The Artful Dodger Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 There's something to be said for keeping the same team together, only thing you worry about is injuries. Last year everything went right for Liverpool, none of their better players missed any significant periods of the season. Will they cope if one of them goes out for a long time this year? Shaqiri or Origi replace Salah or Mane? Quote

Shaqiri or Origi replace Salah or Mane? The big benefit imo is that there are no tournaments at the start of the second half of the season anymore. AFCON used to cause havoc and seeing as Salah and Mane would have had to depart for it, its a blessing in disguise that they moved the tournament. I shudder to think what would happen if we lost two of our front three to injuries but its a risk Klopp is willing to take and I don't think he'd have taken it without some kind of backup plan which he sees more than anyone else in training. Chaaay AFC Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 (edited) I suppose the return of Chamberlain and Keita now being more settled will be a big bonus for Pool. It’s hard to massively improve on the current squad and there is no point buying just for the sake of it. You’re a bit lacking in depth at full back for me, but it’s hard to find quality players who are willing to play that role. Not to mention you have players like Milner and Gomez who fill in well. Overall I think it’s just a case of Liverpool playing it smart, the market is just out of control currently and the Prem market is absolutely horrendous. Edited August 7, 2019 by Chaaay AFC 1 Quote
Rick Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 I'm just worried if one of our front three get injured. It means a prolonged run in the side for Origi and he is nowhere near the level of our first choice players. Quote
LFCMadLad Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Nathaniel Phillips has today signed a new long-term contract and has immediately joined VfB on a season’s loan. Hope the loan goes well because hes a very decent talent. Quote

He won't make it at Liverpool but the contract retains some sort of value for the club which is a good thing of course Quote
Dr. Gonzo Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 This is pretty decent news, all things considered: If it's a grade 2 tear, apparently the average time out is 4-6 weeks. It's obviously not ideal, because he's a phenomenal keeper. But it's better than losing him for several months. Quote
LFCMike Posted August 10, 2019 Posted August 10, 2019 Who will be the keeper on the bench on Wednesday then? We have a lad out on loan and another injured I think? Quote
LFCMike Posted August 10, 2019 Posted August 10, 2019 Sounds like we might offer Lonergan a short term deal Quote
LFCMadLad Posted August 10, 2019 Posted August 10, 2019 Conflicting reports regarding Alison. Some saying calf strain, some saying Alison heard a 'pop' which could mean a big rupture. If it's the later then we might not see him again till after xmas. What a bastard either way. Quote

Pop would probably mean his Achilles. And he’d probably miss the season. As he’s expected to be 4-8 weeks it’s probably a calf tear. Quote

Subscriber CaaC (John)+ Posted August 12, 2019 Subscriber Posted August 12, 2019 (edited) Mohamed Salah visits a young fan who ran into a lamp-post while chasing his car Louis had his picture taken with Mohamed Salah before his family had "the chance to clean him up" Footballers often inspire unswerving devotion, but one boy has felt the full force when he hit a lamp-post while running after Mohamed Salah. Louis Fowler was trying to get the Liverpool striker's attention, who was driving out of the club's training base on Saturday when he ran into the post. The Reds fan fell and "busted his nose", his stepfather Joe Cooper said. He added that they were "gobsmacked" when Salah soon turned up at their home nearby to check on Louis' condition. Mr Cooper told the Liverpool Echo that Louis and his brother, who live near the Melwood training base, had been spending their summer holidays trying to get pictures of their footballing heroes. "Unfortunately, Louis went straight into a lamp-post while running after [Salah's] car and busted his nose when he hit the floor," he said. Neighbours took Louis and his brother home, only to be followed shortly afterwards by Salah, who had turned back. "It all happened so quick we hadn't even had the chance to clean him up," Mr Cooper said. "He'd seen one of the boys had hurt himself and he had the decency to drive back into the close to check that he was OK. No-one could believe it. Everyone was gobsmacked. "Mo asked if the boys were all right and gave them a big hug, which was what they both needed. They were made up and Louis forgot all about being injured." The young brothers were "made up" at meeting their hero Louis was later treated at Alder Hey Children's Hospital, where he was the "talk of the hospital" because of his encounter. Mr Cooper said: "The face is a bit sore but he is great! He can't stop smiling!" Since joining Liverpool from Roma in 2017, Salah has been praised for his high-scoring performance on the pitch as well as his charitable work off it, including tackling Islamophobia. The Egyptian striker was the only male footballer to feature in Time magazine's list of the world's 100 most influential people of 2019. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49313879 Edited August 12, 2019 by CaaC (John) Spelling corrections Quote

LFCMadLad Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 Alison to miss between 2 - 3 months, depending how quick his calf heals naturally. Fucking brilliant. Quote
