The latter started off after probably one of the biggest event of this century so far but this is being perpetuated out of straight lies over nothing It's funny because on insta and other platforms my feed was immediately spammed with memes about it (because it combines my traditional 2 big brainrot favorites, pet videos, and edgy humor) but looking in comments you see soooooo many people talking about how it's a real thing and how trump must win. The cultural impact of him telling a bare faced (but funny) lie based on some bullshit he saw on CNN is outrageous.

Gunnersaurus
I've read from trump supporters that they eat dogs and cats in Haiti which may well be true. But we eat rabbits in the UK doesn't mean you'll steal your neighbours rabbit and put it in a stew. Harry
Did anyone see the scandal about the NC governor candidate? Surely one of the most humiliating scandals out there. And one of the feature speakers at the GOP convention. His porn forum account was mined for posts, where he'd says some shit that is not going to go down well in the deep south. Gunnersaurus
@Dr. Gonzo @Spike I think you guys still live in the usa. I get the impression sometimes that trump could say harris is an alien and some of his supporters would believe it. I'm not saying they all would but I think some would. It does seem like some of them are in a cult and they don't seem to realise. I know a lot of psychologists have said trump is like a cult leader

I'd be fairly certain most Harris supporters wouldn't believe trump was an alien if she said it. A lot of leaders don't have that blind support that trump does. You get it with reform uk. Not quite to the trump extent but its definitely there. But a lot of supporters of the other parties don't agree with everything they do. The exception was maybe when Boris was in charge. There were some supporters who would believe everything he said. And probably the same with corbyn to be fair

So in the USA beginning in the 1970s the republican party and the democratic party went through a bit of a change up, the specifics are very dense and incredibly convoluted but essentially it ended with the Nixon administration courting the 'Southern Strategy' and the Reagan campaign fully implementing it. The Southern Strategy headed my Lee Atwater under Reagan essentially switched focus from urban areas with diverse population groups, because 'blacks won't vote republican' to focusing on white dense areas of the 'confederate states' and honing in their racism and bigotry, by courting these people using 'dog whistles' they were able to build a strong voting base that dominated rural areas and took advantage of the electoral college. In tandem with this, the Reagan administration also courted religious evangelical Christians, also mainly whites, appealing to their conviction of beliefs and fanaticism, by associating the party with their religious beliefs they created a bulwark voting base that preyed on racism and religious zealotry. They've been doing this for nearly fifty years and Trump is just the next in line who has been able to take advantage of this voting base, he didn't 'create' a cult, he merely shifted the focus onto him and was able to be a vehicle for whatever beliefs they already had, because in reality he doesn't really fulfill those beliefs, his followers just project them onto him. At least that is what I'm able to parse as a reality in the USA, he is just plucking fruit from a tree that was planted long before.

I know a lot of psychologists have said trump is like a cult leader Imo the religious right (not just in the US, tbh, in most countries where the religious right is a big political bloc) are conditioned to basically be cult members. Conditioning people to put aside critical thinking and objective fact guiding their political beliefs and instead telling them their beliefs must be guided by their faith. Also what @Spike said. Trump didn't start the cult, he's just hijacked it.
