Stumbled upon the Crossed comics recently. Went through the original Volume One by Garth Ennis/Jacen Burrows and must say I haven't read anything as twisted and messed up before Is extremely gory with excessive murder/sex/violence and a lot of it is there clearly for the shock value in order to push the limits but I must say I actually liked the story behind that. Plot summary: There are more volumes but most of them are trash except for the original run and the Badlands series (Volume 4) that's again written by the original authors. I'm also hearing that there's a spin off called Crossed +100 by Alan Moore though and that one's supposed to be good as well so I'll give it a go I guess... Wait where on earth in this post does it say this word: Isn't the topic being discussed Pogba? Why do you have to make it about yourself, mate? He's just disagreeing with you - there's nothing wrong with healthy debate. For the record, I think Pogba has a very tough job as he's basically asked to be the only creator at Manchester United. And the expectation is that they perform about as well as they did when their club was on top of the world... when I don't think many people would say the quality of the squad is even close. It's a big ask for one man. And when he's been successful in his career, he's been in very complete midfields with France and Juventus. I don't think you can call that midfield complete at all. Also if you watch a lot of last season, Pogba's trying to figure out who to play the ball to at times... and there's no fucking movement in front of him. So yeah, I think Pogba has struggled... but do I think all of his struggles are his own fault? Nah, I don't think so. But I also think it shows he's not the sort of midfielder who can consistently grab a match by the scruff of it's neck and singlehandedly have his team punching a bit above it's weight come the end of the season. And I think with some of the praise that's been thrown his way, you'd think he is that kind of player and I don't think that's the case. I think he's a good player in a complete midfield. I think he's an alright player when he's being asked to shoulder as much responsibility as he is currently, but with his supporting cast that makes it a big ask. And I think that's why he gets frustrated and sometimes has this body language like he doesn't fucking want to be there when he's on the pitch... which isn't exactly what I'd imagine is endearing to many Manchester United fans. That attitude, plus all the hype around him, I think brings a lot of pressure onto him and he's already being asked to do a lot in a midfield where I think he's under a lot of pressure to perform. Honestly, with where Manchester United are as a club right now... a midfielder like him on the wages he's on maybe isn't what they need. And I think the club right now isn't exactly what he needs, because there's loads of evidence of how good he can be in a midfield that's already been built up. But I think it's tough for them to cut their losses because of the amount of money they spent on him and how much he's paid... but the return on their investment I think wouldn't have many clubs thinking "yeah he was worth that, let's try to buy him at close to that value (or higher - which would obviously be ideal for the selling club, making a profit).

Thought the first series was superb...

Finished the first Season of Fargo last night. Soooooo good. Billy Bob Thornton was extraordinary in this show. His character was so intense and unpredictable, loved it. Thornton should have won every possible award for his portrayal.

Gears of War: Judgement was CRAP. But the story is actually pretty decent if you want to learn about Baird/Cole's backstory - I'd recommend watching a YouTube video with the cutscenes all spliced together rather than playing that one if you wanted to catch up on that installment of the series. I played it because I love the games - that one made me doubt whether or not Gears of War 4 would be any good; they made so many gameplay changes and it really altered how the game felt to play. Gears of War 4 was more of a return to form for the series. I don't think it's anywhere near as good as the original trilogy, but gameplay wise it very much goes back to feeling like the old Gears of War games. The story is good and interesting, but I'll be honest... it's not as good as the first three. One of the reasons I liked the first three was, sure it's like a cheesy 80s action movie at heart - but they managed (imo) to make a pretty compelling story and getting you caring about the 4 lumbering hunks of meat that the story follows. In Gears 4 the characters I cared most about are the characters from the original trilogy. It's not a bad game though, I just don't think it quite reaches the same heights as the original trilogy. Gears 5 though is vastly improved to 4 (and again, I don't think 4 is bad or anything - I actually think it does a good job of setting up 5's superior story). But it's similar to 4 and the original trilogy in terms of gameplay. I've not beaten the campaign yet, I don't even think I'm that far into it tbh... I've not been able to play as much as I'd want to. But so far, I'm enjoying the game a bit more than I did with the previous one. It feels better written.

JJ is an excellent coach. A breath of fresh air for brazilian football. The level of coaching in Brazil is atrocious but the arrival of JJ and Sampaoli made things more interesting. I think Flamengo is the favorite to win the title. I'd also say they have a good shot of winning Libertadores as well. They have a great coach and a very good squad. Santos is the 2nd and they'll face Flamengo at Maracanã Saturday to end the 1st half. Huge match but I still think Palmeiras is the one team that will fight with Flamengo for the title. Tite has good job security after winning Copa America. He's not on the hot seat. But should that change, JJ definitely would be a strong name, along with Renato Gaúcho.

