  1. Anybody who thought our Government would be prepared to handle any crisis is just deluding themselves.... The NHS along with a great many other vital services have been badly underfunded and badly run for a long time and putting down things like single gloves just to falsify and bring the numbers up shows how far some are prepared to go for the sake of damage limitation... Sadly when all this finally blows over and we have yet another lengthy inquest into what went wrong we will be told that despite knowing well in advance about the requirements for such a situation that they have basically been left to chance... No fucker will be held accountable and "lessons will need to be learned" once more... So many failures and so many lives put at risk it's hard to fathom if these people are even capable of getting the simple things right let alone being allowed to run an entire country... But then I suppose you don't have to be too worried when you can get the very best priority care as a Prime Minister or special treatment for your daughter like Gove did ahead of the more urgent frontline staff...

  2. Its also annoying when you go on group trips and someone sees a nice camera in your hand and say shit like "Oh this will look so nice on my Facebook profile". Yes, that's exactly why I brought my camera on this trip ...

  3. Cops in America are very quick to open fire when they aren’t even in direct threat. I think it’s commendable that Indian police show restraint in the face of dealing with absolute scum.

  4. Not indiscriminate firing, just using bullets for self defence ONLY against scum who are trying to kill them. I am tired of seeing cops with broken heads, bleeding profusely. People throwing massive blouders on them. Arseholes actually trying to kill them. And it's not one or two cases. Forget China and Iran, even in first world countries like USA and Aus, cops would shoot down people trying to kill them.

  5. It's shameful. Counting individual gloves instead of pairs too.

  7. I wish our cops could shoot people who attacked them and the doctors. In any other country the authorities would be allowed to do that. All the gains made from the lockdown are being flushed down the drain. All I see are crowded markets with people celebrating their festival, and then attacking cops who try to stop them.

  9. Didn't know where else to put it, but this is quite an interesting little guide on how to read and analyse DNA on a computer using Python. https://biospace.xyz/posts/reading-dna-on-computers/ On a similar topic, I recently discovered Rosalind, a platform to learn bioinformatics, algorithms and programming through problem solving. Quite fun. http://rosalind.info/

  10. I read this post while in bed and then fell asleep again and forgot all about it... Cheers for the heads up. Total War has a bit too much war for my liking, but I think that's right up @Bluewolf's alley!

  14. Probably @The Artful Dodger Really friendly guy towards others, always positive vibes, never criticised or moaned. Didn't have a bad word to say about anyone. A real people's person. Definitely the kind of person you'd choose to spend your personal time with and have a beer. Would be such a fun night. No negativity whatsoever.

  15. For those interested, Alien Isolation is available on Steam for £1.50. I admittedly never got round to finishing this but at that price, it's a no brainer. Apparently can have a VR mode if you fancy a heart attack at some point. https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2020-04-27-the-brilliant-alien-isolation-is-just-gbp1-50-for-alien-day Also, I think @Danny and possibly @nudge were most interested, but Sega are giving Total War: Shogun 2 away for free. https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2020-04-26-sega-wants-to-give-you-total-war-shogun-2-for-free-as-a-thankyou-for-staying-at-home Have a look if interested. Also forgot to mention that I think Pac-Man: Championship Edition 2 is available for free across all platforms.

  16. Well unfortunately had a family member die with the coronavirus - my great Auntie. Obviously a distant relative but doesn't change the fact it still hurts given everything she's been through with her health. Irritates the hell out of me seeing all the idiots walking about as if the restrictions mean nothing.

  17. What do we make of the Panorama investigation then, about government not stockpiling properly and millions of missing protective equipment items? 33m respirator masks on original 2009 list but only 12m handed out since then. Government is refusing to comment on the missing millions of masks... Also, on March 13th the government looked to remove COVID-19 from the list of HCIDs despite it only being made one in January... (this really doesn't sit right with me considering by March the outbreak was fully global). Experts that put it on the list in January were not consulted with when discussion took place to remove it. Instead the government asked another committee (Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens) under 'any other business' part of the agenda. You'd think it would be quite high, not just dashed under AOB?! The spokesperson for the committee said part of the reason why it was removed was because 'HCID classification is used for serious infections where there are limited number of cases requiring specialist input and facilities'. What was COVID-19 then? Limited number of cases despite the numbers China and Italy were seeing at that time?? Government also ignored a warning from own advisors to buy missing equipment
