Sergio Aguero Joins Barcelona

As far as transfer strategies go, getting rid of Luis Suarez because of his age and then getting a player the same age as Suarez at the time of selling him is just so silly. I get they can’t actually buy players because they’re so needing a financial miracle, but their business this summer is not that of a club seeking to challenge for major sporting honours.

They are a complete mess, whilst all the players they are signing for free have had brilliant careers it's being done with little thought of how they are going to fit into the team.

United were doing similar a few years back and we ended up with a horrifically disjointed squad.

Barca as we know it are actually looking a thing of the past.

He's paid a lot less than Suarez tbh

This is actually a very talented young team and it was already starting to shape up last season, going from 12 points behind Atlético to 2 points, before fucking it up. Had it not been for the defence making silly errors when the team were on top and looking comfortable(which lead to losing momentum), then it would have been a strong end to the season and a domestic double. Araújo is a beast but the other centre backs are terrible, although if that defence is sorted, then it's already a much better young team of players than people think.

This team scored more goals last season than anyone in la Liga, and even the Premier League, and in terms of possession, one of the highest in Europe. However, the defence was as poor as a bottom half team and that's the main problem.

De Jong(23), Araújo (21), Dest(20), Pedri(18), Fati(18), Illaix(18), Puig(22), etc, and 2 recent signings in Emerson(22), who has been brilliant at Betis and Eric Garcia(20), who didn't work at City but will be much more comfortable at home. De Jong is brilliant as well, he's got a bit of everything and Ter Stegen at 28/29 isn't old for a keeper.

Messi still has plenty left in the tank(how many other players last season were up there when it comes to scoring, creating and dribbling? 33 or not) and Alba and Busquets have another season or 2 in them. I in fact don't understand the criticism Busquets receives from the media and some Barcelona fans as he showed in the last few months that if he's surrounded by younger players, he can still offer plenty. Piqué Is the main one of the old guard who needs shipping out and Sergi Roberto is crap, as is Umtiti who hasn't been the same since his array of serious injuries. I'm not a fan of Lenglet either. A new defender should certainly be priority.

Dest also played better at left back than right back last season, so himself and Emerson(at right back) can be compatible.

Fati coming back from injury is important as before that he was fantastic last season. Only 18 but already a beast. Himself(before injury) and Pedri were a breath of fresh air last season and the best performers after Messi and De Jong.

Koeman needs to play Puig more though as the stubborn cunt underlooked him last season due to "leaking information" to the media earlier in the season, but he impresses whenever he plays, offers energy and Pedri was burned out towards the end of last season due to overplaying for such a young player.

This is also without mentioning other talents coming through La Masía, who haven't been given a chance yet but have alot of potential. There is a big future there and bringing players through or buying youngsters like Pedri and Dest is the way the club have needed to go even before the financial issues.

Agüero should also offer squad depth and is much better than Braithwaithe. How old was Larsson when he signed in 2005? Or Silvinho? Or Thuram? A bit of experience to add depth can work out well.

There is no reason why this team, with improvements to the defence and a bit of depth, can't be competing again. Koeman doesn't give you confidence though in truth. He's not very good tactically, needs to fuck the 5-3-2 formation off in favour of 4-3-3 but he's done well bringing young players into the side and rejuvenating a team, that's one thing he's done right.

Jesus that's a good post.

Can't get fairer than what you say in truth, will keep an eye on how it all works out next season.

Still think the scatter gun free signings approach isnt the best but maybe you are right, the experience others can bring could be vital.

Yeah, I'm not sure how Agüero will work out, especially being so injury prone. I've never been a fan of Depay(but I'm going more off his United days and @El Profesorwatches him more in France) but I reckon the Garcia and Emerson signings are positive(especially Emerson, who has been class at Betis for 2 seasons, so is proven in the league and is still only 22), Wijnaldum could be as well to offer depth.

Koeman could be a big stumbling block though, as he's not a great manager.

Also Fati needs to come back. That lad is top notch for his age. The injury kept him out around 6-7 months and that's a worry in whether it will dampen his progression. But the way he was playing before that was like a player older than he was. Also Araújo was suffering constant niggling injuries, but when he plays he's a solid defender. De Jong(23), Fati(18), Pedri(18) and Araújo(21) are a breath of fresh air and keeping those 4 fit will be vital next season.

What a turn of events. Only joined Barca to play with Messi.

To be fair, if I was him I'd be livid if the club promised that and then didn't deliver.

I can't think of anyone who's had a better start at their new club

Signed for Barca
Not registered
Wants to play with his best mate, but his best mate is forced to leave
Then wants to leave himself after that promise was broken
Injured for 2 and a half months
