Carnivore Chris
Can you fish in Amstelpark lake? Just saw some huge Koi carp in the margins. I'd catch them easy with a little stalking rod! @SirBalon

You'll get some quiet and enjoy the nice beaches and a lot of local flavour. For the other options try Pondicherry (if you want a beach) or the Himachal Pradesh area if you want mountains. Is there a budget around this? No fixed budget as such, obviously prefer spending less over splashing the cash haha, but definitely willing to pay more as long as it's worth it... Let's say something around 2000€ a month.

Hotel, transportation, food, alcohol, etc. I went top notch places for two weeks. Ate out every meal, private taxis everywhere, etc. Wouldn’t have spent close to that - if I took out the actual flights to India and the one return flight within India. I spent way more than most I know who’ve travelled there. But I wanted a level of comfort. I can’t speak for Goa, maybe it’s more expensive but Bangalore, Delhi, Agra, Jaipur etc insanely cheap!

Good to know! I do think Goa is a bit more expensive, but probably not massively so. And yes, I also want a certain level of comfort these days, haha...
Carnivore Chris
So, I went for a little walk at 6:30 this morning(to smoke up all the rest of what I had left, as you do) before I had to head to the airport and randomly some fella is rolling blading down the street at like 60 mile an hour, wearing a pink mankini with a pink shower cap on, flying through the (quiet early morning) streets. Where else do you see shit like this? I could honestly write a book about the things I've seen there De Wallen was fucking rammed last night(I honestly think that if I'm to catch corona, it's from going down there!). Everything is pretty much normal other than nightclubs being shut, but rowdy bars with music are open, red lights are open, all coffeeshops are(most you can sit inside, only few are takeouts), restaurants are open to sit inside, even the likes of Mcdonalds are for sitting in. As for masks, you only see them on public transport, but you don't need them in the stations themselves, likewise, you only need masks at Schipol airport when going through customs and boarding. Vondelpark was normal, but they have big rings spray painted on the grass to keep a distance and people were doing so. Carnivore Chris
There was actually an old Peruvian guy riding around on a bike with a speaker blasting out Cumbia music. Then when I went into Vondelpark, he was sat in there blasting music out, with other Latin Americans dancing, smoking weed, etc. I ended up chilling with them for a while having a spliff. @Mpache Then as you walked further down there was some big Jamaican fella with his top off blasting out Reggae with a few of his pals Then as I was sat on a bench in Saphire park(I think it's called that), some random German came and sat next to me on the bench(when there were 5 others free), put his speaker down and started blasting German hip hop while eating a tub of magic truffles. There was a fella form Eindhoven who randomly came up to me with 50 euros in his hand telling me it had been a while(was it you @Gunnersauraus? ), asking me where the red-lights were. Then he pulled out a box of Viagra, telling me how he's "come prepared". It's what I like about Amsterdam. It's just full of strange(but in a brilliant way) people who can all go out there and be themselves, whatever they are. Amstelpark was also a change as I had never been there before, due to it being out of the way. I got the metro there and was surprised at the lack of tourists(in fact there weren't any I don't think?), it was all locals and you never smelt any weed at all(well until I turned up of course ), there is also a windmill there which was pretty class. Not to mention, I had a look around the lake and saw some fucking huge carp in the margins, which I could have caught easily with a stalking rod. It makes you wonder if you're allowed to fish it. But honestly, I'd take a 100 euro fine if you weren't and it meant catching one of those beauties! Speaking of fishing, I spoke to a local who was lure fishing and he said it's 4 quid for the year to fish all the canals and you get a little map showing you all the spots. I might have to indulge into some "urban fishing" out there. All you would need is a small rod and you could go lure fishing on the canals and then do a bit of stalking for the carp on the park lakes. I realise it's an island with a small population, and up to now I'm of the presumption their government has handled things well? Their cases are going up by between 20-50/day for the past week. Whereas here in the UK there's just been news of a factory in Northamptonshire where 300 people have tested positive. And that's just in one part of a county! Let alone a whole country. I think what I'm trying to say is I still feel safer in Malta than I do here and I still plan to go on holiday unless Malta obviously shut their borders. I can happily quarantine whilst still working from home!

Toinho
I love travelling, like, live for it. But, travelling during these times is just plain irresponsible.

Carnivore Chris
@Machado Portugal now on the ok to travel list. If I wasn't busy at the moment,I'd go to Lisbon or the Algarve for 4 days or so(such as tomorrow) while I could before it's back on the "unsafe list" again Honestly, if you time it right and don't go for too long, this is the best time to travel right now if you are wise @Toinho. Think about it. When else can you go to Amsterdam in the summer and it's not overcrowded? Or in the case of right now(since Netherlands is on the quarantine list now), going to South Portugal in summer and it not being overly packed? Definitely risky though but life's about risks sometimes. If it's still on the list in Oct then I will go, but I doubt it will be by then as everyone will go there now it's back on the ok list. Croatia are now on the unsafe list, but when my mate went the other week there was barely a case. So it changes quickly.
