  1. The WPL Cup will run alongside the league competition. All you have to do is continue to predict as normal. I'll do the rest! It looks like we have approx 18-20 competitors who predict regularly, however I have tagged everyone anyway. This tournament will commence from WEEK 17. That means the standings after next weekend's games (finishing 21st Nov) will determine how the groups will shape up. You'll only play each other once in the group stage. At the knockout stage, it will be 2 legs. For the final, it will be 1 leg. @Pyfish @Rucksackfranzose @Ploughendplonker @nudge @Tommy @CaaC (John) @Dr. Gonzo @Devil @Khan of TF365 @Eco @DeadLinesman @Viva la FCB @Mel81x @Reluctant Striker @SchalkeUK @Bluewolf @Foxc1 @Bluebird Hewitt @nawoo @Tzeentch @The Liquidator @Raja1991 If you have any questions, do let me know . Last year's Cup winner was @Pyfish - can he hold on to his crown?

  2. Isn't that just the nature of science? You learn more things as you go - and this was a novel virus when the first outbreaks started spreading. We are honestly fortunate that there was vaccine work done for SARS and MERS that could be built on for the current vaccines we have available and that we weren't having to have our scientists make a vaccine from scratch. I don't think scientists changing their mind about things they uncover about what was very recently a novel virus is that much of a concern - I think it would be weirder if scientists positions weren't changing based off what they've learned from their observations. I don't think viewing "science" as a know it all is really the right way to be looking at it. Scientists make their decisions based off what they observe and what they learn - the more we observe and learn from COVID the better their guidance will be. Using science to back decisions made for medical health/public health is very reasonable because it's based off what experts have observed and learned from. I think it's certainly better than relying on business decisions for matters of public health (because when you put profits ahead of public health, it'll dictate that everything goes back to pretty much what life was like pre-pandemic without much concern for how many people die of COVID) or what's politically convenient (which I think Boris Johnson still hasn't really learned )

  4. Just heard on the news from a professor/scientific expert that the risk of heart inflammation is much lower than first thought, including for younger people/children as well as adults. Just to reiterate, this was heard from a scientific expert as opposed to your average protein-shaking, steroid-taking, gym-goer. Just saying.

  5. Going well at Grimsby so far! Top of the league after 13 games and still unbeaten. We play Notts County next so expecting that one to be the one where we could end the streak.

  9. Can anyone stop @The Liquidator? He outscores his main competitors once again and increases the lead to 17 points. @Bluebird Hewitt and @Devil swap places, as do @Tommy & @Khan of TF365. @DeadLinesman is our top scorer with 18 points, and heads up to 7th spot. Next highest (along with the leader), was @Viva la FCB with 16 points and shot up to 10th. @Dr. Gonzo continues his gradual climb to 100 points... Don't forget - the WPL Cup 2021/22 begins in Week 17!! The table after Week 16 will determine the group stages. More info HERE

  10. It is becoming disturbing how social media (specifically Twitter) is used to whip up hate mobs to get people sacked from their jobs, or to get things they don't like censored. The level of irreverence companies treat social media with means that they will freely and willingly acquiesce to whatever a witch hunt orders them to do.

  12. Haven't played in two weeks. Its literally impossible to get a handle on the AI difficulty right on this game. Not only does it vary wildly from track to track but you come back the year after and suddenly you're 0.8 seconds off the pace for no discernable reason. I just can't be arsed spending all weekend at each GP second guessing whether the difficulty is set right going into qualifying and then ending up either half a second behind or ahead of my current teammate Sainz. It's just too frustrating to have spent the time getting the difficulty nailed in the first season only for it to be a complete waste of time. I expect it to get no better in future games with EA purchasing Codemasters. Shame.

  15. The right wing who call everyone who disagrees with them snowflakes once again doing Olympic-level mental gymnastics and Covid fan-fiction because wearing a mask and putting a needle in their arm for half a second is far too scary for them.

