Can you remember the first item you purchased online?

Actually, yes. I Found No Peace by Webb Miller, bought it from the Book Depository at around 2008, I think. 

Edit: just checked it, it was in 2011.

No wait, that's wrong. I ordered several cameras and lenses years prior to that. Which one was the first, I couldn't possibly know. Some time between 2004-2008 though.

Never actually used Limewire. It was all about FTP servers at first, and then Napster, DC++ and eMule. Good times.

My first purchase was probably a book.  I was really into pulp fantasy and many of the books I was trying to find were out of print.  There was a used bookstore called The Dragon's Trove that I ordered from regularly.  I remember having to write out a check and mail it to them and then they would mail my books to me.  Good times.

Have never used Ares, actually had to google it as I haven't even heard of it  BitTorrent, yes sure, but only occasionally. I always prefered using file hosting services instead of P2P, especially back in the days when RapidShare and Megaupload were at their best before all the crackdowns later on.
