Smiley Culture Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 The players on The Chase need to be more tactical when deciding what offer to take, if they want to win.

Most superhero/comic book movies are crap. Godfather II is better than Godfather I. Saving Private Ryan has one great scene and is brilliant visually but the overall storytelling is awful. Shawshank is a masterpiece of a movie mate. Private Ryan is a big budget Hollywood movie, they are always visually stunning but easy to predict. Amazing movies for me come from nowhere, smaller budgets acted out by breakthrough actors. One that immediately springs to mind is Room, imagine how cheap that was to make yet from the second it started to the moment when the child realised he maybe liked his simple life more it had me gripped.
Devil Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 Onward is the best Disney movie I've watched. I actually had to fight back tears in the cinema.

Oh I definitely understand the almost-universal appeal of Shawshank, but personally, I don't think it's even close to being a masterpiece or one of the best movies ever. It's pretty much a Hallmark movie, just with bigger budget and good actors.

Requiem for a Dream is garbage. You had me until Requiem, but the rest is correct Was funny rewatching Shaving ryans privates noticing how many cameos and small roles of known actors there was. Other then that pretty average movie. I honestly cant remember the last superhero movie ive watched I just dont care anymore, there all kind of the same. Actually it was Venom because Tom Hardy is a beautiful man, but even then as great as he was (and he was great) it just didnt do anything for me. Godfather 3 was much like mafia 3 Nah I actually dont think it was as bad as everyone says it just gets ragged on more as it wasnt nearly as good as the previous for sure but on face value it was ok.

Devil-Dick Willie Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 House of cards, even at its best, was comically bad in places. Absolute garbage.
Ploughendplonker Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 Absolutely despised How I Met Your Mother. The Cleveland Show was very funny. Might not be quite as unpopular this one but Benidorm (the ITV sitcom) has been absolutely appalling the last series or two. With so many characters to work with, hard to believe it's as bad as it has been.

Its actually on you tube the full version. Someone said in the comments that they would never make a gangster movie as good as that in now days. However the Irishman had better reviews from critics and the general audience. It was a bit to long for me though
Guest Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 Friends hasn't aged well. I know some people said people were being snowflakes but there are some parts of friends that I wouldn't want a modern program to have in them. However I dont believe in censoring it. I think alot of old tv programmes should have a warning that they contain some outdated ideas

Of course, like anything, it would be made differently now but struggle to see why it'd need a content warning.

The lesbian wedding, Ross had two interracial relationships. But there were some things which could quite rightly be considered very out of date. When I say a warning I mean an advisory one like when you warn that something has strong language etc. I dont mean a massive warning just a mention. There are more than this but some of the ones I can remember are that there was this ongoing joke about Chandler being gay. It could be considered slightly homophobic. Bare in mind that gay people have been persecuted for years and still are at times so you can understand them being offended by it. There was also the continuing story about his dad being transgender which again could be considered transphobic. Although they do make up in the end throughout the show it is generally considered a negative thing. Also one that I didnt notice but many pointed out. When Rachel's Italian boyfriend touches phoebe without her permission. The main part of the story is that he has tried to cheat on Rachel not that he has touched phoebe without her permission. Nothing is mentioned of how wrong that is.I think that one is actually one of the worst. There is also the fact that Joey uses women all time for sex then doesnt ring them. Like I said I dont mean a massive warning just an advisory note. These arent jokes that may offend some people these are things that are generally considered not acceptable today so I think its important to mention it. I also think it would help because it means we arent censoring things but we are at least acknowledging that parts of it were wrong

I think a lot of people automatically assume that anything with a cold, sleek aesthetic and good actors is a quality drama, and any series/film which has those things will be universally revered no matter what. See: House of Cards, Gone Girl, and Billions. Like, "It looks and sounds really smart, so I should like it". Margin Call is a counter example that actually just is really good.

Very underrated film especially when its compared to its counter part "The Big Short". Jeremy Irons was excellent. Had only 15-20 minutes of screentime and stole the show.
