nudge Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 A real eye candy: AWAKEN is a feature documentary that explores "humanity's relationship with technology and the natural world." "Shot over a 5-year period in more than 30 countries, the film pioneers new time-lapse, time-dilation, underwater, and aerial cinematography techniques to give audiences new eyes with which to see our world. AWAKEN is a celebration of the spirit of life, an exploration of the Earth, and an ode to the Cosmos." 2 Quote

But to be a real Debbie Downer, I saw a documentary about those fishers seen around the 00:17 mark. They're not even fishers anymore, they just pose for tourists like that for money 1 Quote

They're not even fishers anymore, they just pose for tourists like that for money That's Sri Lanka, isn't it? And no wonder, being tourist props is definitely more lucrative than fishing on a pole haha. It's similar to the Intha fishermen in Burma who have a weird technique of using huge cone-shaped nets while standing on the stem of the boat and paddling with one leg. They turn to being tourist attraction as well, simply because fish supply and sales are falling due to commercial trawling. 1 Quote

IgnisExcubitor Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Haven't read the book, but this looks interesting. The book seems highly rated, so I will read the book, before this movie comes out next year. Quote

Bit of a low-budget Leo. Quote

From the trailer it seems like a terrible choice. And where are the boobs? As for movie, it looks like a cheap nineties B movie. From the first impression it seems like it will be a flop. Quote
