Honestly the Man City hate is a very online thing I find too. They don't really provoke a great deal in me personally. Maybe they should. But I think things like rumoured charges just simply isn't going to supersede the annoying Man United / Liverpool / Arsenal fans at work no matter how much people morally think it should.

Also, we're talking several years through mid-90s all the way through to early 2010s that Man Utd built up a resentment within fans. Man City aren't anywhere near that yet.

Man City can plead relevance and fans can wish for hatred towards them, but there just isn't the time built-up to hate them that much just yet. There's a valid dislike for what they do, but there's quite an intrinsic difference as to where that comes from - it's all off the pitch. Anyone disliking Man Utd from that time period is predominantly based on their success and arrogance from what they did on the pitch.

  2. Week 36 Results
    Kaiserslautern 1-1 Wehen
    Aberdeen 3-3p Celtic
    Leicester 2-1 West Brom
    Man City 1-0 Chelsea
    Lyon Women 3-2 PSG Women
    Perth Glory 3-4 Western United
    Houston Dynamo 0-1 Austin FC
    Coventry 3-3p Man Utd
    Union S-G 1-2 Club Brugge
    Real Madrid 3-2 Barcelona

    Round-up
A total of 39 goals across 10 fixtures - goalfests despite two matches only having 1 goal in them. Two others were cup semi-finals that ended in penalty shootouts after 3-3 draws after extra-time, and in Australia there was a 7-goal thriller.

The weekend rounded off with a 3-2 win in El Clasico - only @CaaC (John) got this as a perfect score, helping to solidify 2nd place. @Rucksackfranzose did well to get 13 points and that meant he overtook @Bluebird Hewitt and is now level with @Viva la FCB. @Tommy is just behind them and one good week could propel him up further...

  3. A dramatic weekend with some thrashings handed out on one day, and plenty of controversy the next day! Sheff Utd and Luton were the biggest losers, literally. Being on the end of 4-1 and 5-1 thrashings respectively hasn't helped their survival course. Sheff Utd are pretty much relegated with needing to overturn a 10-point gap in 5 games, even if they do still have to play the two sides directly above the relegation zone for now. Luton have a much better chance of survival despite their loss, with only being 1 point off survival and still have to play Everton at home...

It's looking likely that Burnley vs Forest on the final day could be a relegation showdown...

    image.png

Everton and Sheff Utd involved in their games-in-hand - both against top 6 opposition. Now would be a great time for Everton to pick up a Merseyside derby win, but if they don't, their next 3 are against relegation rivals as an equally good chance to pick up points...

  4. They're now denying requesting the Attwell was taken off VAR duties xDxD

What an absolute circus of a club.

Nottingham Forest did not ask for Stuart Attwell to be taken off video assistant referee duties for their match against Everton, BBC Sport has been told.

Following their 2-0 defeat at Goodison Park on Sunday, Forest posted on X, external that they are "considering their options" over "extremely poor" refereeing decisions they felt went against them.

The club said they had "warned" the Professional Game Match Officials Board (PGMOL) that "the VAR is a Luton fan but they didn't change him".

But, BBC Sport has also been told Forest did not express that they had an issue with Attwell's involvement.

Forest were frustrated about three penalty claims during the Premier League match, all of which involved Everton defender Ashley Young and none of which went their way.

Forest felt he caught the back of Gio Reyna's boot in attempting to make a tackle when the game was goalless before a Callum Hudson-Odoi cross struck Young on the arm late in the first half.

The third incident happened after the interval as Young challenged Hudson-Odoi from behind but the officials ruled he had won the ball cleanly.

Forest posted on X after the game: "Three extremely poor decisions - three penalties not given - which we simply cannot accept.

"Our patience has been tested multiple times."

After a series of what they saw as decisions against them, Forest hired former referee Mark Clattenburg as their referee analyst.

And the retired official wrote a column in the Mail on Sunday in which he said Forest had been "left feeling victimised after another defeat in which zero big decisions went their way".

The result leaves Forest 17th in the Premier League, one point above the relegation zone with four games remaining.

I don't get to go to Goodison regularly but you can tell from Twitter 2-3 times a season that there are certain sets of fans who turn up and go full Tory with the feed the scousers shouts. From what I remember Luton were another unfortunately. Whichever one of them gets flushed this season, we'll only have Leicester fans back doing the same next season by the looks of it.

Which is utterly ridiculous I hasten to add.

As with our track record of signing replacements we'd be in for another long season.

You now have an actual decent manager so that will perhaps change.

Instead of 14th each season it'll now be 13th .

In all seriousness, they're very talented. I can see a club like Newcastle even throwing money at you/the players and enticing them there. Especially given Almiron seems to be coming to the end of his time there.

Honestly Forest cannot go down quick enough, the owner is a nightmare and their buy every player under the sun recruitment philosophy is a terrible way to run a club.

I don’t think they’ll do it but for the sake of the league I hope Luton stay up.

Be interesting to see how they manage financially (and what punishments will be forthcoming) if they a) get relegated and b) stay down for at least 1 season.

Their recruitment must have screwed them up financially if they go down. Be amazed if they're not in breach of any financial stability rules for the 3-year period that this season and last season are included in.

    Debating a decision is fine.

But having a clear and blatant hatred like that Brentford fan does is weird because I can't understand why. Why has a period of Uniteds success resulted in such hatred. I don't see the same hate being direct towards Manchester City or Liverpool as I do United.

It literally baffles me. If I'm reading the decision is shit etc.. that's fine, it's a debate but it goes beyond that with the comments.

Is what Danny said actually that bad, or even wrong?

You let a 3-0 lead slip and had to take it to penalties and a very close offside decision go in your favour to get through. And I know you see the frailties of your own side because you've acknowledged it too.

At 3-0 up you guys should never have been in the position you ended up in. Something wrong and very fragile at the club.

Also gotta remember that several fans grew up with Utd getting every decision under the sun for the best part of a generation growing up in the 90/00s. Probably where any 'hatred' stems from from any other fan of the game.

There's a lot of hate for Man City for very different reasons.

I'm really not trust me. Supporting United your whole life you learn to accept unnecessary hate. It does bother me a little though from fans of clubs that have zero history with us. I get it from scousers, City fans, Arsenal and so on. But I've seen Wigan fans doing plane impressions at matches and similar from other none relevant clubs.

I don't see the same passion being given towards the three terrible penalty calls for Forest today though. Obviously I wouldn't expect that from you but they seem to be being ignored by everyone.

As for the big 6 comment, some might say your club is being protected as well. 3 dodgy pen calls, points added back on after a deduction.

Why does it have to be a specific club to support to have legitimate dislike or debate about a decision?

  12. 12 minutes ago, Devil said:

Is it a disgrace because its United the decision has gone to or is it a genuine disgrace?

I think a bit of United hatred is on display here. At first glance I called offside and to be honest I've seen far worse VAR decisions given. He looked slightly ahead and the technology went with that as well.

We will more than likely lose to City anyway as Coventry City would have as well. So I don't think there is much for the anti United brigade to be too bothered about.

No. It's the fact it's such a miniscule decision and what VAR has caused the game to come to.

Not just a hatred of United.
