I'd rather lose it to a hard working northern club than some plastic southern one.5 points

All done with the jab. Had the Pfizer vaccine at 11 this morning. Arm is aching a bit but that’s about it. I’ll report back with any side effects4 points

If anyone wants to know how I react to any @MUFC post, just look at the face on the left. It's a mixture of confusion and 'wtf'.2 points

I've been in and out of work since April, but will admit that recently it's been more because I've felt physically ran down and I haven't been in the right mind frame, although there are jobs about, so I need to get back to it I'd say. Before Christmas I completed a Spanish teaching course online, obtained a distinction for it and my plan was to continue working in construction while gaining experience volunteering as a Spanish teaching assistant for a few hours a week (either at the uni, or a local language school in town) and gradually improve my working life but obviously that will have to wait due to restrictions. So there are plans for the future atleast. You've done the right thing in staying at work mate. Work is a farce that we all moan about, but it gives you the normality you need and helps distract the mind. It also keeps you active. That's another thing mate, kids need normality at whatever age. Even at school, it's not just education, but the social aspect. Not socialising as a teenager and sitting in all the time can create social anxiety quite easily. It starts to feel "normal" to sit in all day.2 points

I think it would be good for us all mentally if we took turns punching Stan in the face... Can't vouch for you guys but I know I would feel better for it, I would have a really good incentive for getting out and about ( my daily exercise and all that ) and would have a really positive outlook on things for the rest of the week...2 points

As you say Cruz knows better, but this play shows his contempt for the trump voters he's trying to win. He thinks they're dumb enough to believe it, and he wanted a viral outrage response. I may be wrong but I'm not entirely sure people have taken the right lessons from the trump era. The GOP politicians seem to think the voters wanted the policies and rhetoric of Trump, but I think they may just have been all in on Trump because they liked his belief and confidence and tough guy personality. Trump voters were willing to hang Mike pence. They hated the establishment. They mostly got behind Trump doing a 180 on most conservative views/positions on things and followed him anyway. Was it because they want authoritarianism, and white supremacy or is it just because the GOP supporters are a cult of personality more than policy? I.e. Could Arnold Schwarzenegger run in the Republican primary in 2024 and pull that same Trump base towards support of more moderate conservative positions on issues? Does he have more appeal to the trump base than a lame, nerdy Harvard guy like Ted Cruz who's willing to try to talk like Trump and go all in on fascism in order to achieve his goal of becoming president?2 points

And if you'd focus more on the forum instead of making babies. You'd have as many reputation points as me!1 point

I agree. This is what Serie A clubs did. Sure, Serie A is not the powerhouse it was in the 90s, but the overall quality of the league has really improved a lot compared to where it was 10 years ago. And on a much more sustainable model, which is good. Covid is an issue, but in my opinion it has only accelerated a process that would happen anyway. The structural conditions for long-term financial domination were never there. Barcelona and Real Madrid can´t compete with Premier League clubs financially in the long run. La Liga is just way behind PL in worldwide viewership, sponsorship and TV contracts. Both clubs will need to operate more like Bayern, getting the most promissing players in their domestic football at an earlier age and developing them into world-class players, instead of attracting the very best players in the world and paying huge sums for them.1 point

I saw rumours Barcelona have asked for another massive bank loan to 'avoid bankruptcy'. Mad to think leagues with such big teams could be in such jeopardy. Maybe going back to the coaching of youth and scouting will profit in the long-term.1 point

Definitely. If they had cash, Haaland would be a target. Like Jovic was. There's something wrong with Real's finances and their different behavior in the transfer market is a reflect of this crisis. Also, some years ago, Hazard would already have been shipped off to another club. Instead, he will be getting every chance to prove himself there because Real can't really afford anymore players of his talent.1 point

Honestly this makes alot of sense. Haaland again is the perfect kind of player they would be targeting but I havent really heard or seen any rumblings. I thought the same of Havertz and they where seemingly never in on him.1 point

The La Liga era is over. Barcelona and Real Madrid will have to learn to operate in a different way. It always felt inevitable. Spain's economy isn't developed enough to support the best football teams in the world and La Liga was too slow to build a worldwide viewership in comparison to Premier League. Barça and Real Madrid will need better coaching and scouting to compete on a continental level, after all the money won't come up so easy.1 point

