Guest Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 I am thinking about getting Netflix. May get amazon prime but probably netflix. I've noticed if you get the cheap package it isnt available in HD. Do you still get all the same choice just not in HD? Or is some of it HD only?

Got both, don't know about the HD bit but I will go by what nudge said, out of the 2 they are both the same really but getting onto Netflix is a lot quicker as that is in our Virgin Package Deal, with Amazon I use a Fire Stick so it takes a couple of minutes longer and the info on the films is not as good as Netflix.
Azeem Posted October 7, 2021 Posted October 7, 2021 Owners of both probably watch pirated movies together sitting on pile of our money
MUFC Posted October 7, 2021 Posted October 7, 2021 Own both. I find Netflix to be much quicker and smoother and Prime to be on the slower side. Especially when pressing back on the control, Netflix is super quick but Prime seems to take much longer. Both have great shows and some real shit. For series I prefer Netflix overall. But the better documentaries for me have been on Prime.

I like using Netflix more - and out of all the different streaming services I have ever used (and I've used a shitload now)... I think they have the best UI and things just work better on Netflix. I actually hate getting around the Amazon app on my TV, I think it's a pretty shit interface and it loads very slowly. I do like that Amazon's got sporting events and sometimes other live events. And giving the original Top Gear crew The Grand Tour and giving them an outrageous budget means I'll use it just for that.
nudge Posted October 8, 2021 Posted October 8, 2021 I hate the UI of both Netflix and Prime. Search and browsing is horrible in both, too. Tags and genres are all messed up, makes their library look tiny, and their suggestions are total crap. Is it that hard to just make a proper list of EVERYTHING in their streaming library, properly categorised by genre, release date, title, etc? Any illegal pirated stream site has better and more intuitive search than those two... Thankfully, other people do their job for them. This is the site I use when I want to find something on Netflix or Prime: https://www.movieofthenight.com/catalog/netflix

I bookmarked yours too, for those nights when you simply can't decide and want someone to just choose a random movie for you to watch. So many time wasted trying to find something to watch, and then just going to bed after two hours of unsuccessful searching And yeah, I liked that movieofthenight site, that's everything in one place, just how it should be...

Yeah, there are codes you can use for each genre, but it's still shit and frankly, shouldn't be like that. I also watch a lot of it on my phone, and the search on the app is even worse.
Guest Posted October 16, 2021 Posted October 16, 2021 I got netflix, finally stopped stealing my sisters. Had a look through amazon didnt think it was for me.
6666 Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 Amazon Prime doesn't have enough of content. Especially when it comes to original content. Amazon Music isn't that great compared to Spotify either. All of which is good. I'd rather have companies that specialise in one area being the superior option rather than one company dominating everything.
Guest Posted October 21, 2021 Posted October 21, 2021 I might use my account in my parents house when I go over. I will probably let them use it as well. What happens if we both try to use it at the same time with the single account does it just not work?

What happens if we both try to use it at the same time with the single account does it just not work? Depends on your plan. Is it Basic? If yes, then you can only use one device at a time, so if someone else tries using your account to watch something at the same time, they'll just get a message that the account is already in use on another device and it wil not work.
Lucas Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 Netflix is superior but they have to do something about these bullshit 'exclusive' Netflix films they make. They are lucky to hit the target, I don't think it's unfair to say two, or three out of every ten are watchable. I say this as someone that always get's sucked in
MUFC Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 A mix of series and movies has vanished from my list on Netflix. Round 7 in total, bunch of twats.
Harry Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 Not sure how this thread ever got made about just two streaming services when there's an out of control number of different competing options... You could drop $10 on each of those to get basically everything available which is utterly shite. We use Disney plus and get amazing value from that with the kids. We pay for Netflix and Stan but don't watch it much. I'm contemplating moving back to just pay per view, or purchasing the season of a show on the iTunes store as it would probably cost less and result in me actually feeling more excited about having something to watch
