Steve Bruce will hold face to face talks with Matty Longstaff in a bid to agree on a new contract at Newcastle United.
The ongoing contract wrangle has resulted in Serie A side Udinese making an approach for the young midfielder and offering him a five-year deal - reportedly at £30,000 per week.

I'd happily have him at Bremen if he were interested in coming to Germany, but i feel his full value won't be revealed until we strap a rocket to him and send him to pluto as an offering to marry their alien queen, insulting them beyond reason and launching intergalactic ww1, and then we steal all Plutos natural resources.

Is he that good? Thought he was the less talented brother and the talented ones not exactly amazing?

Who knows, he doesn't play. Scored home and away to Manchester United. Hasn't actually had any decent minutes against anyone pretty much but Man Utd, Chelsea and Wolves. Can't judge someone from that.

Hasn't played against any of the dross in the league. Bruce either won't give him a game or is being ordered not to as part of the negotiation strategy.

Matt Longstaff is about 3 years younger than Sean Longstaff, so it's not surprising that Sean is much more established in the Newcastle team. But they are both still young and they are both seen as players with potential. I think that Matt needs more playing time before a proper judgement can be made about him, but as Harvsky has said, he scored twice against Man United this season. His first goal for them was the winner against Manchester United on his Premier League debut, not bad for a teenager as he was at the time.

Gonna refrain from the usual ugly jokes just because he reminds me of Luke Chadwick and reading some of his thoughts on what he went through when he played for Man Utd is pretty horrific.

Won't stop making fun of Ribery though, he is a prick.

Does Ashley really not value him at all?

This is the way the club negotiates. Hard ball, low ball.

Invite him to train if he wants. Leave contract offer at club's desired level on table. If he goes somewhere else say you just can't compete with those wages.

Longstaff's agent is also likely part to blame for the way this is playing out. They'll go around looking for offers, then come back and see if Newcastle will match or beat it to avoid the humiliation of losing him to Leeds United because you wouldn't pay as much as they will.