Even if you rubbed that tweet in the faces of the entire population 70% of them aren't educated enough to know what it means and most of the others don't want to know.

I think the case will be hugely embarrassing for the government but ultimately I doubt the SC will follow the Court of Session's approach. The English approach to constitutional law is much more focused on the absolute unjusticiability of prorogative power. I can a imagine a decision which is very scathing and which essentially finds the government to have acted improperly and deceitfully, but which refuses to declare the prorogation illegal.

While I'm happy for your personal success, you can't generalise an anecdote. The statistics paint a very different story. This isn't all top down, institutions at the bottom are failing too. Our education system is absolutely abysmal, with degrees now almost meaningless and a generation of vacuous narcissists now among us. Work ethic, knowledge and modesty are now things of the past. We've created the stupidest and most selfish culture.

Anyone else watched Afghan's win over Bangladesh? Was an exciting match. I keep saying this, these have been a fabulous few weeks for Test cricket. A lot to do with bowler friendly pitches, and partly to do with good bowling and poor batting skills.

It's barely even about the EU at this point. For me it's more about realising just how utterly fucked this country is when all that parliament and the media have talked about for three years is Brexit yet 90% of people you pass on the street probably couldn't list three factual statements about Brexit or the EU without one of them including a distorted statistic/lie they've read in a newspaper or on social media from some obsessed cunt on one side or another. I saw two polls from today from the same source. One of them said more people prefer to delay Brexit than leave without a deal on October 31st. Another one said that overall, people would prefer to leave with no deal than remain if a deal can't be struck. Nobody knows what the country fucking wants anymore and until you make every voter in this country take a two month course on the actual benefits and consequences of leaving the European Union they never will, which is why this should never have been put to a referendum in the first place, along with the fact that there are about 600 different possible Brexits, not just one, that all have hugely different implications on people's lives and would change the way some people would vote if you asked them Leave or Remain again. Our problem as a society is reflected in what we're seeing play out in the House of Commons now. We used to be able to sit down and have a conversation with ourselves about these things but social media and this recent phenomenon that politicians have realised they can say what they want regardless of how true or false it is as long as they shout louder than the people pointing out their lies, then they can get away with it. There's not a single major newspaper in this country you can trust, even the BBC are accused of being biased by both sides of the debate. We've lost that ability to have a conversation with ourselves which is why Brexit has become a proverbial shouting match all the way from the pub on a Friday night to Westminster. Anyone who thinks the majority of MPs actually stand for anything is kidding themselves. Brexit has just become the latest game for them. The Conservatives win if they get out at all costs because it will probably win them the next election as long as they call one before anyone has a chance to weigh up the consequences of their actions. Any Conservatives that value their views on Brexit over securing their pay packet for another 5 years have left, unless indeed their values were Hard Brexit in the first place. Labour see Brexit as an opportunity to get into power, something they'd likely never do with Corbyn at the helm under normal circumstances. The Lib Dems might genuinely believe Remain is the best option but mostly see it as an opportunity to become a relevant option again. It's all a disgusting mess. I've barely given a toss about Remain or Leave for years now, because I, like most, accepted the result of the referendum, at least until it emerged that Vote Leave broke electoral law, but then I realised nothing would happen so I was a bit outraged for a while then I got over it again. However, seeing Boris Johnson bumbling around as the leader of this country makes me physically ill under any circumstances, regardless of Brexit, Remain or Leave allegiance. His track record speaks for itself with his inappropriate comments, selfish choices and general lack of fitness for office. If seeing him appointed Prime Minster without an election wasn't an outrage too far, watching him and his puppet master Cummings actively trying to break every convention and bend every law that democracy in this country has been built on for decades, certainly is. Like I said earlier in the thread, this whole thing could just as easily be a referendum over whether brown bread should be banned from Great Britain. My opinion and vote has and still does go with Remain, but it doesn't matter. Politics and democracy in this country has been reduced to a pathetic, social media driven propaganda war where every tool and tactic is fair game, even if it's illegal in some cases, and regardless of what you think of the EU, that's a sad, sad situation for this nation to find itself in. Once a beacon of democracy and fair and proper conduct, we've been reduced to "pick a side and put 'em up" to resolve our disagreements.
