Dave
1. Manchester City What is the point of even caring anymore. They've made the league boring. 2. Arsenal 3. Manchester United I'd be surprised if either of these teams miss out on CL spots. The managers seem to have full backing of the board who have invested heavily to strengthen both teams. Reasons to be optimistic for both sides. 4. Liverpool 5. Newcastle United 6. Chelsea 7. Tottenham Hotspur I wouldn't be surprised if any of these teams qualify for the Champions League spots based purely off the ability of there managers but each one has a big enough question mark that makes me think they could also easily finish below Villa and Brighton. How will Liverpool's new midfield transition at a time when they're inbedding a newish front three and the center backs are questionable? How will Newcastle cope with the distraction of Europe? How will a new look Chelsea team gel with each other? What state will the Tottenham team be in by September 1st? I think all these fan bases have a right to be optimistic, but also accept that this could be a difficult season. 8. Brighton & Hove Albion 9. Aston Villa Both these teams seem to be an upward trajectory with good systems in place. I wouldn't be surprised if they're able to take advantage of some underperforming bigger clubs and breach the top six. Exciting times to support either of these clubs. 10. Brentford 11. West Ham United 12. Crystal Palace I think the following three will be in a battle for the final top half spot. I have Brentford the highest of the three as they're the one that doesn't seem to have issues off the field at boardroom level which appears to be impacting any chance of a coherent recruiting system. The big thing for Brentford will be how they fill the void of Toney. 13. Bournemouth 14. Burnley I think both these teams have shown enough at the end of last season and with their recruitment that they are a step ahead of other teams perceived to be there level. I think there's worse teams than them now and they should be safe. 15. Fulham 16. Everton 17. Nottingham Forest 18. Wolves 19. Luton Town 20. Sheffield United I think the bottom three will be made out of three of these teams. If Moshiri interferes with Dyche then Everton could be in trouble, Maranakis seems to have diverted his lunacy to Olympiakos but if he interferes with Forest there could be trouble, Tony Khan appears to have poaked the Saudi bear who seem content on dismantling Fulham, Luton Town have a massive task ahead of them whilst the Wolves and Sheffield United owners don't seem to care. The bottom pack does feel significantly weaker than usual.
Danny
League Positions: 1. Man City 2. Liverpool 3. Arsenal This is the title race for me, but I think City’s late formation change last season will lend to a very strong campaign this season. Assuming Liverpool’s squad stays fit I think they have a frontline that will absolutely batter teams and might even win the league. Arsenal I think will push on from last season but will struggle in the league at some point with the Champions League back, not heavily struggle, but in relation to City. 4. Man Utd 5. Chelsea Realistically this will end up being the race for top 4, I think Europe might be too much for Newcastle to challenge all season in the league. Chelsea will be reborn but I also think a bit soft at times. United I think will probably improve on last season but the Champions League will be demanding with the league too. 6. Newcastle 7. Brighton 8. Tottenham 9. Aston Villa 10. Brentford I think any of these teams can challenge for a Europa League position or Conference. Tottenham might struggle if Kane goes and basing this solely off of one friendly, their defence looked woeful. Brighton and Villa I think will at some point prioritise winning European silverware over league position. Brentford will surprise a lot this season without Toney, I think Mbeumo and Lewis-Potter will have big seasons with Schade and Wissa also chipping in with a lot of support. If we get Brennan Johnson then it’ll only strengthen our hand. Mathias Jensen also looks a man possessed, could be a massive season for him. 11. Burnley 12. Bournemouth 13. West Ham 14. Crystal Palace I think Burnley might do a Fulham tbh and just try and blitz the league with pace and power, full on attack mode. Bournemouth I’m solely going off of the erection that Spanish pundits have for their gaffer, but I did also predict them to stay up last season and think they have more talent than given credit for. For West Ham I think this is the season Moyes goes and his replacement will get a boost out of that squad. Palace I originally thought would go down without Zaha (and Olise) but I think the power of Hodgson, Eze and Selhurst will keep them out of trouble. 15. Fulham 16. Luton 17. Everton 18. Nottingham Forrest 19. Sheffield United 20. Wolves This was a tough pick and in reality it could be anyone. I think Luton stay up, as a club they seem built the right way and that sort of organisation can take you further than you’d think. Plus Kenilworth will be a fortress. At this point I have Fulham staying up but if Mitrovic and Willian go theyre in big trouble. Honestly for Everton this seems the most them they could possibly be, another final day relegation battle that they stay up by the skin of their teeth. If they get a goalscorer they stay up. Forest are running on fumes and his name is Morgan Gibbs-White, I do not rate Cooper and think he’ll get sacked. They’re also in big trouble financially so yeah. Wolves will likely see Lopetegui walk at some point so theyre down too. Feel like Sheffield United relied too heavily on loans and now theyve sold their best player. Suspect Liverpool/Newcastle/Man Utd could all be interchangeable, and I think those 3 positions will only be decided on GW37 or GW38. Chelsea have no Europe so could arguably be involved in that top 4 fight all the way to the end. I think Postecoglou will have a good season with Spurs, but may lose games where they are drawing, or draw when they are winning. Opted for Brighton and Villa in that order based on their European participation - either way I'll be interested to see how they cope with the added games, and how it takes its toll on their squads. Reckon Burnley have a good first season back under Kompany, don't think they'll be in any danger of relegation at all. Next bunch of teams - Palace/Fulham/West Ham - similarly all interchangeable and perhaps good runs of form at some point in the season will keep them safe, along with picking up a point or 3 with some levels of inconsistency, but not enough to get dragged in to the relegation battle. Despite the lack of transfers at West Ham, I think they'll eventually be okay. Despite losing Zaha, think Palace still have enough about them to be safe. The final 6 I think are in for a rough ride. Wolves just seem to have lost all spark and off-field issues always end up filtering their way down on to the players/the pitch. I don't see enough in Everton to improve on last season, and perhaps will only go down purely because there are 3 teams worse than them. Would love Luton to do well and surprise everyone by surviving, but I just don't see it. Perhaps a couple of surprise victories along the way, but nothing sustained to keep them up. Sheff Utd seem to be losing a fair few players, without adequate replacements I think they'll come straight back down.
