Erik Ten Hag Sadly Sacked by Man Utd

I basically put West Ham to beat them entirely on the basis it would be enough to get him out the door just before they play us twice. Absolutely typical.

I'm really baffled by just quite how bad Ten Hag actually was. Translating success at Ajax to Manchester United isn't easy but the complete lack of basically anything was astounding. I said it in the match thread - in 2024 they have been no exaggeration one of the worst teams in the league. The cup win a complete freak anomaly amongst this.

Van Nistelrooy will get a few good results, Rio Ferdinand will declare 'Man Utd are back' and they'll give it to Van Nistelrooy permanently before it all goes tits up a few months down the line.

This is pretty clearly what will happen as well. They've a serious problem at that club. Obsessed with the past. Their new owners should ban any association from the Fergie era.

Their upcoming run is perfect for an unsustainable new manager bounce too.

The fact that it's been abject failure for years now is more an indication of poor recruitment than coaching imo.  I have no doubt that Ten Hag will go somewhere else and succeed.

More recently & relevantly the 2020/21 season featured Arsenal finishing 8th after spending an extended part of early season much lower, with all kinds of angsty fans & fairly sure had Xhaka giving some back to the fans. With Arteta as manager.

To follow in your more avant garde style, Huw Edwards was the Welsh & white Trevor McDonald that recently..

8th place, which was no worse (or better) than the previous years finish of 8th. The only signings of any relevance and over £10m were Gabriel and Partey, compared to half a billion pound spunking by Ten Hag and significant drop from 3rd to 8th.

What you’re saying is really as comparable as a walking holiday with Jay Slater or a worldwide cruise with a golden toilet in your room.

I'm not convinced he will, but I can't really say that with any certainty either. He has overseen a lot of this dreadful recruitment himself.

They really need an overhaul. A ruthless manager who needs to bin some of these jokers.

Putting it mildly. Someone needs to carve through that dressing room like a fucking hurricane and send some useless cunts to Everton.

Lindelof
Maguire
Fernandes (for attitude and being a shit cunt, not for lack of talent)
Hojlund
Rashford (should have happened 6 years ago)
Diallo
Casemiro
Antony

All heads that must roll if this team is ever going to find its feet again.

I've not been suggesting they should not get rid of ten Hag.

West Ham won a first trophy since the early 80's & got rid of their manager soon after. It is the way football is these days.

The main point I was originally making was that winning what the Fergie era considered the lesser trophies is just perhaps as good as it gets for Man United for some time. Explain how this is factually incorrect Mr Ineos?

No club will ever be a happy place unless it can celebrate what it achieves.

I'd want virtually anybody who's been there 3+ years to be culled as they've been a part of what feels a monthly humiliation ritual. But the problem with this is Ten Hag signed a load more rubbish himself and this isn't really viable as a result.

That last part is key to me. I think Ten Hag was fortunate that Lingard and Pogba left when he arrived, then he deserves credit for how he handled Ronaldo trying to make everything about himself. The top of the hierarchy in terms of toxicity had been removed in 12 months and they had a good season.

He then however created a rod for his own back when he spent so much on Antony and seemingly treated him different to others he tried to shift on. Players who probably do need shifting on, but when the manager is tactically inept and treating players different, it becomes a real problem.

Two summers ago se said United needed to get there next 5/6 signings spot on. Then in came Onana, Mount etc. I think this summer was much improved but it feels like they need to nail the next wave because half that squad shouldn't be there.
