I don't know if I agree with that, but I can see how a ref might give a red for that. No way VAR can overturn it, it's not a clear and obvious error. But I think that's one of those borderline yellow/red cards - and imo I would go with a yellow

Rubbish decision.

Not high. In control. No studs contact. No malice.

Just heard its Chris Kavanagh on VAR which explains a lot. He has no bollocks at all to change any decisions. Shite official. Disappointed in Oliver too.

Very harsh red card. :/ Hopefully Switzerland can at least make it to penalties.

If it gets to penalties, I am sure the Swiss will probably be feeling the more confident side.

So it's extremely harsh but also not extremely harsh enough to overturn.

Yeah, makes sense xD

I hate VAR... but even I think something can be harsh but still not be a clear and obvious error for the referee. Which, tbh - I can see why a ref might have given that real time.

Makes me think the VAR review rules should be changed though. But of course a premier league referee would do this on the international stage xD

Yeah, it looks like a difficult decision to make, bur Michael Oliver decided it was a sending off offence after reviewing VAR and Mark Walton also apparently agreed that it is a red card offence. I mean Freuler's legs didn't seem high enough off the ground when he committed the foul, but the referee's know best. After all, it's their profession, they know all the details of the footballing laws.

That was Chris Kavanagh. Oliver didn't check the monitor.

Also, Peter Walton :)

Peter Walton boils my piss, whatever the decision he just absolutely rims the referee.

It's funny/annoying when he agrees with the ref, VAR overturns it and then he's all of a sudden agreeing with the VAR xD
