  2. One of the Everton podcasts I listen to mentioned that Everton currently have just one point less than Spurs did under Pochettino at the same point in his first season, and Klopp finished 8th with Liverpool in his first season. Now look at those two clubs. Obviously, Everton, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham all have different expectations and the managers involved picked their teams up with different starting points. The point is, if you want to bring someone in to spend £150m and win two trophies in the first season, then sure, you can judge them on it now, but if you've brought someone in as a long term investment to make wholesale changes to not just the team but the club at large, trying to judge them after 20 games is madness.

  3. @LFCMadLad Liverpool were hardly any better yet still managed to get Klopp four years ago. I know you're taking the piss but the long term infrastructure, size and potential of a club matters much more to a manager who values the project than the current level of success and squad ability. That said, I've detailed elsewhere why I don't think it's in Poch's interest to move to United. The risks outweigh the rewards as long as Tottenham haven't yet hit a clear glass ceiling. However, if you were to ask a manager looking for their next career move and wasn't already attached to one club or the other, and gave them the choice between taking over Spurs or Manchester United at the end of this season, you'd expect them to go to Old Trafford.

  4. Man United have reportedly held initial talks with Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, who has told the club to sign one of the Premier League's brightest talents. Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly told Manchester United to make a £70m signing in the summer during initial talks to become the new manager at Old Trafford. Pochettino has been strongly linked with taking the permanent United job after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer completes his caretaker spell. And according to CaughtOffside, United have held initial talks with the Tottenham boss over taking over in the summer, and he has discussed transfer targets with Ed Woodward. One of the names reportedly mentioned is Leicester City forward James Maddison, who would play the 'Christian Eriksen role' at Old Trafford. 22-year-old Maddison would be available for around £70m, and Pochettino is said to have 'assured' United that the England under-21 international is worth that money. Meanwhile, Marouane Fellaini has been linked with a move away from United https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/man-utd-transfer-news-pochettino-15624193

  7. It ranks up there with Her Majesty’s birthday and 26th May 1999 as the all time great dates. I was going to get a ‘5 times’ tattoo, but wouldn’t want to be associated with that awful set of louts from the wrong side of the M62. Then I decided on a Lewis ‘dabbing’ tattoo, but the connections to Pogba are still too awful to imagine. Therefore, I’ll be ordering in a Domino’s pizza and watching Sébastien hitting his steering wheel over and over again.

  11. 'Pirate ship' hand grenade discovered near the 17th-century wreck site James Rogers 4 hrs ago A gunpowder-filled hand grenade from the wreck of a former pirate ship has washed ashore on a remote U.K. beach. Local historian and author Robert Felce told Fox News that he found the hand grenade in late November at Dollar Cove on Cornwall’s Lizard Peninsula. Felce also found a similar grenade at the same site on the Cornwall's southern coast in May 2017. “I don’t use a metal detector – I use sight,” he explained. “I have become accustomed to what a lot of these things look like.” The heavily-encrusted grenades are from the wreck of the Schiedam, a former pirate ship that was being used to transport cargo by the Royal Navy. LiveScience reports that the Schiedam, which was originally a Dutch merchant ship, was taken by Barbary Pirates in 1683, and was subsequently seized by the Royal Navy.
