Edin Džeko Close to Deal with Chelsea

Roma has a big game today against Sampdoria, and Edin Dzeko is reported to be out of the starting XI as the Bosian is close to be agreeing a move to Chelsea.

Di Francesco did state yesterday that he was intending to play Edin, but not it's being 'leaked', that Roma will go with 3 up front tonight of Nainggolan, Schick, and Defrel, meaning Dzeko is more than likely gone.

Emerson Palmieri is also reported be out, which means Roma is more than likely losing two of their best players after already losing Salah to Liverpool.

Emerson must be in his late 40's now surely?

He and Juninho got bossed by Garry Parker and Neil Lennon in the 1997 League Cup final.

Roma continuing to be a supermarket. Their transfer dealings recently have been exceptionally poor.

Yet to come close to replacing Salah and now Dzeko close to leaving with very limited time to bring someone in.

After the only but that I would put in Conte’s tenure so far in charge of Chelsea as head coach in terms of his administering of Diego Costa, signing a player like Džeko would go some way into adjusting that unbalanced squad situation where the front line is in question.  Edin Džeko would be a very good player to have to rotate or even play along side Morata... It would relieve the solitary campaigning Álvaro Morata has to do up front when we consider that at Real Madrid he played in a front two as he also did at Juve.

Dzeko transfer being held up due to negotiations of contract length.

Dzeko is like Kane, scores goals but not that great at anything else, if you want a pure goal threat he will be good for you, he's great in the air too but nothing special at passing and is slow

Dzeko transfer now rejected as the player wants more than a 1.5 year contract. Looking for 2-3 years.

Expected. And they wonder why Conte moans

Don’t know why Dzeko would be unhappy with a 1.5 year contract?

See it out, leave on a free, pick up a huge signing on fee with massive wages for another club ....Happy days!

Unless he’s thick?

Better question is why not see out his desired 2 years? Emerson looks to be off as well as he was part of the deal.

Shame really but should of known better, as they are players that would actually improve us.

Rondon and Leighton Baines obviously the likely candidates. Probably the same price too.

Why let a deal fall through over 6 months?

If he had any brains he’d be snatching Chelsea’s hand off.

Who knows. Would be so typical of our board to cock up negotiations like with Llorente and Sandro in the summer.

Nothing concrete and I'm still assuming they are negotiating.

He's waiting for United to pay him 500k a week

That’s my point! In today’s game, the shorter the contract the better if you want to earn the maximum throughout your career.

Keep running down your contract, sign for another club with a massive signing on fee and higher wages.

Why would any established player that attracts interest sign a long term deal?

The latest news from Italy is that the reason the transfer of Džeko to Chelsea has complicated itself is because Roma’s technical director for sport,  Monchi, has stopped the move.  There seems to be a split aat boardroom level on what Monchi wants and what he’s permitted to do.

also if Giroud is going to Chelsea then they don't need Dzeko and Chelsea have probably told Roma as such.

I think the Giroud to Chelsea scenario is a situation that has occured out of the blue because of the fact Giroud doesn’t want to move away from London because of his wife.  What’s for sure is that Roma stopped negotiations with Chelsea for Džeko yesterday and from there other rumours have grown...  I would rather have Džeko than Giroud myself to be honest although the good thing about Giroud (at least at Arsenal) is that he’s never really kicked up to much of a public fuss when he lost his first team place and was given more of a role coming off the bench.
