Administrator Stan Posted June 1 Author Administrator Posted June 1 Real have gone early on their team news... Quote
6666 Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Adeyemi should've done better there. Looked like he shit himself at that opportunity. Quote
Administrator Stan Posted June 1 Author Administrator Posted June 1 Dortmund much better so far. Should be well ahead. Real done nothing so far. Quote
Bluewolf Posted June 1 Posted June 1 All these chances going to waste for Dortmund... Just sets things up nicely for those Madrid twats to go and get one and walk off with the trophy Quote
Inverted Posted June 1 Posted June 1 (edited) It does seem to be a consistent thing that when northern European teams go up against latin teams there's a fundamental unfairness. Any challenge or jockeying from the side/rear against a player on the latin team will instantly result in a dive and a yellow card against the northern team. Meanwhile the latin team is free to pressure and come through the back of the opposition because they're not going to roll around and force the referee to give a foul. Subscriber Viva la FCB+ Posted June 1 Subscriber Posted June 1 This just seems like a typical Madrid match doesn't it. Dortmund's been all over them, missed their couple real good chances and it's still 0-0. Not to mention seemingly all the benefits of reffing decisions going Madrid's way naturally to boot. Dortmund has to finish here or this is slipping away. Quote

They've upped their performance since half time. 1 Quote
Administrator Stan Posted June 1 Author Administrator Posted June 1 Carvajal header opens the deadlock! Had a similar one that went over about 10 mins ago. Dortmund didn't learn their lesson. Quote
Subscriber Viva la FCB+ Posted June 1 Subscriber Posted June 1 And there it is. Tbf Madrid's come out really strong in this second half. Quote
Administrator Stan Posted June 1 Author Administrator Posted June 1 Oh how I'd love for Haller to get an equaliser.... Quote
6666 Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Dortmund needed to take their chances in the first half. They've not been able to do anything in the 2nd half. Quote
Administrator Stan Posted June 1 Author Administrator Posted June 1 Real Madrid are just insane in this competition. Quote
Subscriber Viva la FCB+ Posted June 1 Subscriber Posted June 1 Real is just such a tough out in this competition man. Unfortunate for Dortmund the first half was there for them. Quote
El Profesor Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Scary thing is that Real Madrid's core is very young and they're about to add Mbappé and Endrick. Not to mention the fact that Arda Guler seems to be the real deal in the midfield. Even with Kroos retiring, one can probably count on Real Madrid winning at least 1 or 2 Champions League title before the end of the decade. I wish I were a Real Madrid fan, it must be great. Quote
OrangeKhrush Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Madrid are just very good at winning this tournament. Dortmund needed that first goal to cause a problem. They did really well though. Quote
Danny Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Reality is that Dortmund struggled under the pressure. Lack of composure in front of goal, silly yellow cards for dissent and couldn’t break Madrid down when they had then pinned back. Madrid however were just waiting for their chance, actually defended well all things considered, had a couple near misses with Bellingham and ultimately the more composed team won on the night. Quote

Administrator Stan Posted June 2 Author Administrator Posted June 2 Rio Useless. Offers little or next to little whenever on comms or as a pundit. Vinicius is quality but the goal wasn't anything special anyway Quote
Panflute Posted June 2 Posted June 2 idk why so many pundits thought Real Madrid would dominate the entire match and get an easy win. Madrid never really play like that unless it's against lower tier domestic sides. Probably the only time in the past few CL matches where they've been the dominant team was the home leg against Bayern, and even then it nearly went wrong. This was also true in their previous winning campaign in 2022, where they were on the backfoot for most of their ties against PSG, Chelsea and Man City. They just have a razor sharp sense of focus that seems completely immune to pressure. They also appear extremely fit even near the end of a match. I think that what makes them so successful is being the mentally strongest team as well as the most physically fit one. That's why they so often win matches where you thought it was going the other way. Even if Dortmund had scored once or twice in the first half, I doubt they would've made it. Madrid never stop behaving like that cup is theirs, and all it took for them to completely break Dortmund was one goal. It's quite insane to think there are now players who have 6 Champions League titles under their belt. Those kinds of numbers always seemed impossible after the '50s/'60s but here we are. Quote
Subscriber Mel81x+ Posted June 3 Subscriber Posted June 3 I wonder when the format changes whether we'll actually see this Madrid dominance considering how the group stages start to lay themselves out. But, you have to give it to them, they really own the Champions League. You have to put away at least 3 goals in the first half to put any kind of pressure on them and even then, a substitution can totally change their game. Quote
