Omg, watched CNN all day, and was always wondering why the "male vote" is so important, until I now realized that they meant mail vote.2 points

The way they do it in Russia is so much more efficient than the US.. Over there they normally get the result before the polls are even open...1 point

Cheers. I'll stick with BBC as they're using the AP & Edison Research as well albeit not including the projected results even if it is pretty much nailed on either way.1 point

If it wasn't the goalkeeper position Pickford probably would have been dropped for Pope by now. Pickford is having just enough decent games and moments for Everton without having any howlers for England either that he is still able to stave off Pope. Pope is more consistent than Pickford but his ceiling isn't that high whereas Pickford is capable of stand out performances. If you had a consistent top half standard English goalkeeper then they probably would have ousted Pickford. Henderson is a non-entity as long as he isn't playing. It would have been smarter for Southgate to drop Henderson if he's not playing anyway, to put some pressure on the lad to try and get some game time. If he played another season or two regularly in the top flight he could easily displace Pickford if he doesn't improve.1 point

Even so, Callum Wilson? They could genuinely pick a bloke whose playing for Cheltenham Town though because they’re not going to play but you might as well pick someone whose in form.1 point

If Trump was British and ran for PM he would win a crushing landslide. The only reason he polls poorly here at the moment is because the media has no particular reason to try and sell him to the public. If he was running for power, and they had to try to do it, they could easily manage to put him in No. 10. In fact, Britons as a nation are so impressionable, that - given a full electoral cycle - you could get us to vote in just about anyone you can imagine.1 point

To me the fundamental shaper of how optimistic people are, is whether they see Trump as the problem or as a symptom. To me the fundamental problems are: 1 - almost half of the population of the United States, consciously or not, has an essentially fascistic political outlook (disgust at a perceived cultural hegemony, emotional attachment to authority, rapidly shifting mentality between triumphalism and self-pity, idolisation of strength and obedience, and most of all, a conspiratorial way of understanding the world) 2 - a large part of that segment of the population is too detached from material reality to be rescued by persuasion, and the GOP enjoys too strong a position to forsake them, 3 - the leaders of the liberal establishment generally can not grasp the depth of the prior 2 points, and in any case can not accept that it is an essentially internal issue, based on the USA's own failings in its economic, legal, and social development. Beating Trump is at best a slight reprieve. Certainly I'm glad if it happens but it means nothing if the Democrats do not start getting their act together in ways they have completely failed to so far.1 point

They put Israel as the top priority in their understanding and believe it's good for America. Trump has done a lot in that regard moving the embassy, normalising ties with states in the region. Can Biden replicate that ?1 point

The wonders of Steam. 76% positive rating and developed by Boobs Dev. Not sure if you've heard of a developer initiative in the past called Steam Greenlight, whereby small developers could get a chance to shine on the Steam storefront. Unfortunately, it got littered with asset flips and utter shite, though a couple of random ones did slip through the cracks. I think there was one called What's Under Your Blanket? (which was literally a game about having a wank) and this cracker. https://store.steampowered.com/app/526370/SUPER_KINKY/1 point

@The Liquidator I agree with you mostly. Regarding sticking to a formation and system, I don't think the squad profile at the moment will allow Lampard to stick constantly to that shape anyway. Who can play in the 'eight role' apart from Mount and Havertz? Ziyech at a push? Mount and Havertz won't be able to play every game there together. It's why I was annoyed about letting Barkley go who looked good in that position and shape when we used it last season. We also ideally need another DM. While the opposition have maybe been poor, Sevilla for example even are having a real problem with scoring goals at the moment, they really struggle to create and are in a bad patch of form as well so the context in which that clean sheet came about has to be taken into account as well. Despite this, there has been an improvement in the team shape, the defensive line is more compact and at one with the rest of the team and midfielders are getting caught out less with their pressing etc. That type of pressing where the midfielders go ahead (correctly or incorrectly) to press and the defensive line doesn't push up as well which leaves gaps to exploit. There has also been a lot of good blocks and last-ditch tackles, the type of defending which was basically non-existent before.1 point