Pretty much my sentiments exactly. Don’t even feel like anyone has had the opportunity to meet my little man either. He’s 6 months in a couple of weeks and hardly met any strangers.1 point

I will be honest and say that the whole thing has felt like it's taken it's toll a bit on me.. Normally I have a fairly upbeat outlook in general even if things are going a bit tits but admit I have not been at my best at times at all and the whole thing has just got everyone down in general and I have been lucky to be able to keep on working throughout the whole thing as well which lot's of other people have been unable to do.. so bugger knows how I would be feeling with little to no money coming in and not many job opportunities knocking about either.. I don't think anyone can underestimate the toll it takes on your health, mental wellbeing and physical state...1 point

I've read about people having no main symptoms but still suffering long covid. It's a nasty virus in general and with it being new there are so many questions which can't be answered. Also lockdowns can only make people ill themselves as it's not normal. I doubt anybody is feeling 100% themselves. My lungs and chest feel dodgy but I haven't developed a cough nor a single cold or bug since this time last last year. Also I'm not wheezy, so it could even be muscular skeletal problems, which is common among construction workers eventually. I can go for nice walks again without feeling too bad, just little pains. Stomach isn't great either and I've had pains all over. The nausea has pretty much disappeared however(apart from in periods), as have the shivers, light headedness and cold sweats and there are no problems when it comes to eating. The appetite was awful for a week but since then I've been eating better than ever probably. The problem is, anxiety and stress causes all types of shit, so that doesn't help. It actually led to panic attacks at first(which I thought was a heart attack and ended up at the hospital ), although they have long past now. Mentally I'm alright now, well much better in this regard atleast. I don't have a clue but if I keep slowly doing more and more exercise as I have been doing lately(long walks, a few weights, hitting a punch bag, etc), mixed with a better diet, I'll probably slowly get fitter again. It could work in my favour in the end anyway as I've cut out added sugar, cannabis(which has been substituted with CBD and eliminates any cravings), fizzy drinks, cut out fast food and made changes to my diet. I've never been close to being obese but it can still cause alot of damage to your insides if you overdo it. The smoking needs to stop though definitely, but that's much harder to say than do, especially when you've recently stopped smoking cannabis. Being inactive for a few months when used to not stopping is never going to make you feel great either. By "staying in to save lives" you're potentially causing alot of damage to yourself. The problem is, how else do you tackle a pandemic? Whatever you do, you're on the losing side I suppose.1 point

My missus had her jab two days ago - like me she had lots of antib's in her blood and has had no after effects from the injection. I am now a week after and have had no feeling at all where it went in and no problems - both had the Pfizer and due back in early April. Don't think we were just lucky, just believe that it is no problem and all should accept it when it is available. Who knows, by May we might be able to go out for more than just a local walk!1 point

The real irony of this is 1. Cruz expressing concern for the voters of Pittsburgh, PA, when he voted to have the entire Pennsylvania vote count thrown out (and they voted heavily for Biden) 2. Pittsburgh maintained its commitments to the Paris agreement even when trump abandoned it, so they clearly have no issues with this action.1 point

First dose vaccines over 4.5m done so we're smashing it by all intent and purposes. Worth noting it's been led by local councils and NHS trusts as opposed to government like test and trace was. Maybe that's why we're nailing it... There's a lot of vaccination centres being installed around the whole of the UK so accessibility shouldn't and isn't a problem at the moment. Government have decided to get as many first doses out as possible before 2nd doses get done too. Hence the 4.5m first doses and only 500K second doses so far. I think they're spreading each dose by up to 10-12 weeks at the moment. Figures recently have been 300-350k vaccines per day which is incredible really. Think they're on target for 15m vaccines done by mid-Feb.1 point

Man City are favourites as it stands. Giving up on the league right now though is just fucking stupid1 point

Fuck me, how old are you lot? Havnt got a clue. We smashed Sevilla at theirs, where they simply don’t lose in Europe, we went 15 games or so unbeaten?? How many clean sheets? Timo was looking sharp and scoring, ziyech was hot... and now there’s a blip in the road it’s oh let’s change the manager again. Fans my arse, have some faith in the project ffs, the days where managers can come in and change things around and win have gone because we don’t have the experienced squads and players we once had. It’s a new era and it’s time you lot understood that and had some patience.1 point
