This is creeping up for too quickly.

My wife has planned a surprise party but I've secretly found out about it.

1. I'm going to find it really difficult to act surprised.

2. I hate the idea of having a party, I used to refuse them as a child and have never had one since I was about 11.

3. I want to know who is invited so I can say if I want them there or not.

Duh. xD

But I'm with you. I hate getting that much attention. It's always awkward. xD

I hate it, if I had more notice I think I'd tell her I know and to cancel but it's only about 5 weeks away.

She's more than likely put loads in place.

It's almost like I'm only happy to go ahead for her and my girls.

I mean, she's doing this for you, and she means well. Put a brave face on it, and endure. 😬

On the other hand, and I hope it's not too personal or something. If she really knew you inside out, she'd know that you hate that kind of thing? Just a thought. :35_thinking:

I don't really understand people as it is. So take anything from me with a pinch of salt.

Been together since I was 20, she knows me inside out but this is the first major birthday she's felt she's needed to do something.

I also think she's been fueled by my mother as she's mentioned a get together a few times and I've said I don't mind a small get together but I overhead it's a room....

A room in Manchester terms means an actual venue.

I don't want a venue!!!

I was happy with a meal or a small get together at a house.

Watch videos of grooms crying on their weddings and do the same when you enter the party. Don't try to force it though keep it natural

The last thing in the world I want to do is cry in front of my friends and family.

Tears aren't an option, so its head down playing with my phone only to raise it in stone faced shock when they all shout surprise.

That's the plan anyway.

I don't like Birthdays let alone parties and I have warned the wife, son & daughter many a time don't ever arrange a surprise party for me as I won't like it, a few cards and maybe a couple of prezzies from the grandsons which is normally mugs with granddad on them I am happy with that and we have a cupboard of mugs & cups with granny & granddad printed on the of dad & mum.

Happy birthday!

Any updates on the suprise party? xD

Friday night.

Dreading it, dunno if I need to prepare a few words for a speech.

Just got to get on with it I suppose, act all surprised and work the room.

The working the room part is a major annoyance, small talk with friends partners etc..

I'd have liked it to pass quietly.

Happy birthday! You've come a long way on here compared to how it was when you first joined :D

Haha!

Without dragging up the past it was nice to find a mixed supporting community with such a good group people.

I hope it became clear quickly I wasn't in any way similar to certain individuals who migrated over to this forum around the same time.

Anyway enough of the soppy shite I've had a nice Thai meal and I'm enjoying a few drinks as I'm off work tomorrow.

After all, Growing old is inevitable, but growing up is optional.

Couldn't write it could you, went for meal with parents and then came back to mine for a few drinks as mentioned earlier.

Told wife during meal don't have too many glasses of vino as its my birthday after all, she said she'd be fine.

We come back to ours and me and my dad have a few and she has a few with my mum. She's fell asleep on the sofa!

Absolute shocker.

How's the hangover for you @Devil

To be honest I was fine this morning.

Had a nice breakfast and went Trafford centre to spend a few quid.

Saturday will be hangover day, it's already been earmarked for a lazy day.
