Fairy In Boots Posted July 7, 2019 Author Posted July 7, 2019 Its £20m and that puts us to close to £70m £20m Mings £8m El Ghazi £11m Targett £22m Wesley £4m Hause £4.5m Guilbert Total £69.5m I think we will see 3-4 more and I expect it to be around £120m total spend

Were much changed compared to the ness that crashed out a few years back, there’s a structure in place now, a proper scouting network is in effect. This has probably come 12 months early but oh well we’ll give it a go, long term though I expect Villa to be challenging the top 6 within 3-4 years. NSWE have serious money, the stadium will be 60,000 in 2-3 years and we will fill it, we were getting 42k at time in the championship, has always been said you play attacking competitive football and they will come. They’ve sold 30k plus season tickets alone this year with the tv deal not accounting for merch we’ll turnover about £220m this year. I’m realistic 10-15th will be a good start but I expect us to kick in and keep strengthening in Jan
Inverted Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 He's not "worth" it by most people's common sense, but it's an absolutely sensible transfer from Villa's perspective. He knows the team and the manager, he's a reliable option, he's developed well over the last couple of years and is still to peak arguably, and he'll be able to play a few seasons and then still have good resale value more down the line.
Subscriber Dan+ Posted July 8, 2019 Subscriber Posted July 8, 2019 He's a lot older than I thought he was to be honest. Cannot help but feel Villa are shelling out a lot of money for very ordinary players.

Cannot help but feel Villa are shelling out a lot of money for very ordinary players. We’ve spent £39m for a defensive back 4 in Mings, Hause, Targett & Guilbert, in that context it’s not bad. Especially if we get Cahill on a free to Mings & Hause came on leaps and bounds under Smith & special mention for JohnTerry who Mings himself has credited with elevating his game.
Administrator Stan Posted July 8, 2019 Administrator Posted July 8, 2019 Isn't Mings the one who's knees are fucked and he kept getting long-term injuries up til not too long ago? £20m is a bit steep.
Fairy In Boots Posted July 8, 2019 Author Posted July 8, 2019 Many none villa fans question the price, yeah it’s inflated but that’s the market now. In terms of him being a villa player I’m very happy

In comparison, Fulham practically bought a brand new team (bar Mitrovic).

He had a bad injury that robbed him of almost 2 years at Bournemouth, he needed a run of games which he got here and proved himself. Touch wood he stays free because he gets it. The passion, the humour, the effort all of it resonates with the fans and at 26 he’s a senior player here now. Leading chants after Wembley to turning up in full kit 24hours later in Bournemouth, which his reveal parodies.
IgnisExcubitor Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 He's been at Villa, knows the system and players. So, there will be no time spent on adapting to his role or new club. At the end of the season, if Villa survive, then all this money will seem far small compared to what they will gain.
Danny Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 I was Villa on Fifa 19 and got promoted in the first season, people think they’ve spent a lot but they needed to. They had barely any permenant defenders or strikers
Lucas Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Even more astonishing to see Brentford with Jansson for £5.5m and Mings at Villa for £20m. Never four times the player. I do feel he's a decent player though, never got going at Bournemouth. Looked good last season although PL is different gravy. He would thrive for me being first choice and as a captain too, especially at centre back. Not stuck out at left back where wingers expose him. Cahill would be a great partner actually if they got him. Good experience. Dare I say Delph too on the cheap. Would sit well with Grealish and McGinn in front. I feel Villa need more Premier League experience. Can't say I'm that sold on some of the acquisitions. Gambling a lot on some of those incomings for me. Targett was an odd one because he's an average reserve for a poor Southampton side. They robbed Villa there. Villa need a Keeper, defensive mid, another winger and Striker for me. As long as none are Kalvin Phillips obviously.

Keeper will be Tom Heaton as they’ve given up on Butland. Winger is Trézéguet the Egyptian one. DM maybe Phillips if not we’ll go abroad. Striker i’d like Maupay, but think that will depend on shifting Hogan.

That's a striker who'd been flagged up to me a few times as someone we ought to have had a go for but never mind. He's another gamble at his price but there's potential there for sure. As stated previously, I'm not quite sold on their business and think they're paying a lot for ordinary players.
Subscriber Dan+ Posted July 9, 2019 Subscriber Posted July 9, 2019 Heaton would be a decent signing actually. Delph absolutely no chance.
