Almost all team names that are in reference to native Americans and currently being asked to change them. I am waiting until our baseball team, the Atlanta Braves, have to change their name.2 points

Today I made Burritos, with ground beef, cheddar cheese, tomatoes, bell peper, onion, garlic and corn. It turned out really well. Fried the Burritos in a bit of butter after folding it, which added even more flavour. Tomorrow I'm finally going to try Halloumi! Will make a Couscous Salad and an Avocado Hummus on the side. Looking forward to it!1 point

Correct - Here is what I found - Native American men who were well trained and prepared to defend their homeland and families.1 point

It's not named after a tribe, pretty sure it's a generic term used to refer to Native American warriors in the past. Don't think it's offensive in itself, either. But I can see how the Natives would find it in poor taste considering it's pretty much rich Whites making more money using Native American imagery & culture.1 point

We have an awful history in terms of how we treated native Americans, so I think the idea is to remove all licensing from professional teams. Braves, Indians, Chiefs, Seminoles, and the countless others. I'm not really bothered. It'd be weird to not be the Atlanta Braves one day, but we'll be alright. When the day comes, I hope we become the Atlanta Hammers, in honor of the greatest baseball player ever, Hammerin' Hank.1 point

That's how they all start in the beginning you know that... Any alien invasion starts with "We Come In Peace, we offer Prosperity and Enrichment" etc.etc.. Then late one night while doing his rounds the Newcastle cleaner stumbles across the new owners sucking all the poison blood out of an unconscious Steve Bruce through straws.. he moves in to take a closer look but knocks something over and gets spotted. They descend upon him hissing and spitting with their gecko like eyes scanning him ripe for suction but luckily being an ex marine/martial arts expert he is able to fight them off with his mop and a bottle of domestos... He legs it determined to tell the world what he has learned but everyone laughs when he tells his tale and think him just a daft wazzock and so he has to continue the fight alone.. By the time they find out the truth it will be far too late....1 point

Yeah, I noticed that as well. Reminded me of when the media tried to sanitize George W. Bush by sharing quirky photos of him and emphasizing how much he opposed Trump.1 point

Couldn't have said it better. I think this attitude surrounding user data and privacy is really what big tech banks on to continue operating the way they do. If you think about it, how many of us actually spend the time going through the security settings on our phones to ensure that we're not inadvertently sharing data we aren't comfortable with? It's all really just about the wording too when you think about it. How bad can sharing location data be with an app that actually uses it, e.g. Google Maps. On the surface its not such a bad idea till you take into account that the same geo-location data is used to generate so much other data related to user habits, etc which we all just shrug off as a necessity to ensure that the services work right. However, I guarantee you that the day Google has to start isolating location data is the day Google Maps dies an untimely death. Either ways I found that tweet rather hilarious in the way he absolved those other companies while targeting just one.1 point

Agreed, it doesn't make much sense to single out one of them and give a free pass to the others... Facebook has an awful business model, but so does other big tech companies, especially those that are based primarily on user data and content. They all have tapped into the market by using human psychology and manipulating it for profit. Also, maybe it's just me, but I can't stand the "[insert social media name here] is ruining society and human relationships" rhetoric or the even worse one - "internet and technology is ruining us". No, there are plenty of good uses for it all, but if the majority of people wants to use it as a replacement for interpersonal relationships and actual human interaction, or use it to one up each other and feel better about themselves by creating an alter ego with happier life, then it's just a manifestation of the human nature, shallowness, superficiality, insecurities and immaturity; don't have to blame technology for that. Also let's be honest, an average user doesn't even understand or care about the concept of privacy and is gladly sharing their personal data every day without second thoughts, with the classical answer "I dOn'T hAvE aNyThiNg tO hIdE" when asked about it. So why we're wondering, really?1 point

The delusion in this tweet about Big Tech is actually laugh worthy. It doesn't matter which company you talk about they are all using psychology to get you to stay on their platforms or buy more of their products.1 point

Just looked into it and looks like Nintendo do free repairs on them now (at least they do here). I think the Pro Controller is one of the nicer built controllers I've ever used, but hardly any of my Switch gaming is ever done on mine now - I often am using the Switch while our TV is in use. I also use it like I used to use a GameBoy when I'm on public transit/planes. So my Joycons have received heavy use. I might have to send mine in for repairs soon - but if I do that I'll probably buy a second pair so I can still play it as a mostly handheld device while they're being repaired.1 point
