A business move. I’ve no idea how much the cost of running a stadium is but don’t they pay £2.5m a year in rent on the London Stadium? That’s peanuts, an obvious move really.

Aye but where has it got them? To leave a stadium you need to show more for it than just low rent when you’re still shit on the pitch

And some easy cash made by some people...

Lot of motivation for some people to sell the stadium.

And there we have it, very sad as it was a proper British football stadium that hadn’t as a whole suffered from old age or from upgrade fatigue (looking identikit)

The stadium shouldn't excuse the poor performances from the players and manager but it just isn't a hard place to go to as an away team. It hasn't been ever since they moved there.

I'm struggling to know what they really need in terms of a manager. They seem like one of these clubs who does buy some good players but there's never any plan or method behind a lot of their signings and they therefore flop. I think an overhaul of their recruitment would be a good start.

Moyes I'd get if they hadn't literally sacked the bloke 18 months ago. It's just a terrible look. He didn't do a bad job there but it just looks desperate.

More income. They now have 50k+ plus season ticket holders (excl. a £10 a year waiting list) and far better matchday hospitality at the London Stadium than Upton Park.

Yeah but where on the pitch is what I meant, performances are largely the same as are the points they’re tallying

Do you think the owners really care about that? As long as they stay in the Premier League, the owners are raking it in.

Of course not, but the fans are the ones who have been done over which was what I was getting at

As are most fans. They’re held at ransom because giving up season tickets etc will see them sold to others and people don’t tend to do that. The fans have lost Upton Park but clubs don’t care, they’re huge businesses not hubs of the community anymore.

David Moyes: West Ham appoint former boss for a second spell

David Moyes has been appointed as West Ham manager and will return for a second spell at the club.

The 55-year-old Scot has signed an 18-month deal and will take charge of the New Year's Day home game against Bournemouth at London Stadium.

He replaces Manuel Pellegrini, who was sacked after Saturday's 2-1 home defeat by a much-changed Leicester side.

Following their fourth straight home loss, the Hammers are one place and one point above the relegation zone.

Don’t think it’s an awful appointment but didn’t expect it to be an eighteen month deal.

He didn’t do an awful job last time, but it’s next season that will be interesting, in seeing how they recruit and retain.

@Smiley Culture see what I mean? They left Upton Park for David Moyes?

I have no idea how you’ve made that link. They’ve left Upton Park to line the pockets of their owners, hoodwinking fans in the process by promising European Football, which the fans were daft enough to fall for.

Obviously they didn’t quite literally leave Upton Park to sign David Moyes...

David Moyes: New West Ham manager says winning is 'what I do'

:rofl::rofl:

Have you seen the weird stats the BBC's cherry picked to make him look like one of the most successful managers in the league?

It's all pretty strange, tbh - no idea why the BBC's taken up the role of PR for West Ham, but... for some reason they've cherry picked the stat to be after 300 matches (without explaining why it's 300 matches). And as a result, that makes Moyes look like a top 5 manager in the league.

That sort of cherry picking though leaves off some notable names that have SIGNIFICANTLY higher win rates than Moyes. Those managers would be: Pep (with an absolutely insane 75% win rate), Klopp, Rodgers, and Pochettino.

There's no real reason for 300 matches been given as the metric (it's around 8 seasons... which makes it even more weird).

But his claim that "winning is what I do" is made all the more funny when you consider that he's actually the manager for West Ham with their worst ever win-ratio in the history of their time in the Premier League.

It's also just mental how they've brought him in and think he'll fix things. His time with West Ham was dire - it was setting up 9 men deep and defending and hoping Arnautovic would grab them a goal or two. Doubt it'll work with Antonio trying to grab those same goals.
