No Al pacing >:(.  Only 4 (Hanks,  Dicaprio,  Washington and McQueen)   from my top ten have showed up in the list.

Also @Pyfish how high did Giamatti  and Carrey were on the list?

I had Al Pacino, but in 10th spot :)

Surprised there's no Anthony Hopkins, expected him to make the top 10 for sure... Also glad Steve McQueen got 3 people voting for him...

Anyway, this was my top 10:

  1. Robert de Niro
  2. Steve McQueen
  3. Clint Eastwood
  4. Christoph Waltz
  5. Anthony Hopkins
  6. Joaquin Phoenix
  7. Christopher Walken
  8. Tom Hardy
  9. Joe Pesci
  10. Al Pacino

I genuinely didn't think other people would go for Joaquin!

Mine:

  1. Bruce Willis - because I've met him
  2. Samuel L Jackson
  3. Robert Downey Jr
  4. Morgan Freeman
  5. Leonardo Di Caprio
  6. Clint Eastwood
  7. Joaquin Phoenix
  8. Michael Caine
  9. Jon Malkovich
  10. Denzel Washington

I think Joaquin Phoenix is great... Enjoyed his performances in every movie I've seen so far, but truly fell in love after watching Walk the Line. Didn't believe anyone could play Johnny Cash THAT well.

Most of your list would make it in my top 20 or even a revised top 10... Great shout on Jon Malkovich!

Yep, Walk The Line did it for me.

I thought it would be straightforward but there were so many I had to leave out. Must have gone through it about 3 or 4 times knocking people off the list then bringing them back! Tom Hardy, Harrison Ford, Al Pacino, Tom Hanks, Hopkins, even Robin Williams.

Malkovich is just a different kind - I couldn't even name anyone like him. Very unique.

I went with Johnny Depp

Why the ninja smiley, hehe? I like him too and I think he had some great performances in some very good movies, especially in the 90s... Dead Man is probably my favourite of his, followed by Donnie Brasco. Then there's What's Eating Gilbert Grape. Cry Baby. Ed Wood. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. From Hell. I'm sure I'm missing quite a few others too...

Since he’s not in the ten, would’ve thought an unpopular choice.
@Pyfish Did he get any other votes?

Blasphemy

I genuinely forgot about him but he was a solid shout. I overlooked him sadly.

Agree with some of the films @nudgementioned as well as Secret Window (he plays that character so well), Sweeney Todd, Blow and Public Enemies.

And I enjoyed Edward Scissorhands and Sleepy Hollow too to be fair.

Then again I also forgot John Candy and I absolutely loved everything he seemed to be in as well.

It was a very difficult list to make! Since I’ve submitted it I’ve thought of loads of other actors I like/think are good too.

Will do actresses soon (well, I can dream).

I think actors famous for genre's like comedy often get easily overlooked.

I don't disagree with you either. Two good examples of Jim Carrey's better work.

But as soon as I hear the name Jim Carrey, I'm thinking Ace Ventura, Dumb and Dumber, Liar Liar, Bruce Almighty etc and I think many probably do the same.

Yep.  Same for Robin Williams. Great actor,   but mostly known for comedy.

@topic

xD classic. Raoul Duke and @Dr. Gonzo

He can play all types of roles. Don't forget Blow either. I'd say that was my favourite film of his and while I wouldn't say all his films are necessarily my favourites, his performances in them are always class. He's also excellent in Pirates of the Caribbean and Edward Scissorhands.

1. Johnny Depp

2. Denzel Washington

3. Chris Tucker

4. Joe Pesci

5. Al Pacino

6. Chris Rock

7. Robert De Niro

8. Martin Lawrence

9. Anthony Hopkins

10. Clint Eastwood

Eastwood the Director> Eastwood the actor.

Besides I already had my quota for cool guys filled with McQueen and Gosling 😁.  I still think Blondie was cool,  though. (Haven't watched Dirty Harry movies yet).

Tim Curry had to Google his name though, recognise his old photos but not that one, don't think anybody voted for him  :whistling:
