He is the focal point of the attack but he drops so deep to make passes that Bellingham should be making. They erase eachother IMHO

Yeah your England would have been much better

Gareth literally just gave up the midfield, no faith in his own boys, Shaking my head.

You do have to wonder what direction he's being given. Can't be too hard to figure out to just stay up there.

Literally 90% of the problem here yet he was persisted with for so long.

Even when we were attacking he was flagging on edge of the box because he's burnt himself out running deep. He's not the right striker for this system because we don't have the central midfield runners in behind if Kane does drop deep.

As soon as Watkins came on their defenders were actually occupied deeper and gave space for Palmer and Bellingham to profit from.

There is no direction, Southgate just minimises risk and risk is averted when Kane is imitating a sweeper from 1970s.

What people won't talk about because he was supposed to be the golden boy, is that Bellingham was mediocre this entire tournament.

Fair. Expected more given the hype. Had some big moments but not consistent performances.

I was insistent to @Dr. Gonzo that Kane is a major problem and the focal points of attack need to shift to Saka, Bellingham, and someone like Palmer maybe. Play a striker like Watkins, that pushes hard and fast at the front, he doesn’t even need to necessarily be a goal threat, just occupying areas that open space, Instead you get Saka as a fullback, Kane imitating Pirlo, and Palmer sitting on the bench. Watkins pushing hher gives room to Bellingham to do the same IMO

I know it's easy to say that after the match, but it certainly felt a bit like the 2019 Champions League final regarding Harry Kane.

At that final, in my opinion Poch lacked the courage to drop a half-fit Kane in favor of a red-hot Lucas Moura, coming from a historic performance versus Ajax.

It was similar today. Watkins scored the goal that led England to the final only to find himself blocked by a ghost Kane.

After the first round of matches I had done a predictor thing and it turned out that Spain would win. Probably the easiest predictor in a while.

My bet for Alcaraz to win Wimbledon and Spain to win Euros came in then at 16/1.

Silver linings.

What you doing with the £17?

Bielsa for England

Bielsa is fine at Uruguay and I don't think he would want to deal with the backlash in Argentina that would come with coaching England, which is very different from coaching in England.

The argies truly hate England.

Juan Sebastian Verón, one of the finest argentinian players ever, is vastly despised by argentinian football fans due to his bad performance versus England in 2002.

They say he threw that game away because he played for Man United at the time.

Obviously, it's a stupid accusation but it shows the level of animosity.
