  1. Are we having a sun set picture contest or what? Difference is with mine and yours is that I had to walk up a fucking mountain to take mine . Impressive how the Romans built a path leading right up to a fortress at the top though. Steep as fuck, but so brilliantly constructed.

  2. So far I know the most French but that is mostly due to exposure, it is a very prevalent language. I can’t get a hold of Spanish even though I do know a large vocab due to having Mexican friends. I think it is because the Australian English language and accent is non-rhotic so I have a lot of trouble with the letter R. For instance ‘car’ becomes ‘kaaa’ not ‘kar’. There was this one time working as a barista, I said this name ‘Kaa lowse’ and the guy looking at me confused and then realised I had an accent that is why I said ‘Carlos’ weird

  4. Weren't Chelsea a shambles defensively with him at the helm? Isn't being decent defensively a big part in avoiding surviving relegation? Seems like a match made in hell, I'm going to get some popcorn ready.

  6. Nadal going for a 21st slam this weekend which would put him clear of Djokovic and Federer. That vaccine not looking so bad now is it Novak? That aside, Nadal won his first Grand Slam title aged 19. Now at 35, he's going for number 21. Almost half a lifetime of winning these titles. Yes, he has leaned heavily on the French to put those numbers up but even if you take away all of those titles, he'd still almost be in the top ten of all time. Just taking a moment out of the Djokovic anti-vaxx drama to express some appreciation for another all-time great sportsman who also manages not to be a massive entitled anti-science weirdo at the same time.

  7. Football doesn't really work like that - a player on a team is just one individual part of a collection of players that make up the whole of the team. There can be good players on bad teams and bad players on good teams (although there'll be less bad players on good teams generally, as good players usually make up good sides). Henry (and Bergkamp) were shit in Italy and brilliant at Arsenal. And for what it's worth, Juve are only 1 point off CL places in 5th place. Arsenal are 2 points off 4th place in 6th place. You never really know how a player will do after a move until after they've moved and started to play. I wouldn't write off a player just because they're coming from a side that's not a top side in that league (and Juve's period of being substandard is substantially shorter than your own period of being substandard). Dunno, we're not too far removed from him looking brilliant at Atalanta. But the man who was excited about Willian reinforcing his attack thinks that But either way, the BBC make it sound like he's on his way to Spurs and not Arsenal.

  10. His lack of apology rubbed me the wrong way as well, so I can imagine it was worse for you considering you're the one he got nasty with. When he said he came back a new man he wasn't wrong. He was even more quick to anger than before I disagreed with him shitloads of times and I think sometimes we got a bit personal with each other (I remember one time he was livid with me that I'd used the word "moron" several times in a political discussion) - but nothing ever was quite the level of anger and personal shittiness as what he was doing with you. Honestly, right before his banning... him bringing you up in threads and seeming obsessed... it was borderline harassment. Dunno if it was gonna get quite as bad as Teso when Brian came back, but it definitely reminded me of it. It wouldn't surprise me if he's not doing well in some regard right now and him lashing out on here was a reflection of that. Not that it makes it okay to do that to another person on the internet, because it doesn't and what he was doing to you was not okay in the slightest. But we've seen it before where while I think this is maybe my favourite place on the internet and I love chatting with all of you, some people in the wrong mindset really tap into something a bit fucking weird when they're on here. I feel like in the last year, you've gotten loads of abuse for no reason whatsoever . Some of it was racist as fuck too, but that wasn't TAD (at least I don't think so). It's probably because you've got all the fucking rep points on the forum

  12. Lampard loved Barkley so I reckon a loan move happens before deadline. For the sake of his career he needs to accept a wage cut.

  15. Well well well. I have a new found respect for Wayne Rooney, which is really annoying given he's done his best to be pretty dislikeable in the past. For him to turn down the chance to go back and manage his boyhood club in the Premier League and see the job through at Derby given the position they are in, with his hands tied behind his back, well that deserves the utmost respect for me. Could easily have jumped ship, and I'm sure he thought about it, but you can tell he's got the bit between his teeth with this whole Derby thing and wants to finish the job. Kudos to him.

  19. ‘Humiliation’ hardly mate. It’s Liverpool and Barcelona. Traore we were never fully convinced by hence setting up a deal and waiting and see what else is out there before coming back to it late. When Barca came in he’s always going to go there. Its also Mendes - just uses our name when it suits. Diaz was always just flushing Liverpool out here, you’ve been linked far longer than we have. Just forcing your hand. Im reserving judgement until the window closes like anyone should. At that point I may be angry but for now just wait and see.

  20. UTAH It's illegal to 'cause a catastrophe' In Utah, it's illegal to "cause a catastrophe." State law defines a catastrophe as widespread injury or damage caused by weapons of mass destruction, explosion, fire, flood, avalanche, or building collapse.

  21. Well nobody is making our defence good so I think it's a moot point to be honest. Instead of going "this very young manager had a few drawbacks under the public microscope of managing one of the biggest clubs in modern football so he's automatically shit forever", I'm going to wait and see. There's enough to get behind with Lampard and we're not going to get much better than a manager with mixed reviews the mess we're in.

  22. This is how it used to load up... line by line until the game screen was full then it would play the game... Codemasters used to knock these out at about £1.99 per cassette... they went from tapes to floppies when the Amiga & Atari ST were knocking about...

  24. Got a new cooking project. I'm going to make Döner Kebab from scratch. Already bought minced beef and veal. Just need a few more spices (I need to find Pul Biber). It all gets mixed together and goes into the freezer over the night, so that you have a proper roll, like in the Kebab shops: Just in small. Then you slice the still half frozen meat off and fry it in a pan.

  27. I doubt Hilary ever runs again. She's politically damaged goods - pretty unpopular amongst democrats (partially because of the way the DNC fucked over Bernie Sanders & partially just not campaigning in areas she probably should have campaigned before losing to Trump & I think even more democrats just don't like her simply for losing to Trump) and she's absolutely hated amongst republicans. If she goes again, I think it's nailed on that a republican (whoever it is) ends up the next president.

  28. I think corruption is pretty understated in the west - and I'm sure there's at least some truth to Biden/his family being corrupt. Having said that, I think this piece does a fantastic job of ignoring the widespread corruption in the US under the last guy who was in charge for 4 years - because the corruption there was staggering and brazen. US taxpayer money was funneled into the Trump organization for 4 years, family members who were unable to pass security clearances were given jobs negotiating with famously corrupt countries on behalf of the United States. It seems weird to just go after one US president, particularly one not anywhere near as corrupt as the last one, for corruption in the US. But I think a bigger issue with corruption in the United States is the unfettered amount of lobbyist money that "influences" (which really should say "bribes") lawmakers - it is why both parties in America, aside from the societal distraction issues - are pretty firmly in the pocket of corporate interests. It's why billionaires keep getting massive taxbreaks while the working poor and middle class are asked to fund the US government.
