Should There Be Four UK Teams in International Football?

Its historic, England invented modern soccer and made the first rules of the sport. Subsequently the first football association ever created was the English one, followed by Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.  This makes the 4 associations the oldest in the world. As a result all 4 associations have a permanent seat on the rules committee that determines the rules of the sport. seeing as there are only 8 total seats and only these 4 are permanent it gives the  British associations a large deal of power within the sport.  With that sort of power it's unlikely to change in the foreseeable future.

Scotland and England invented the concept of Intl football and the first Intl fixture was played in Glasgow. So I think it's pretty reasonable. Intl football isn't strictly played between sovereign states; its played between FAs.

Each of the smaller British nations have more footballing heritage than 90% of participants in Intl football anyway.

We had this conversation last year or the one before. I’m not biting this time 😂

It covers so many angles of international hatred as well to just assume Britain is the country and that’s it, England/Scotland, Wales/England and ofc the attempt at telling Catholics that not only is their country currently ruled by Britain…it is now the country of Britain.

You’d get slapped so many times Will Smith would join in too xD

Interesting reasoning, since I don't remember you to've intervened, when somebody spoke about West or East Germany!

Sounds like the same thing to me. But which is which?

According to this site the states in the USA aren’t states at all and are political subdivisions.  By that definition that would apply to England as well, as it is a sub to the UK. And if you look up the definition of shire ‘an administrative subdivision’, we will find out that Texas and England are both shires. Problem solved.

Both states and countries are something people just made up tbh. With the UK someone made up the idea that the UK is made up of 4 countries, the people in those countries all seem to think they're countries. With Texas there was a whole process they had to go through to become a state, so they're a state.

Doesn't really matter if that website says "US states aren't really states" if pretty much everyone considers that the states of the US are in fact states. Because then that website is just wrong, because the states are... states.

Don't take it up with us, take it up with the dead people who decided these things xD

I mean whether it is or not is an interesting debate, however as someone mentioned before football recognises many non sovereign states. Montserrat, Scotland, England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Bermuda, Tahiti, Faroe Islands, Hong Kong, to name a few. Taiwan probably are too now I think about it.

But then they don't recognise, Monaco, Vatican City, etc.

Then they recognise Gibraltar for some reason. Really is odd.

Even if its not a joke he's not wrong. Not our fault you live in a pineapple under the sea, and not a real country.
If England is a country why was it 'brexit' not exit? And why did you drag poor fucking Scotland with you into trade oblivion?

They are all seperate countries, idiot. That is why when Scotland voted to remain in the EU, they instead left.
