Subscriber CaaC (John)+ Posted August 30, 2019 Subscriber Share Posted August 30, 2019 Newcastle's Matt Ritchie faces two months out with ankle injury Newcastle's Matt Ritchie could be out for two months with the ankle injury he suffered in Wednesday's Carabao Cup second-round defeat by Leicester. The Scotland midfielder, 29, suffered ligament in what manager Steve Bruce described as a "horror challenge" by Hamza Choudhury. "There is ankle ligament damage, bone bruising, cuts," said Bruce. "Thankfully it's not six months, but it's bad enough when it's the best part of eight weeks." After the game at St James' Park, which Leicester won on penalties following a 1-1 draw, Bruce said: "These tackles are the ones that damage you. "Let's hope the young lad learns from it because he's a good player, the kid. But obviously it doesn't help us and Matt in particular." In June, 21-year-old Choudhury apologised for an "over-aggressive" tackle on Jonathan Bamba during England's European Under-21 Championship defeat by France. Choudhury was sent off and Bamba went to the hospital for X-rays. Ritchie, usually a winger, has operated at left wing-back this season, starting Newcastle's three Premier League games. Jetro Willems, a possible replacement, is doubtful for Saturday's home game against Watford. It was forceful but he got the ball and Ritchie pussied out of it. Choudhury doesn't need to learn from it. His kind of style isn't something you want to necessarily coach out of someone. The idea of signing Bentaleb will be more than interesting and if they manage to complete the season without at least a bloody lip each it will be a surprise. Nabil has a fixed temperament which does not tolerate control being pointed at him - his dressing room antics and attempts to cause groups and cliques against the idiots upstairs caused his coaches problems (and we have a lot of those which didn't help!)- he may well get on with Mr Bruce, but for heaven's sake keep him away from the shopkeeper! The Public Investment Fund is leading the purchase on behalf of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, together with a group of investors organised by Amanda Staveley, the British businesswoman based in Dubai who has previously failed in a bid to buy the football club. Ashley is currently out of the UK on other business, but sources at United say he is unimpressed that the takeover talks have leaked into the public domain. The same sources have indicated to Chronicle Live that there is no bid in place or agreement and that it is business as usual at St James' Park. Since the Magpies' 0-0 draw with Oxford United in the FA Cup, it has emerged that the Public Investment Fund would fund 80% of the deal and the other 20% would be covered by PCP Capital Limited, headed by Amanda Staveley, but ultimately back on the scene having failed to buy the club from Ashley two years ago. But while Ashley is not happy that the discussions have leaked out before an agreement was made, there has been no denial from the powers that be that the talks took place in the last four months. The news broke via the Wall Street Journal who has since updated their story to indicate British billionaires David and Simon Reuben are also part of the consortium. They say that Jamie Reuben, 33, David’s son, would play an "executive role at Newcastle". Toon owner Ashley previously lost patience with Staveley in 2017 after a proposed takeover from PCP Capital Partners failed to get off the ground. Back then sources close to him passed on a statement which read: "Attempts to reach a deal have proved to be exhausting, frustrating and a complete waste of time." But even though Staveley is involved again, the reality is Ashley will sell at the right price. A sum of £350million was supposedly the magic figure last time around, but nobody at the club is prepared to put an exact price on it at the moment. Even then, if it is stood up that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s investment tool - the Public Investment Fund - is at the heart of the deal, they certainly have the capacity to pull it off. But that overall package is yet to land on the table in the eyes of the Sports Direct magnate. Ashley has previously insisted he will not stand in anybody's way if they have the money. He said in the summer: "The day someone buys Newcastle, they'll do their due diligence - and finished. "It will happen like Manchester City. By the time the media find out, it's already complete. "There's no need for a delay with Newcastle.