  18. The amount of shit the American right wing has said about Fauci, because he's taken the virus seriously and advocated that people alter the way they live (temporarily) so that the US can get over the virus, is absurd. A lot of people have made up their minds: they don't care how many people die or if they get sick/get others sick - they just want their lives to be like they were before the pandemic whatever the cost. So they are willing to vilify those that are telling them what they don't want to hear. I think EVERYONE wants their lives to be what they were pre-pandemic... but most people don't want to get sick or get other people sick. The way people can actually achieve freedom from the virus is if we've got enough people vaccinated worldwide. It's likely that COVID is here to stay - it'll be endemic and probably impossible to fully eradicate.

  19. Tucker Carlson is an absolute moron and shouldn't be listened to by anybody. And Rand Paul isn't stupid, but he's a very dishonest man that is just using the virus and the reactions to things like being told to wear masks or get vaccinated to score political points. Rand Paul's most upset by the world being impacted by COVID but doesn't want anyone to do anything that would mitigate the risk of COVID or move society on. And despite being vaccinated is a very loud voice against people being vaccinated. He's a hypocritical arsehole playing up "freedom" for political points while offering no way forward to provide society with actual freedom from the virus.

  21. @Stan @Dan Khanya Leshabela is a good free agent to pick up from Leicester City after the first season for a League One / Championship club. I wanted a central midfielder that could drive with the ball from midfield at Championship level but he's had the dual advantage of being a direct and creative winger too. Only 2k per week too!

  22. Maguire singing the National anthem? Should he be singing when he’s been poor for United? Anyway, would love to see England score something daft like 10. Most likely won’t as they’ll tail off in the second half but it’s possible these days with the players available.

  23. Science presents itself as a know all yet it does not know all just the things it is funded to study. Then if they find a reaction or correlation they ask for volunteers who are all meant to be in good health to test their hypothesis. Now the companies pushing this will have shareholders and so publicity is carefully controlled so as to not affect the share price....... and then you have MPs receiving money for lobbying. I like history and remember Alexander the Great from northern Greece being in modern day Pakistan and his army revolting saying after 12 years on campaign they wanted to return home. Many of these were in their 60's and 70's. No vaccinations, drinking dubious stream and river water with just one meal a day.

  31. West Ham under David Moyes 2017-18 season, offered him a 6-month contract as the hammers were fighting relegation, he saved them then they never offered him another contract and bought in Manuel Pellegrini, the same old story they were fighting relegation again, sacked Pellegrini and then came back and asked Moyes to save their skins again with an 18-month contract, we all know the rest.

  34. I was reading the other day about a couple who pulled out of a child adoption when they found out they were not allowed to post images of the child on the internet for up to a year so it kind of tells you all you need to know about them really... An adoption is a serious commitment not something to show off with.. As soon as they found out it might affect the amount of likes they get on social media they pulled out.. now that is some proper sad shit.. What would be even sadder is if that story was completely made up by someone to get attention themselves... The saddest ones are those that make up fake illness and get funded by hundreds of people and they just cash in and abuse it like that woman who claimed to have brain cancer but went on to claim she beat it with a few sticks of celery and bean soup diet or some shit, she received hundreds of thousands of pounds in support and a book deal with her recipes in it.. She got found out eventually but the worrying thing was that she was influential in getting a lot of people to give up proper treatment in the belief of her story... The other sad ones are those women that claim they don't like to be treated as sex objects but then post a ton of pics legs akimbo in skimpy bikinis/underwear on beaches or round the house etc.. or those that focus the image to get in as much cleavage or arse as possible... Not that those types of images bother me obviously the more the better but don't start crying when you get told you are 'hot' or whatever and you start getting dick pics.... The other sad ones are those self promoting heroes and influencers... they can go fuck themselves, always telling you how they saved this or got involved in that etc.. as if it wasn't for them whole towns would have collapsed... Proper heroes and good people keep fighting the fight without needing adoration and posting pictures up every day on their twitter account...

  40. Fulham won something like five out of the last six to stay up one year, that always goes under the radar a bit. Joe Thompson beating cancer twice and then coming off the bench to keep Rochdale in League One will forever remain unbeaten, mind.
