I remember getting right fucked on this once. Banged my head and scraped my arms and shoulder getting drug along the ground. Then crawled away into the weeds to have a good cry. It's not a toy, it's a death machine.4 points

Which fans fall into that group of the socios who get to elect the board? What's their relationship with the people that actually end up on the board? It's worth asking because between the last board and this board... I think I'd be pretty fucking annoyed with the people electing these people. Because frankly, the last Barca board just seemed as inept as you can be. They had Messi and they spent money on Coutinho and Griezman... an absurd amount of money on them... both players who are best in the space that Messi typically occupies. Absolute waste of money. Then all the other transfers @Spike and @ScoRossjust detailed... it's just bad business where signings are made for the sake of making signings rather than having an actual plan for how to use those players to be brought in. And then we've got Laporte back in control of the club... and I think he's done enough for where we can all say "I think he's more competent than Barto" - and yet he's making these risky decisions about the future of Barcelona that I think can come back to bite a club in the arse. Giving up a percentage of TV rights for 25 years locks in a price for whoever buys it... for 25 years where the TV money in La Liga is surely bound to go up. It's almost inevitably going to be a source of financial strain for Barca in the coming 25 years... ... and it only really pans out for as long as Barca can challenge for La Liga and the CL immediately - and I don't think that's necessarily a given for Barca. It could work out... but it could also be another financial issue that another Barca board have to deal with. I don't necessarily think that's the best way to run a football club, kicking a serious problem down the road for someone else to deal with in the future... when it will no longer be your mess to clean up. And at this point... can we say that the socios won't just elect another board that'll do the same thing and kick the can down the road while mortgaging the club's future for the sake of it's present? Seems like a vicious cycle where Barca can easily end up fucking themselves over for decades.1 point

Haha well I've been meeting a lady down there, which played its part. But to be honest I'm not sure what the future holds on that one now and it'll probably be my last time there for a while. I've got a few more things to do, such as el Caminito del rey, visiting some little towns in the middle of nowhere and then a trip back to Barcelona(Camp Nou for a game, Tarragona, Gerona and few other spots) is on the books after the World Cup, then probably Canada when more flights, etc start becoming available. That flight will kill me though. I can barely handle a few hours. Have you not got anything planned?1 point

Thats hilarious. I actually recently found out a rule for deposits here is they have to pay you back interest. Not nearly as good as this but the original 500$ deposit over 20 years gives you back a few thousand kind of thing.1 point

UEFA is trialing safe standing for the European competitions this season, which will allow Union to play their Europa League matches at home instead of having to go to the Olympiastadion across town. Imagine that atmosphere on a European night.1 point

And back a bit further and don't spend $56.1 million combined to sign Aleix Vidal and Arda Turan, neither of which could play for the first six months of their deals.1 point

1 Middlesbrough 2 Norwich 3 Watford 4 Burnley 5 Sheffield United 6 West Brom I can't see any other team finishing within the top two that isn't in this category of six. I've placed Middlesbrough and Norwich in the top two as I wouldn't be surprised to see any of the other four miss out on the playoffs. Wilder and Smith are the best two managers in this league so as long as there clubs recruit wisely they should feel confident this season. You just know Wilder's still annoyed at how last season finished so he'll have his team fired up too. 7 Millwall 8 QPR 9 Preston 10 Stoke City 11 Luton The next five teams are teams that I don't think are as good as the top six but I wouldn't be surprised if they made the playoffs. Preston are my outside surprise as I rate there manager and the business they've done this summer. 12 Coventry 13 Bristol City 14 Hull City 15 Swansea 16 Sunderland The next category are teams that I wouldn't be surprised to see in the top half but the playoffs will be out of reach. None of these teams should be concerned with relegation albeit Hull are an unknown entity at the minute. 17 Blackburn 18 Huddersfield 19 Cardiff City 20 Wigan I don't think any of the above four will get relegated but they'll essentially have nothing seasons. If any of them finish in the top half they would have done really well. 21 Reading 22 Blackpool 23 Birmingham 24 Rotherham I'll be very surprised if three of these four teams do not get relegated this season. Wigan may get sucked in to the battle but these four teams feel way off the rest of the competition at present. I think League One can be separated in to two tiers. The teams that wouldn't surprise me to make the playoffs and the times I wouldn't be surprised to see get relegated. I've ranked the top tier based on how impressed I was with how they ended the season and transfer business since. I've just ranked the bottom tier from stability to chaos. 1. Sheffield Wednesday 2. Peterborough 3. Derby County 4. Wycombe 5. Bolton 6. MK Dons 7. Ipswich 8. Portsmouth 9. Oxford 10.Barnsley 11. Charlton 12. Fleetwood 13. Plymouth 14. Shrewsbury 15. Exeter 16. Cambridge United 17. Burton Albion 18. Accrington 19.Morecambe 20. Bristol Rovers 21. Lincoln 22. Port Vale 23. Cheltenham 24. Forest Green1 point

Is that winning the CL this season? Or within 2-3? Pinning all hopes on winning in one season is so naive. Almost a sign of desperation.1 point

Mexico was hot literally and figuratively. Never been there in the summer before but man was it a great place to recharge and relax. We've been to the resort once before just before COVID and it's some of the best beaches in the Mayan Riviera plus it's a massive compound (6 hotels on it). Ventured a bit, did a fishing trip and went to Chichen Itza (hadn't been there in about 12 years), went to a few different cenote's and snorkeled a bunch. Ive got a tonne to sort through but here's some for pics for now!1 point

Went to Palm Springs for the weekend. Probably not the best idea in the world to go there in July tbh.1 point

I think the German Woolworth became independent from the rest of the Woolworth brand right around the time things got shit for Woolworth and they all closed, so they still exist. I think they still exist in some other countries, but not in the UK anymore at all. I dunno if it's true but I remember my grandad saying that Woolworth invented Christmas ornaments. So while they're gone, they definitely made Christmas look more festive... so they'll always have that (unless it's not true, in which case... wtf why did my grandad lie to me).1 point

Privileged upbringing and not used to being told "No". A whopping sense of entitlement and surrounded by sycophants. @Spike actually showed me the light into never buying a kit with a player's name on it anymore.0 points

So it looks like Porsche will not be solely an engine supplier, they are reportedly taking over 50% of Red Bull Racing https://www.motorsport-total.com/formel-1/news/leak-durch-kartellbehoerde-porsche-uebernimmt-50-prozent-von-red-bull-22072708?utm_source=FB-CN&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=fbcn-n-313171_-_erster-offizieller-hinweis-porsche-uebernimmt-50-prozent-von-red-bull0 points
