Moderator Tommy Posted September 15, 2020 Moderator Posted September 15, 2020 Quote https://www.espn.com/soccer/german-bundesliga/story/4182225/bundesliga-boost-as-fans-allowed-back-for-new-season Bundesliga boost as home fans allowed back for new season Bundesliga fans will be allowed back into stadiums when the new season kicks off with champions Bayern Munich hosting Schalke on Friday. Following a virtual meeting of the federal states' chancelleries on Tuesday, home fans will be allowed back in stadiums, with no away fans present, no alcohol allowed and a ban on standing. The German Football League (DFL) will allow 20% of capacity to be allowed in. However, if a 7-day coronavirus case average in a home city is above 35 per 100,000, a game must be played without spectators in attendance. The league agreed on a framework for the return of fans in August, with contract tracing regulations in place. Those attending matches will need to supply contact details in case of a new infections during the COVID-19 crisis. Every club has worked on location-specific hygiene concepts which includes prevention measures inside the stadium and on the way to the grounds. They must be approved by local health authorities before supporters are allowed back. In the German Cup on Monday, more than 10,000 supporters attended Dynamo Dresden's 4-1 win over Hamburger SV in the state of Saxony, while 300 were allowed back in when third-league club MSV Duisburg lost 5-0 at home to Borussia Dortmund. Sources have told ESPN that Dortmund's famed Ultras will not return to matches at present. Borussia Monchengladbach Ultras, meanwhile, released a statement that said while they understood the need to partially bring back fans, "visiting a stadium under that hygiene protocol has nothing even remotely to do with what we perceive as fan culture." The Bundesliga resumed on May 16 last season, becoming the first major football league to return amid the pandemic.
Subscriber Viva la FCB+ Posted September 15, 2020 Subscriber Posted September 15, 2020 Great news. I quite like the measured precautions as well. Win win.
Administrator Stan Posted September 15, 2020 Administrator Posted September 15, 2020 Great news. You lucky Germans!
Subscriber Mel81x+ Posted September 15, 2020 Subscriber Posted September 15, 2020 I like the 35/10K clause it just makes it better for everyone and teams get their fans back in stadiums. Well done Germany.
Subscriber Dan+ Posted September 15, 2020 Subscriber Posted September 15, 2020 Progress but still a largely watered down experience and for me it's just over the top. Don't get me started on England.
Moderator Tommy Posted September 15, 2020 Author Moderator Posted September 15, 2020 As as season ticket holder, I'm curious to see what news I'll receive in the next few days.

The approximately 11k would fit with the number of season ticket holders, but they're also allowing some of the sponsors associates in. So maybe 1-2k will only go to sponsor related people. We'll see.

Bluewolf Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Good for them if they can pull it off fairly safely.. Watching games over here without crowds really does make a difference to the whole atmosphere and even the few they had during our pre-season friendly at Brighton made a difference.. They were going to allow some for the actual League game but this rule of 6 probably scared them off the idea..

It must be an organizational nightmare for those clubs that have a home game this weekend.
Moderator Tommy Posted September 17, 2020 Author Moderator Posted September 17, 2020 No fans allowed at Bayern vs. Schalke due to increasing corona infections in Munich.
