Theme Parks & Rollercoasters

What's everyone's favourite for both?

I've mainly been to UK theme parks and rollercoasters within - Thorpe Park & Alton Towers. Stealth, Nemesis, Oblivion, Air are the best ones I've been on. The school I went to took us to Thorpe Park after our exams finished and it was obviously one of the best school trips we've been on.

Only other theme park I've been to outside of UK is Disneyworld & Busch Gardens in Florida when I was a kid.

Wife is terrified of rollercoasters, so haven't been to a theme park for about 8 years now (though will do when my kid comes along!).

Only ever really been to Blackpool Pleasure Beach (which is an absolute shithole, but has some good rides) and Alton Towers.

The Big One (Blackpool) and Air (AT) are my favourites, went on Thirteen the first week it opened too which was pretty cool!

Haven't been to one of them in years but I don't think I would go on one of these roller coaster things they have nowadays, they would scare the shite out of me, many moons ago in Aussie land when I was a young lad I would go to Lunar Park in St.Kilda where they had big dippers and slides etc, but nothing like what I can see nowadays, I loved the big slide they had but you had to climb around a 100 steps to reach the top, no way in a million years could I do that at my age now.

I've been to many theme parks, mainly as a kid.

In Germany: Phantasialand, Movie Park (Used to be owned by Warner Bros), Panorama Park, Fort Fun from the top of my head.

Also been to De Efteling in the Netherlands several times and Bobbejaanland in Belgium.

I used to be scared of Rollercoasters with vertical loops when I was younger. Not anymore though.

Movie Park has a wooden rollercoaster, called Wild Wild West. Once I was there as a kid with a friend, and the theme park was empty. So we rode that rollercoaster 11 times in a row. Everything hurt after that, but it was fun. :D

It's been a long time since I've been in one. Used to love the old Rotor/Round Up rides where the 3g centrifugal force pins you to the wall, we used to call it the vomit wheel xD

Don't care much for theme parks these days, would love to go to the Star Wars Galaxy's Edge though. Oh and Westworld, if it ever becomes a reality xD

Haha I used to like them but then also became fearful of being that person who vomits and splatters everyone.

That's reasonable, I probably wouldn't try it these days, either. Funnily enough, it was almost always the adults who'd end up puking all over the place while the kids were fine 😂

We love theme parks and have had loads of holidays based around them.

Florida

Bush Gardens, Sea World, Disneyland, Universal studios

Been three times with the missus and one of my daughters and my youngest has been once. Went with my parents as a kid as well.

Spain

Portaventura, been twice and actually stayed on the resort so could access the park for free, when there went on the tallest roller coaster in Europe

England

Alton towers, Camelot, Drayton Manor and Blackpool pleasure Beach

So you could pretty much say I love a roller coaster.

France

Disneyland Paris twice

Lol, aye, they had one of them at the theme park I mentioned, used to love turning around in circles while stuck to the wall 🤣

It's been a while since I have been on it, even pre-COVID. We have the River Festival here which is one of the largest free outdoor festivals in UK - always a decent selection of rides and rollercoasters. That was one of the main rides they had which was always busy. Thankfully never actually been sick on it or had anyone that was, but it must have happened a few times for sure...

I’ve only been to Alton Towers twice, Blackpool Pleasure Beach once, and Disneyland California once (last year a few weeks before covid closed everything - I did not realise that would be one of the last “fun” things I did).

The roller coasters at Disneyland were a bit shit tbh. But I guess that’s because they’re designed mostly for kids who just want to see stuff out of cartoons/Star Wars.

I got punched in the face at Blackpool Pleasure Beach and broke my nose xD 3/10 experience

I don't know what happened but you definitely deserved it...

Blackpool pleasure Beach was ruined when they decided to charge you entry.

When I was young you would go Blackpool, walk down the whole front and go on two or three rides.

By making you pay in its ruined it for everyone, you pay £40 you stay in all day so the other businesses and attractions on the front suffer.

Some drunk fat lad kept talking about pizza and I also was drunk and told him he was too fat for pizza, 4 or 5 times but in different words.

Emotions got the better of him and he punched me in the face and broke my nose, the dumb fat cunt

When you're in Florida, the Water Rides are an absolute relief given the heat so I'd probably say those. Even more so as you're bone dry 20mins later xD

Generally, I prefer Water Parks to Theme Parks, mind. So much more fun and the queue's are less intense.

good shout!

When some friends and I went to Morocco a few years ago, the booking was left up to one of them. One of those where you just leave the whole trip to someone else, pay and just let them get on with it.

Ended up staying at a resort/water-park hotel which is probably where a lot of families go for summer with their kids but we went outside of half-term so it wasn't that busy. They had huge slides and a fuck load of them - about 20+ in total.

I enjoy theme park rides... The faster the better

Not been on any for a long while.. The missus used to enjoy them as well but when she started having problems with her back she had to stop going on them or she would be in agony for the rest of the day.. Hate the waiting times though, even worse if it's for one of those 20 second bullet rides like Stealth

Been to few over my years. Disneyland Paris (when a kid), Disneyland Japan, Disney Sea (x2), Universal Studios Osaka, FujiQ Highlands, all the Gold Coast theme parks etc etc.
Best ride is probably the toy story one at Disney sea or the Indiana Jones one. However I have a crap memory. And loads of rides blend into one memory haha
