Sounds like the most ideal candidate has won.

Yup. Bid for us in the past and had done his due diligence already. His proposal is likely the most reasonable of the lot I'd imagine too.

What stands Boehly out is his vision in building a team. Believes in efficient scouting and adores versatility in players, something that Tuchel wants in his players which hopefully indicates a long term vision with Tuchel in it. As much as we have enjoyed Roman's spending we have been crying out for self sustainability for years. Batshuayi, Kepa, Lukaku, Zappacosta, Drinkwater and Bakayoko cost the club a  whopping £306m which has set us back from competing for the league. Without an owner who can whip out his chequebook and write it off, hopefully we focus more effective scouting and long term goals with the academy at the helm.

Good to see Boehly coming out on top as he has consistently stated his desire.

Yes hope our scouting improves as it feels after a long season with injuries and possibly veteran players age catching up that we are struggling. Beginning to remind me of Conte's second season.

Though he won his FA Cup final yet finished 5th in the league.

The Times can reveal that Todd Boehly’s consortium has now been granted a 5 day exclusivity period to fulfil contractual agreements.

Jim Ratcliffe has been dismissed by Chelsea and Raine, a source said. ( @Lawton_Times )

Reports that Abramovich now wants his loan repaid and the media is getting excited about what that means for the deal and for Chelsea even existing as a club.

Yea.. this whole situation is as frustrating as fuck..

But what happens to the loan remains to be seen - with ministers digging in on their position that no money ends up back in Abramovich's pocket. That raises the prospect of a doomsday scenario for the club, whose operating licence runs out on May 31. If Chelsea has not been sold by then, it would automatically be barred from competing in next season's Premier League. What possible future there is for the Stamford Bridge outfit if that happens remains to be seen.

But the whole sorry process is already harming the club, whose major revenue streams remain frozen as a result of sanctions. Chelsea were powerless to stop Antonio Rudiger quitting the club as soon as they were told they could not offer new contracts to players.

And the futures of Mason Mount and Reece James are also now in doubt as both are due new deals but talks cannot get underway. Tuchel insists the growing uncertainty is not affecting his side, but they lost 1-0 at Everton on Sunday and have only managed one win in their last four games.

The longer it goes on the more difficult it becomes - not least for the hundreds of Chelsea employees currently fearing for their livelihoods.

I think RA wanting £1.6bn as a repayment of a loan is a non-story.

All the bidders knew at the outstart they had to clear Chelsea's loans as part of the purchase and any excess was going to Ukraine.

Somewhere in the process of Raine getting involved a headline run RA would write it all off yet no real substance behind it. Perhaps media was up to mischief to create a story perhaps based on a mis-translation.

Or are we really saying these bidders know they would pay  £2.5bn to a Ukraine fund as part of buying CFC?

Can Everton, Leeds, and Burnley be saved from relegation if Chelsea's barred from competing next season?

What happens to Chelsea if that happens? Cease to exist? Bottom of the football pyramid?

Surely only one team avoids relegation if Chelsea are banned (is this even likely?).

Don't get why all 3 would be saved.

If 3 teams come up like normal, would 3 teams go down if another side's barred from competing? I imagine it would make everyone above 19th place safe. It would also be nice for both North London sides CL hopes xD

Nah just mean two go down and two come up

If it gets to that point, it'd probably be 3 up and 2 down with whoever finished 18th not getting relegated.  Guess it'd have to be repeated all the way down the pyramid as well.

Won't happen though. There's no way Chelsea stop existing in a month's time. They'll extend the deadline until there's a new owner or until the Russia/Ukraine war ends with some sort of deal in place.

Boehly-Clearlake takeover of Chelsea is now very close to completion. Raine sources tell me Wednesday talks were “highly productive and no alternative options are being explored.”Sources within Boehly-Clearlake say they’ve remained “calm” and are confident they will own #CFC.

The reports Roman wanted the debt repaid were false.

Quote

Firstly, Mr Abramovich’s intentions in relation to gifting the proceeds from the Chelsea sale to charity have not changed.

Since the initial announcement, Mr Abramovich’s team has identified senior representatives from UN bodies and large global charitable organizations who have been tasked with forming a Foundation and setting out a plan for its activities. The lead independent expert has had conversations with Government representatives presenting the structure and initial plans.

Mr Abramovich has not been involved in this work and it has been managed independently by experts with years of experience working in humanitarian organizations.

Secondly, Mr Abramovich has not asked for any loan to be repaid to him – such suggestions are entirely false – as are suggestions that Mr Abramovich increased the price of the Club last minute. As part of Mr Abramovich’s objective to find a good custodian for Chelsea FC, he has however encouraged each bidder throughout this process to commit investing in the Club – including in the Academy, Women’s team, necessary redevelopment of the stadium as well as maintaining the work of Chelsea Foundation.

Following sanctions and other restrictions imposed on Mr Abramovich by the UK since announcing that the Club would be sold, the loan has also become subject to EU sanctions, requiring additional approvals. That means that the funds will be frozen and subject to a legal procedure governed by authorities. These funds are still earmarked for the Foundation. The Government are aware of these restrictions as well as the legal implications.

To be clear, Mr Abramovich has no access or control of these funds and will not have any access or control of these funds following the sale. Despite the changing circumstances since his initial announcement – he remains committed to finding a good custodian for Chelsea FC and making sure the proceeds go to good causes.

Ineos wanted Chelsea to have the same stature as Bayern, Real Madrid, Man Utd etc. Only one club in London that has the possibility of that and it’s Arsenal, regardless of how many titles Chelsea have bought for them
