we dont have a squad to match city.

Does anyone really need to explain why man city have a deeper squad?

I'll give you a clue, City have spent 650M net over the last 7 seasons, we have spent around 150M net over the same period of time.

I'm not suggesting that we have a bigger more expensive squad of players than City. Im just asking how you can say we lack quality in our squad. :what:

No it’s isn’t. I have wanted the club to invest on players for the last three seasons. You can go back to after the champions league win, the 2nd place finish, and you will see me consistently saying we need to add serious quality to the squad.

I didn’t want, or expect everything to be done in one window. Which is why I’ve been very tongue in cheek talking about this “big summer” ahead. I obviously wasn’t clear enough with my humour, because I don’t expect this massive overhaul to happen.

Quite tiring seeing you constantly want money thrown at everything whenever something goes wrong.

You should have enjoyed the title win more instead moaning about how that was won too. I'll leave it there. Goodnight

"Tough spell for Liverpool. There'll be all kinds of know-it-alls with their theories, but football is played by human beings, and human beings have their ups and downs. They'll be back".

A bit of perspective from Gary Lineker of all people.:coffee:

the problem is the amount of injuries we have had means we are scraping the the bottom for players. i saw someone say we should have known this would happen because we have 2 CB that are injury prone that is not true. we have 1 CB thats injury prone ( matip ) and this injury is nothing to do with his injury record. this injury was a bad one from a challange not a silly injury. gomez has had some bad injuries but not many small knoacks to keep him out like someone like naby. vvd got snapped in a bad challange as well. if we lost vvd for 4-5 games then he came back then gomez for 4-5 games then he came back we would have been fine.

Obviously its a combination, not just the amount of injuries but the length of them and the fact that they were key players not squad players or bench warmers.

It's constantly minimalised, not just by those trying to score points on the internet but by loons like Mourinho.

It's true none the less and unless we have the silly money to spend it will always be that way. Clubs can strengthen a squad, not many can just lash money around hand over fist.

“Whenever something goes wrong” yes, because that’s exactly what I’ve done a isn’t it. I look at the big picture, I look at this squad, I look at the teams around us. All of them constantly strengthening their positions, title win or not. None of them sitting still. The arrogance of some Liverpool fans to think this team can just go on forever and the squad doesn’t need touched. Ridiculous thinking. Did Utd sit still after every title win? Did they fuck, they looked at what they needed to go again and they went again.

Don’t tell me how much I enjoyed the title win either. I enjoyed it more than you know. I’m a realist though, and I feared that something like this would happen eventually. Not necessarily all our defenders being injured all at once, but definitely the fear that major players would get injured and we would be stretched covering for them with the lack of quality depth this squad has.

You and some others don’t actually answer to much that me and a couple of others say. Instead, it’s disregarded because it’s a lot easier to make us out to be spoilt. Load of shit mate, and if people actually read what we wrote then maybe we could have some sort of discussion here.

City has had no history since 1880 and still holds the attendance record outside of Wembley

Not even close, European Cup, Prem titles, old first division, charity shields and it's not like we can cheat with FIFA rules in place is it, court hearings have proven we havent broken any rules, Liverpool have spent more than us recently

mate we signed jota who was the most inform attacker in the lge before he got injured and we also signed the best MF player in his position in the world after winning the title. things are bad for us this season but no need to panic. last season people were saying if city never lost leporte they would have won the title. one player ffs. we have played this season with no defenders lost the MF and played over 90% of games with at least 6 first team players missing.

Over the space of three transfer windows we only brought in Sepp VanDeBerg & Minamino. One an academy prospect and the other cost 7m. This was post Champions League win & way before Covid hit.

He has to add the caveat of Wembley now cause we beat their record so it isn’t really a record anymore

We signed Jota and Thiago after winning the title. We signed 2 CB's after losing 3 CB's to season ending injuries.

Give it a rest mate ffs.

Going around in circles a bit now. My point is that we have had ample time to have more than one top quality option like Jota and we only weakened our back line by selling Lovren without replacement.

But I’ve said all I have to say now. I’m gonna shut up for the sake of the forum, because I’m even bored of the repetitive posts myself.

We added Jota and Thiago after winning the title. To say Liverpool haven't strengthened is not true is it? I'm not going over the CB situation again, it's been done to death.

Again, even Manchester City who spend loads every season couldn't go for three seasons straight at the same level. That's what we were asking Liverpool to do here.

Finish top four and I'm sure there will be an improvement next season. Hopefully we can see some sort of crowds back too
