No idea what pay Jota is on but given Liverpool tend to bring in a lot of players in on lower wages with bonuses, he might have justified a larger basic pay. Quote

Yeah maybe. A lot of our wage structure is performance based. Quote

Bloody 4-0 The biggest question I have about that match is why the fuck are we playing a "friendly" with Man United? I know the answer is "to make money off fans in Thailand who get a chance to see 2 big rivals even though it's just a training match to get them ready for the season" but it still feels wrong to do anything with United and call it "friendly." 1 Quote

We used 32 different players in the match - basically giving 3 groups of players a chance on the pitch every 30 minutes. Looks like we had some good chances, but our finishing wasn't there (hit the post 3 times and forced some good saves). It's probably a good sign for United that these players are looking eager to prove themselves for their new manager, but I don't think there's much to read into this other than our players aren't ready for the upcoming season yet. LFCMike Posted July 12, 2022 Posted July 12, 2022 The only pre season game that is remotely worth paying attention to is the last one before the first league game. Even then, Liverpool have tended to play two over the final pre season weekend with completely different squads for each. Everything else is literally just a training session. 2 Quote

Administrator Stan Posted July 13, 2022 Administrator Posted July 13, 2022 Klopp given Freedom of Liverpool https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-62146418 Quote Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is to be given the freedom of the city after leading the Reds to huge success. Liverpool City Council will recommend conferring honorary Freedom of the City status on the 55-year-old German at a meeting next week. Klopp has won the Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup with the Reds as well as the Fifa Club World Cup. Meanwhile 78-year-old Sue Johnston, star of the Royle Family and Brookside, is also nominated for the same honour. The Warrington-born actor, who appeared in Brookside during the 1980s, will join the show's creator Phil Redmond on the roll of honour at Liverpool Town Hall. She was made an OBE in the 2009 Queen's Birthday Honours for her services to drama and charity. Last season, Liverpool narrowly missed out on an unprecedented quadruple. They were pipped by Manchester City to the Premier League title and narrowly beaten by Real Madrid in the Champions League final. Klopp's men had already won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup. The Local Democracy Reporting Service said Klopp will join other club legends Steven Gerrard and Sir Kenny Dalglish in being awarded the freedom of the city. Quote

Dr. Gonzo Posted July 21, 2022 Posted July 21, 2022 It's only a friendly so it doesn't really mean much, but Darwin Nunez looking a lot better today with his hattrick. Quote
LFCMike Posted July 21, 2022 Posted July 21, 2022 Nunez scored 4 in a 5-0 win v Leipzig. Only pre season and all that but good to see after some of the ridiculous stuff I've seen on social media over the last week or so. 2 Quote
Dr. Gonzo Posted July 21, 2022 Posted July 21, 2022 My friend says Carvalho plays like a mix of Coutinho & Gini... only a friendly and all that... but that sounds pretty brilliant for our midfield 3 if he can look like that in actual matches that mean anything. Quote
