Pole Position - Which driver will post the fastest lap in Q3?

Max Verstappen

Podium - Which drivers will finish the Grand Prix in the top three positions?

1. Max Verstappen

2. Sergio Perez

3. Charles Leclerc

Random Driver - Predict the finishing position of this week's random driver, Alexander Albon.

8th

Bonus Question - The last race before the summer break can often be pivotal for under-pressure F1 drivers. Your job this weekend is to choose which driver is going to have the worst weekend overall. The scoring will be a bit different for this week's Bonus Question. You will receive points for each of the following things that happen to your chosen driver:

  • Qualifies behind team-mate for Grand Prix (1 point).
  • Qualifies behind team-mate for Sprint (1 point).
  • Beaten by team-mate in Sprint (1 point).
  • Fails to finish Sprint (2 points).
  • Beaten by team-mate in Grand Prix (1 point).
  • Fails to finish Grand Prix (2 points).
  • Causes a red flag/virtual safety car/full safety car in any session (1 point each time).

A DNF will score you the 2 points but you won't get an additional point in this instance for also getting "beaten" by their team-mate. The "causing red flag/SC/VSC" one will be awarded even if it's a mechanical issue i.e. not their fault. However, if Driver A gets wiped out by Driver B in an incident that is clear Driver B's fault, causing a safety car, Driver A will not count as having caused the safety car.

@Tommy

Seen as we're 4 months into the season. Where I've found out that I'm part of the constructors with you being my team partner.

I feel that a pre-race discussion is required. Will we follow team orders? Should we use a towe in qualy? Should we go for a one stop? Which tyres should we start the race on? Same or split strategy?

I'm adding any 5 second or other penalties as another thing that will get a point for the bonus question.

If the championship standings decideds the grid. Are we allowed to change our predictions for the race?

Results - Belgian Grand Prix

As has become the custom, a full spread of Verstappen pole shouts saw everyone start the weekend on Friday by bagging the full five points for this prediction.

Come race day, @MUFC was brave enough to back Sergio Perez to hold off his team-mate in light of a 5-place grid penalty for Verstappen, meaning that he scores only 4 points for his podium prediction. Everyone else went for the predictable Max victory with @RandoEFC and @nudge the only pair to predict a Red Bull 1-2 the right way around. @Stan and @The Palace Fan pick up 2 points each for putting Perez on the podium but incorrectly in 3rd. With most people completing their podiums with either Norris, Hamilton or Piastri, only two people predicted Charles Leclerc to put his Ferrari in the top three. @Coma picks up 2 points for having him in 2nd place but @RandoEFC bags the full 20 points for a perfect podium prediction with Leclerc following home the two Red Bulls. Our first perfect podium since @RandoEFC and @Coma called VER-HAM-ALO in Canada.

Alex Albon was this week's random driver, and @Stan reaps the reward of correctly predicting his 14th placed finish in the Grand Prix, picking up 5 extra points that nobody else got their hands on.

The scoring for this week's bonus question was a bit more complicated. The scoring is as follows:

  • Magnussen ( @RandoEFC / @Tommy ) - Penalty for impeding Leclerc in qualifying (1). Total = 1.
  • Sargeant ( @Stan / @The Palace Fan / @Coma / @DeadLinesman ) - Caused red flag in Practice (1), beaten by team-mate in qualifying (1), beaten by team-mate in sprint shootout (1), beaten by team-mate in sprint (1), beaten by team-mate in Grand Prix (1). Total = 5.
  • Zhou ( @MUFC ) - Beaten by team-mate in qualifying (1), beaten by team-mate in sprint shootout (1), beaten by team-mate in sprint (1), beaten by team-mate in Grand Prix (1). Total = 4.
  • Stroll ( @nudge ) - Beaten by team-mate in qualifying (1), caused red flag in sprint shootout (1), beaten by team-mate in Grand Prix (1). Total = 3.
  • Perez ( @Whiskey / @OrangeKhrush ) - Beaten by team-mate in qualifying (1), beaten by team-mate in sprint shootout (1), did not finish sprint (2), beaten by team-mate in Grand Prix (1). Total = 5.

Here's how the table now looks.

417120205_Screenshot2023-08-03103402.thumb.png.3b5e4e08c19bb37d295229e5331fd58a.png

More movement at the top sees this week's top scorers, @RandoEFC and @Stan move into the top two positions in the Drivers' championship. @Coma goes back level with previous leader @OrangeKhrush while there is also a close battle between the bottom four, made closer by @nudge and @The Palace Fan being among this week's highest scorers.

Red Bull and Ferrari score big in the Constructors' standings this week, but Mercedes still have a buffer at the top of the table. A dismal week for Aston Martin compared to the rest of the field sees them slump to the bottom of the table as we head into the summer break.
