When you say it like that it makes a monthly award sound stupid.

Congratulations for playing well for 3 games.

Mo Salah actually won our own POTM.

Not much between them though, both had excellent starts to the season.

So which one has the bragging rights?

Is it confirmed how many games he'll miss yet?

It will be 3 won't it? Two in the league and the league cup game (which he probably wouldn't have played in anyway)

There seemed a possibility it might get reduced to 1 since everybody seemed to feel sorry for him and recognise he did what every good striker would do in that situation just like ederson did what any good goalie would have done.

It may be able to be downgraded from violent conduct if that I what was written up.

I read somewhere that because it was an on the ball incident it's classified as serious foul play rather than violent conduct, and so it only carries a one match ban.

I have no idea if that's true.

The FA rules states:

PLAYING IN A DANGEROUS MANNER

Playing in a dangerous manner is any action that, while trying to play the ball, threatens injury to someone (including the player themself) and includes preventing a nearby opponent from playing the ball for fear of injury.

Think Mane's high foot comes under this category so therefore 3-match ban.

Right fucking laugh if it goes from 3 to 1, meaning the two games he'd then be available for is Leicester away and Leicester away.

Deserved red for me, but I hope he doesn't get 3 match ban. Paul Joyce has stated that we appeal, then it can get reduced to 1 or 2.

I would say he should only get 1 game when it was clearly unintentional.

Only problem is is that players routinely get three games for mistiming a normal challenge and unintentionally going studs up on someone's shin or foot, it's not really on to say Mane only gets one game when he's done the same thing but it's ended up in someone's face instead.

Really, both scenarios should only result in 1 game if it is as clear an accident as Mane's challenge was, but ultimately, if Mane has to do three games you can't really go crying about it because intentional or no, he put his boot high enough in the vicinity of another player to kick his airborne opponent at head height.

Not sure lifting your leg, studs showing, towards an opponent you know is closing you down to head the ball away is what every good striker would do. It was a last ditch attempt from Mane to win the ball ahead of Ederson and it was a dangerous one at that. He didn't intentionally boot Ederson in the face but it was his fault. All he can do is accept responsibility for the situation.

You can't desperately lunge in towards an opponent, 2 footed, to win a ball because if it goes wrong then things can really going wrong. It's a red regardless of good intentions. Same principle here.

Appeal for suspension reduction rejected. Not that it was in any doubt.

3 matches.
