Proper gutted for Villa fans. No one should want to see this.

It's good business though for both teams, also surely nips in the bud any talk of Kane leaving Spuds.

Big move for Grealish, gets a chance to test himself playing for the best team in the country under one of the best managers in the world.

I don't think there will be many Villa fans booing him, just a loud minority. He singlehandedly got them promoted, helped keep them up and gave them a very good campaign last season. The fans owe him a lot.

I am looking forward to seeing Grealish play in Pep's system.

The good thing for Villa fans is that Dean Smith doesn't really have bad transfer windows, so that money will be reinvested nicely.

Why do you think City will drop their interest in Kane now?

Grealish as an overall package (fee, wages, etc) is going to be a massive outlay. To bring in Kane, they'd be have to trim a lot of high earners and that squad isn't particularly large as it is.

Why would they?

They have the richest owner on the planet and FFP is no longer something they need to worry about. They also haven't been damaged by Covid in the same way other sporting clubs have.

Personally think this is their statement year, they had to go all out to replace Silva and Aguero and it wasn't likely to come as cheap as those two deals did at the time.

Because they, like Chelsea do have a plan to be self sustaining. Which is sensible.

They aren't backing out of a potential Kane deal, no way would Harry Kane upset the Spurs fans without a prompt from City they will be going in for him.

Let's just wait and see.

Do they?

Of course they do.

They sell players (those that have never made an appearance for City) who play for clubs owned by City Football Group, but Man City are the beneficiaries of the sale profits.

Totally legitimate. In no way does this also probably tie with their 2012/2013 FFP allegations.

Was defeating FFP part of that plan to be self-sustaining.

Abu Dhabi’s City group are just interested in sport washing, imo.

I really ought to dig for it, but if I remember correctly it was about the operations side of the club so it could continue to rejuvenate the community and provide opportunities for kids. A lot of programmes like that tend to be funded out of other kitties. So they don't want to squash the club with huge financial commitments that impact other areas. The thing about wealthy people is they like wealth 😄

Tbh I can’t help but think they’re doing something nefarious.

Much like I’m convinced your mob boss owner is a money launderer xD

Don't get how any Villa fan can be mad at Grealish. Carried them for the best part of 4 or 5 seasons to where they are now and now he wants to better his career and win trophies. He's been loyal to them. Any Villa fan who is mad is just salty, sour-grapes when things don't go their way. They'll get over it eventually.

Yes, certainly pointless being overly salty.

I guess to many of them, the job is incomplete. To them they just can't comprehend playing FIFA with any side other than Villa. Let alone signing up to play for them. In their shirt. To celebrate with their fans. It doesn't even take older ones especially to remember the days of being comfortable W's vs City, Chelsea & Spurs.

At the same time though, I can't see any Villa fans producing banners to celebrate their history of signing up former Norwich players. And I have seen Twitter content of City followers harping on about having signed Barry, Milner & Delph from Villa in the past.

I can understand being salty, tbf.

But at this price, it really is best for all parties for the move to go ahead. Yes, Villa lose their fan favourite, local boyhood fan turned superstar... but they get an opportunity to have some serious funding that can go towards pushing Villa back up to closer to where the fans want them to be again.

Grealish is incredible talented and he's now getting to work with probably the most influential football manager of our time (at least so far), with a world class squad, that's expected to compete for top honours.

I don't want to see it happen because my club is trying to compete with Man City, but I think it's incredibly difficult to compete against a squad like that that's getting an additional incredible player in Grealish. But honestly, anyone City were going to sign was likely going to be a very very good player. So now I just hope they don't also add Kane to their ranks.
