I am old enough not to get involved with Politics anymore. I have endured years and years of listening to self-opinioned liars who are interested in whatever improves their own position without caring a damn about the rest of us - the days of Nye Bevan and David Steele are long gone - I spent the first two nights of my square bashing at Padgate being told that the prat in No 10 - a guy named Eden - had just invaded Egypt and that we were 'going there on Friday'. Lately Johnson, Gove and Trump have exceeded all that the rest tried to do, but I am too old to let it bother me in the least - other than to try and help the younger ones get sorted if they need anything. Whatever those 'in charge' do, the world will somehow come through it all and the rest of us will - hopefully - survive and get over the present problems, but I fear for a lot of young guys I know who have yet to get their first job - and god knows from where that will come. I still try and stick to my wish to all - young and old - simply sei nett2 points

Has a lot to do with the manufacturer, including Oxford-AstraZenica, not providing enough vaccine at the agreed time. Has much more to do with empty promises towards European governments and the EU from pharmaceutical industry than with the NHS being so efficient.1 point

Finished 1979 Season a few days ago, and am now 5 races into 1980. 1979 was a pretty interesting season to watch, with Lotus falling apart completely after dominating in previous season, Ferrari winning both the Driver's (Scheckter) and Constructor's titles, and Williams making impressive progress in the second half of the season, managing to finish 2nd, despite taking only 10 points in the first 7 races. Lauda had a disappointing year with Brabham Alfa and retired at the end of the season, same with James Hunt and Jackie Ickx. Villeneuve was probably the most exciting driver to watch, his battle with Arnoux in the closing laps of French GP being the highlight of the season for me. 1980 started with Ferrari being unexpectedly poor, and trailing at the end of the grid, as they couldn't keep up with the development in ground effect aerodynamics - most of the rest of the field used a Cosworth V8 engine which had an advantage due to its layout, compared to Ferrari's flat 12 engine. Williams continued where they left off last season, with Ligier, Renault and Brabham starting the season strongly as well. Keke Rosberg got his first podium ever, and Alain Prost made his debut in F1 Worst event so far: Clay Regazzoni was involved in a horrible crash during the US GP when the brake pedal of his Ensign broke while he was going at 280 kmh, he hit a retired car parked next to the track, and then crashed into the barriers. Regazzoni suffered serious injuries and was paralysed from the waist down for the rest of his life Marc Surer also crashed heavily and broke his legs in qualifying at South Africa. To be continued...1 point

I don't like mayo, so most of my salads have a simple olive oil & vinegar or olive oil & lime juice dressing... Even potato salad I prefer in Swabian/Bavarian style - with beef broth, mustard, vinegar and oil1 point

Nice to sign promising young players, but really if we’re low on funds any funds we have right now should be going into getting someone better than Rhys Williams or Nat Phillips in. Even if it’s just for a 6 month loan.1 point

Sounds interesting. I sometimes use Apples in Salads though I haven't for ages. I do love a Waldorf Salad in Summer, with apple, celery, grapes, walnuts and a mayo dressing. I could literally eat a bowl of that and Potato Salad and that would hit the spot for me.1 point

Went off McGregor a while ago, the bus incident, the Islamophobia towards Khabib, besting up an old man. Even though the Khabib fight wasn’t his first loss, it was the beginning of the end really. Not just losing to the P4P goat, but losing to a man he disrespected so badly, not only to lose but for Khabib’s cage jump to dwarf any action he has ever done to sell a fight, that jump was iconic. Dana White was a bell for monetising McGregor’s islamophobia, but if Conor was struggling for fights before this one then he only has himself to blame. He tried to bring out kind Conor for this, redefine his image, it’s all a load of shit and simply done for the $$$. Interesting to see where he goes next, has a lot of work to do to get near a rematch with Khabib.1 point

It's a shame one of the things I'd like to do - erase it from my mind and unsee it - is not possible.1 point

Yeah they're just unbelievably tone deaf. I know they've gone for shock factor but they've probably pissed off a fuck load of people. Especially as it probably is still the minority that have gone overboard in breaking the rules? Not saying none of the public are to blame, but government have to cop some responsibility too, something which they shy away from doing at any given opportunity. Embarrassing, really.1 point

No picture, but I've recently discovered my new favourite salad - basically just grated Kohlrabi and (sour) apple, with some lime juice as a dressing. It's great for a very light meal, very refreshing. I usually have it after a workout, along with an open trout or salmon sandwich. Also, does anyone have a good pico de gallo recipe?1 point

I'd love to see more stuff set in this world but they've got to be careful on the fan service that blighted the final two seasons because if they go too far with it the first spin off will flop and that'll be it. Stick to the story telling, politics and character development that made it great in the first place.1 point

Bruce appears to be behaving like the world's youngest 60 year old at the moment. Saw some interview he did where he was just banging on about Benitez non stop with sarcastic "the mighty Rafa" comments. If he spent more time working on his management abilities and less time trying to make the likes of Richard Keys guffaw, Newcastle might be in a better situation. Benitez says he left the job in China due to Covid issues. I guess we'll see what his next move is.1 point

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017) Watched this last night. How have I not seen this before? I loved Martin McDonagh's previous films, I absolutely adore Sam Rockwell and most of the other actors in the cast. Anyway, I was blown away by this film. Such a great story, with the right mixture of darkness and humour. Sam Rockwell's character has an absolutely amazing arc, even though you wouldn't think that at the beginning of the film. So many iconic scenes and lines. There's also no better actress out there who can play a tough yet vulnerable woman like Frances McDormand. Absolute masterpiece. 9.5/101 point

Watched the 1979 French GP a few days ago... Villeneuve vs Arnoux battle for 2nd in the last few laps of the race is easily one of the best F1 battles I've ever seen. Fantastic stuff...1 point
