Subscriber JoshBRFC+ Posted June 4, 2023 Subscriber Share Posted June 4, 2023 Strange how rapid his decline was. One of the top few players in the world in his prime.
Dave
He has now retired. I'm surprised that he didn't find himself getting a lucrative Saudi contract given his name value. One of Chelsea's best players in the last ten years also turned out to be on the best pieces of business they did when they sold him.

He is still only 32, few top footballers retire at that age, unless they have a very serious injury. It's incredible really how his career went from great success at Chelsea, to real struggles at Real Madrid. He also carved an excellent career out with the Belgium national team, having played 126 international games and having scored 33 goals for Belgium. It will be interesting to see if he does a U-turn on this decision to retire from football.
Cicero
No he's always been a family man. Can't see him returning and even then his retirement is mostly down to not enjoying football anymore considering he's essentially suffering the same injury that took Van Basten out. Yes, I've just read Hazard's statement on his retirement, it doesn't sound like there is any chance that he will return to play again.
Subscriber Pyfish+ Posted October 12, 2023 Subscriber Share Posted October 12, 2023 Only saw Hazard play in person once and that was Chelsea's 4-3 win over Sunderland in December 2013. He scored twice and assisted one in that game and was incredible to watch.
Bluewolf
What an amazing player he was for us... Creative and driven and could conjure up a goal from nothing... We certainly saw the best of him, such a shame it went downhill so rapidly after his dream move but injuries and fitness kept him out of the side for long periods and when he was fit he was unable to command a place in the starting line up.. Wish him well for the future..
Dr. Gonzo
Bet he's so happy he can eat whatever he wants and doesn't have to worry about people calling him fat when he turns up to his first day of training for the season.
Subscriber Mel81x+ Posted October 12, 2023 Subscriber Share Posted October 12, 2023 Shame injuries got the best of him. Was quite the player to watch in his prime at Chelsea, he'd just maze through defenders and drag them all around the place too.
