Could have done worse. Could have gone and managed a team like Madrid. Wish him the best of luck, he did more than he had to for the club.

What would be nice to see is what he does as the NT coach of Germany if that ever happens.

Bad news for people who simultaneously think Red Bull are the root of all evil in football and Klopp's socialist, man of the people credentials are purer than the Pope's knickers.

Yeah, I'm gutted tbh

I mean it's easier to see it from the outside and I did/do believe he probably has left-leaning sensibilities overall but the bloke was the king of playing your fanbase like a fiddle while he was Liverpool manager and saying what you'd all want to get behind at every turn, so it's always hard to know how much of it was genuine and how much of it was slightly calculated.

Same at Mainz and Dortmund. Looks like he's simply good at saying what his audience wants to hear.

It's probably something that I'd have been arsed about say 15 years or so ago but lets be honest most clubs these days can only claim to be marginally 'better' than the RB structure.

It's certainly evolved to a point of no return in modern football. I honestly don't care what the guy does after he leaves us because that chapter of his career is over and at the same time, I am not going to pretend that anyone would be upset if their team (local/supported/NT) started doing really well. There is of course a section of the football watching/matchgoing population that think this way but it's certainly not how the clubs or countries view what their long-term goals are.

I don't know much about Red Bull. Why are they so disliked?

To explain this I have to go back a bit: The first of the in the meantime 6 clubs of their nowadays 6 club conglomerate was Red bull Salzburg, which they got by taking over the formerly fan-owned club Austria Salzburg, with eliminating this clubs democratic club structure and changing their name to Red Bull, whilst deleting the old club and his history from club register, against the will and ignoring massive protests of this clubs fans.Their second acquisition was German club SSV Markranstädt, a then 5th tier club that went bust. To make sure their take-off didn't violate German club regulations too obviosly they created a dirty trick. Since DFB, the German football association, already had the 50+1 rule in place, they couldn't just take over this club as owner and scratch member's voting rights. Therefore they changed the statutes of said club in a way that it's still member-owned officially yet restricted the voting rights to 23 members who had to be approvedf by the Red Bull concern, undermining the sense of 50+1 rule specifically, and the fundamentally democratic spirit of German association law regarding clubs generally, in the process. Now add that REd Bull benefitted from loop holes in DFB regulations and therefore didn't need to start in the lowest tier of the pyramide, like other new founded clubs, but in 5th tier and plastering their logo over everything formerly associated with the old clubs. That should explain , why they're hated. Also it's debattable whether forming an empire of football clubs in different countries isn't questionable in itself.

Disclaimer: If you're not aware what the 50+1 rule is, look it up. This post is one of the longest i've ever wrote on this forum without going into its details already.

This is pretty much true in much the Premier League and probably most of the elite clubs across Germany/Italy/Spain/PSG. I don't know if Germany has gotten quite as bad though outside of Bayern and Leipzig, so maybe this will go down a little bit worse. His role in German domestic football was the one of the genius manager who guided Dortmund to taking down big, bad, monopolising Bayern.

When you look around though I think you're right that we all have to accept that football is heading in one direction only. Even since 10 years ago when we thought it was bad with all the oil money, we've had this epidemic of multi-club ownership, court battles and financial breaches that are almost impossible to understand as a normal fan.

Elite English and European football is a great advert for grassroots and lower league football at the moment.

Wrong! RB Leipzig is still an exeption in German football all other clubs bar Leverkusen and Wolfsburg are member-owned and directed through elections. This expressively includes Bayern.

He does so many adverts here on TV, so I never thought that. xD

You can be socialist and still get that bag. The real hypocrisy is if the money is generated through exploitation :whistling:

What we can all agree on however is how funny this is.

That's why it's funny though, just that sentence keeps me laughing

Dont make the mistake of lumping Bayern's dominance financially or otherwise with the likes of RB or the other exceptions. Bayern is fair game to be criticized for a great many things but still very much member owned.
