What a shootout that was, so many top tier pens especially from the back 6 takers. Happy for Unai, only we could ruin his Europa reputation. xD

You know it's good when players with numbers above 30 are scoring them for fun.

Love when the keepers score them!

United made no attempt to win that in extra time and all but settled for penalties after about 75 minutes. You can’t blame De Gea, he’s not there to take penalties, you’ve got to place that on OGS.

Totally agree with this. Not much on the bench for United though to be fair with Martial out injured. Didn't see anything like the best from players like Rashford and Fernandes tonight. Villarreal were very well organised but the lack of creativity was poor from Man Utd. Didn't realise quite how short on options they are in attack, sure we'll see some investment in that area this summer...

Feel for De Gea but Man Utd really need to commit to Henderson for next season or bring in a new first choice. You can't really bash a goalkeeper for missing a penalty but some of the ones he conceded, just looked like on some of them he made it pretty easy for them by either diving too early or not at all, just didn't really look like saving any of them. From a man management perspective, it probably isn't ideal to go into a final with the old first choice goalkeeper returning to the side only recently having been dropped and being pretty aware his days as the number one are limited.

I said that the Solskjaer decision to not use any subs earlier was either going to be seen as a masterstroke or a complete joke and I’m afraid it was a complete joke as he settled for the draw and penalties and bided his time before making the subs as late as he could.

I accept and understand the bench wasn’t the strongest but, especially late in normal time and the first half of extra time, I think you’ve got to go for it somewhat and Telles, Mata and James should have been on far earlier than they eventually did.
