  2. In America you have to understand their history to understand their culture. 1776 and the constitution is deeply embedded into the psyche of Americans, manifests in many different ways. America took it upon itself to be independent and free of their current government, which you can see manifested today as a culture that expects no help from the government in terms of personal success, it is deeply stigmatised to accept support from the government, ,and people are really expected to 'pull themselves up by their bootstraps'. It creates a huge desire for social mobility, in Australia or the UK, being working class can be something to be proud of, working with one's hands and earning a honest life, not so much in America, one is expected to always want more and to show it off with flashy possessions. Rather than band together and create an environment that benefits the most people, Americans have setted on 'I've got mine, you get yours' based on the merit of individual success. A person is defined by their earning power, not their virtue or actions, and I fear this is becoming deeply prevalent in other countries due to American mass media exportation. There is also a bizarre double think that many fall prey, the obsess over the ideal of 'don't tread on me' for fear of a tyrannical government but many will bootlick the administration that panders to their desires the most. The both distrust the government, but idealise a government institution like the military despite the fact that'd be the hammer of the tyrannical government they fear. I really feel this is a nation of double standards, 'I love Jesus but hate Islam', 'Help the poor, but don't tax me', 'You can't tell me what to do, but arrest that person for breaking the law', 'It doesn't apply to me, but it applies to you'. Americans have great capacity for love and compassion but also an inherent greed and desire for more, money, clothes, food, sugar, coffee, drugs, entertainment, music, medicine, it drives them forward to innovate but in a very 'monoculture' way (how can I milk the cow for all it's worth?, do I abuse the soil to maximise my crop yield?). The short term over the long term, ,always looking for the quick buck. They cannot see the forest for the trees for what is good for America, only themselves.

  3. LEAVE.EU moved their Internet domain address to Ireland so that they can stay in the EU. Absolute joke how they took people for mugs and people lapped it up under the guise of sovereignty and 'taking back control'. Pathetic.

  7. Yes very predictable this will be the case. I often find with this particular government they struggle to own up, be honest, take responsibility or ownership of things. Anything going wrong is very rarely their fault, if ever, but if something goes right they're extremely quick to take credit for it. Take all the Covid-19 stuff. They've never held their hands up and said 'that was wrong, we apologise but we'll try and get it right next time'. It's always been public to blame (in some cases they are). But if something goes right, even if it's very late in the day they'll happily act as if it was all them. I guess when you have smarmy, snidey, slimey people like Patel, Gove, Raab and Hancock it's no surprise what their attitude is like and how they treat people worse off than them.

  11. I feel like theres very little you need to do with a Xenomorph based series as the creature itself just adds a level of scariness by its mere presence. I also wonder how Ridley feels after what I consider some batshit crazy awesomeness in Raised by Wolves.

  13. There's always pros and cons everywhere. You're not exactly part of the poor working class that is dependent on low paid jobs which you can't even quit because you have to feed your family though, are you? You're also privileged because you already have a choice due to your Canadian connection, most people living in third world countries don't. That will always make a huge difference in attitudes. Personally, I'm happier living in developing countries as well (for different reasons), but only when the source of my income is based in a developed country with a strong economy and high wages. There's no way I'd like to live in a third world country on an average third world wage though.

  14. Tbf it's not that long ago Colombia was a very unstable country ravaged by the USA's "war on drugs" with tons of instability and... civil war issues. It might have been ignorant of how Colombia is now, but it's not all that offensive that a reporter would compare it with a place that's had noted instability (and noted US influence and presence). It does show that the big talking heads on the big news networks are full of fucking shit. To me, though, the biggest similarity is with the Middle East. Particularly, America's projects in Iraq and Afghanistan where we've seen US buildings attacked and sieged by radicalised militia groups which... actually look a lot like the people attacking US buildings in the US itself.

  16. If kids are failed by anything, if they've lost something substantial, it's down to a lack of creative thinking in the education sector hierarchy and education policy. There's so many creative solutions to negate the situation that can be considered. More than just open the schools, close the schools, wear a mask, cancel exams. First time around the lack of creativity could be forgiven. This time? Don't think so. You've had months to prepare. Months of bad decisions like full class sizes.

  21. Talk is Gini has rejected the contract and has made up his mind to join Barca in the summer I’ll miss him, he’s a LFC legend for the last few seasons and the numerous massive performances he’s put in. And this season he’s been one of our best players imo.
