And now we're going to enforce the goalkeeper standing on the line rule for the first time ever? Okay, nothing like a bit of consistency.

It's supposed to be one of the new harsher clamped down on rules for the season that's why... Will be a lot of unhappy fans and clubs out there if they don't enforce it across the board though as the season goes on... which is almost totally predictable

That decision may be controversial but it is absolutely in line with how the Premier League have been told to apply the law by Fifa this season.

The keeper has to have a foot on the line - on the ground - otherwise the spot kick gets taken again.

As if people genuinely think that was all fine xD. We can all have a good giggle at Man Utd getting the shaft but where is our sport going? Next clubs will be training to get in the box and aim shots at opposition defenders' hands instead of actually shooting because everything is handball apparently. After that you'll have to have your arms surgically removed in order to be a professional footballer.

That was one of the VAR changes for this season after they consciously chose not to check them last year

For me, it's something that's so easy to check that you may as well if you're doing VAR anyway

Except we have evidence that doesn't happen, because everyone said that for Italian football when they changed the handball rules.

Didn't see it but heard it hit his arm at very close range so unintentional?? Only on this occasion it's given for being handball regardless... will that rule be applied in all games or will it be open to the refs judgment on each occasion??

It was close range but his arm wasn't close to his body, but neither was he hanging his arm out to intentionally stop it.  His arm was in the motion of running.

Score line is probably the best representation of the game so United fans can’t be too upset about the penalty. They’ve been gash.

Thats true enough, don't deserve the win.  But it did seem to wake us up, one back still another ten minutes to get another

If you guys think that players should be penalised for running normally and have a completely off target mishit shot kicked at their hand in a way they can't avoid then fine but be ready be accept it when it happens against your team.

For me it's absurd and not in the spirit of the handball rule at all.

What if the defender is on the goal line and a shot hits his hand from close range? It's not intentional but it stops a goal.

Then fine that's a penalty but that's not even close to what happened so I don't see how it's relevant.

I think thats wrong personally. If a player takes the penalty they have to be the same one to retake it.

Yes. Ayew first, Zaha second.

Bit naughty in my opinion.... I would change the rule to only give the penalty to the player that was actually fouled not anyone that feels like it..
