Azeem Posted July 9, 2022 Posted July 9, 2022 A lot of problems of humanity are simply because of this innate desire to see others become poor after you become rich. They should study brains of dead corrupt oligarchs, I'm sure there must be some kind of swelling due to excessive wealth that makes them numb in the skull. Quote

Azeem Posted July 13, 2022 Posted July 13, 2022 I don't know about UK but most such stories from US are teenagers who only join military as a last resort to fix their life, they are clearly not fit to function properly in a society; given free hand with fancy weapons. 2 Quote

Funny you say that because I used to play games with a guy that was always a bit strange and doing weird stuff. Never really had any direction on what he was doing and is now part of the US military. nudge Posted July 13, 2022 Posted July 13, 2022 So the Sri Lankan president was supposed to step down today, but he fled the country instead and left the PM (whom he assigned as a PM a while ago after the former PM resigned due to the pressure from the people) as the acting president. There's now a curfew/emergency situation again, while the protesters occupied the PM's office and the party leaders had a meeting, asking the PM to resign immediately. Certain opposition leaders appealed to the Army personel/police/special forces to ignore any order from the PM or the president, and not to use force against the protesters. This is all not very helpful as the country is currently in talks with IMF, World Bank, and whoever the fuck is willing to talk to them in general, hoping to find the solution to restructuring the debt and getting the country back on track. 1 Quote
Waylander Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 The reporter on this is Indian and thinks this is the end game for the EU. I don't agree though may cause a problem with the Netherlands at least. On another link one Netherlands MP said what made this worse was that council officials were pointing to farms saying when that ones goes we can build hotel accomodation for illegal asylum seekers. Now if that view goes mainstream I would expect the government to fall. https://www.brighteon.com/6072b5b6-267e-46cd-a093-d0c2b992b444 Quote

Bluewolf Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Immortality Pill rejected by two thirds of Americans study finds... and let's be honest I think the majority of the rest of the world will probably be relieved about that.. A new study has found that the majority of Americans would choose not to take a pill that would make them immortal. Roughly 900 people were asked whether they’d take a pill which would allow them to live forever at their current age. According to research published in the Journal of Aging Studies, only around 33 per cent of the people surveyed said yes. Around 42 per cent said they wouldn’t take the pill, while 25 per cent said they weren’t sure. Interestingly, as PsychNewsDaily states, the people fell into three separate age categories, but all voted in a similar way. There were young people between the ages of 18 and 29, as well as seniors with an average age of 72 and an older bracket with an average age of 88 who all took part. The figures were consistent across the three groups, but they did have differing opinions on which age they’d ideally be frozen at – with the 88-year-olds, perhaps understandably, stating they’d like to be frozen at a younger age than they were.
