MUFC Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Am going for our manager in November of this calender year. Quote
Smiley Culture Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Ten Hag, Silva, Postecoglu, Dyche, O’Neil, Martin and Lopetegui won’t see the end of the season at their current clubs. Quote
Administrator Stan Posted September 8 Administrator Posted September 8 Copper may not be the first but I don't think he'll last the season. Especially if we find ourselves cut adrift by more than 2 wins by around Feb perhaps. I think first manager to go will be Dyche or Martin. Quote
Dave Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Hopefully Ten Hag stays at least another full season. 1 Quote
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted September 16 Subscriber Posted September 16 There's a clause in Dyche's contract where he gets paid an extra year's salary if he gets sacked before the contract expires, which makes it much more unlikely we'll pull the plug on him given our financial situation. However, if we get beaten by Leicester at the weekend then I don't see that the club has much choice but to sack him. Quote

BBC were one of the earlier publications that went on about strained relations between how and Mitchell. It hasn't struck me that there is any proof of a fundamental break in relations. It was a frustrating summer but on the other hand you don't always get what you want and rather than just buying for the sake of it, holding out is the better option. Eddie Howe was projected as the first high profile sacking, not sure who's projection it was, may have been SkySports, the fallout of the Mitchell interview led to stories of a break down in trust that saw big debates on talksport about Howe getting sacked. There is no real option out there so I find it to be crisis acting. Quote

I think things are being a bit over exaggerated though. They've had a slow start but I don't think they need to panic yet. Their aim will be to get top 4 which they are still more than capable of. I haven't seen the comment he made about always winning something in the second season so I can't comment on it. I'd have to see it in its context. However he does seem like someone who thinks he's a better manager than he is. People have to remember Gerrard won the league in Scotland. And the other leagues he managed in aren't leagues where you will be up against other elete managers Quote
OrangeKhrush Posted September 23 Posted September 23 Options are a bit skint. I heard a "rumour" about Tuchel however I dont think the plug will be pulled to soon if at all. I predicted a 7th or 8th place finish, however it is the nature of the football that is "alarming". It is Bournemouth Eddie back and not the Simeone one. Teams just play straight through us effortlessly Quote
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted October 1 Subscriber Posted October 1 I think we could see one of those seasons where half a dozen go by Christmas. Martin, Ten Hag, Lopetegui, Cooper, O'Neil and Dyche I think are all very realistic. Quote

OrangeKhrush Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Lopetegui is probably leading the race right now Quote
Subscriber Dan+ Posted October 1 Subscriber Posted October 1 Had O'Neil at 20/1 after their first game - I think he's probably a loss to a bad side away from it. Their form is appalling and has been since about March. I do wonder if it could be Cooper. If we lose to Bournemouth we're likely in the bottom 3, 3 points from our opening 7 games going into the best run of fixtures of the season. But then this is too logical for us. We had a similar situation in 2022/23 and decided to let the manager nail us for another 6 months before getting rid when it was all pretty hopeless anyway. Cooper does just need to leave. I've never seen a manager have this little fan backing this early on. Quote

Subscriber Dan+ Posted October 21 Subscriber Posted October 21 Convinced there's value to be had in this market. There seems to be a mad swing in the odds pretty much weekly and clubs just seem far more reluctant to sack these days. I'd get rid of Martin if I was Southampton but I think he'll sweet talk his way out of it. West Ham aren't much of a sacking club at all despite their fans being quite demanding of it but Lopetegui I thought was an obvious duff appointment. Bloke's a real mystery to me. Quote
