Watchmen 7/10

Great film. Acting was superb.  Super hero films always grow an interest to me when politics/historical events are included. Such as X-Men First Class. Creates a sense of realism.

My question is, how did Zack Snyder fuck up so bad with Man of Steel and Justice League?

Watched Aquaman, which was a bit meh for me. It's like DC are a five-six years behind Marvel.

Marvel started with origin stories. After Age of Ultron realised people have grown tired of destruction porn, so moved on to the brainy stuff like Civil War. Chased loony but super fun ideas like Ragnarok. Brought in humour with Guardians of the Galaxy and Antman. Took risks with R rated stuff like Deadpool and Logan. And are closing it with Infinity and Endgame (I know there will be a reboot).

But DC, who finally added a wee bit of humour with Justice League are still stuck at the destruction porn level. Honestly Aquaman felt like a child overusing Ragnarok's colour and creating an underwater version of Black Panther, with a less interesting villain.

I thought that Aquaman was pretty good but watched it in the cinema with a load of popcorn which could have influenced my thoughts!

Could be. Watching a movie in a theater with an involved audience can be a good experience instead of watching it at home. However, I am certain you will change your opinion if you watch it again. It profited from the hype.

Finally watched The Four Year Plan. This should have been made into a series instead of a 90 minutes movie. Absolutely mad how they ran that club. It's a surprise they didn't get further relegated. Maybe they didn't because Briatore stepped down and allowed Bhatia to take over.

The most interesting character was Gianni Paladini. Yep, he was a jerk and acted like Briatore's pet, but he would make a fabulous fictional character.

Outlaw King (2018)

I feel like this could have been a a great Mini-Series instead of a big story being cramped into 2 hours. The pacing felt off at times. Oterwhise it was a really good movie. The fighting scenes were amazing and Chris Pine was great in the title role. Aaron Taylor-Johnson was even more tremendous though.

7/10

Watched Bumblebee, and it reminded me of those eighties movies of a kid finding and then protecting alien, monster, robot, etc(coincidentally this is set in eighties) . They have turned Bumblebee into a dog, hoping to induce Awws from the viewers, and it works sometimes. Dare I say it's the best Transformers movie and maybe that's because Michael Bay is not the director - and that means better humour and people not looking over-caffeinated. A decent watch.

Watched The Positively True Adventures of the Alleged Texas Cheerleader-Murdering Mom. Yes that is the title and it's based on a true story.

I will be honest. I was bored and wanted to watch a really good bad movie, and came across this, hoping for that. But it's an HBO original movie, and those are usually brilliant and so is this. It's a funny satire about a mom wanting to kill a girl who beat her daughter for a place in the cheerleading squad. It's a loony plot, but because it's based on a true story and well made, this is a really good movie. Holly Hunter and Beau Bridges were brilliant in it.

Velvet Buzzsaw: 7/10

Painfully mediocre at times, laced with some incredible scenes. One in particular had me in tears of laughter. Overall disappointing but the genius is laced in there.

Sums it up perfectly for me. There's an incredible film in there somewhere.

Abducted in plain sight - 8.5/10 - The production is nothing special, the score is for the story. It's an utterly insane series of events.

Saw this today and have to agree. What a good mini series this would have been.

Very solid movie, really enjoyed it. Great fight scenes, stunning scenery and the lead actors very believable in their roles.

The pacing of the film felt a bit rushed, especially not giving time for certain scenes to develop further. Normally when retelling these stories you need to pad it out to allow viewers to become more emotionally invested in characters and their development. So perhaps that is why a series could have been a better way to go.

That said, very enjoyable film worth a watch and one that's possibly.gone under the radar going straight on to Netflix.

Going to go back through the James Bond films, Dr. No tonight 😍

Dr.No is ace, that's the first film I ever saw with Sean Connery as 007 and after that, I started reading all the books of Bond by Ian Flemming and have the series in my bedroom my son bought me a few years back for a Xmas present, I would love to undress Ursula Andress in the film with Bond. :x :P

Watched Darkest Hour last night, and gotta say that after all the plaudits it received I was extremely bored with it.

Amazed how they made a movie, about such an interesting subject, a complete borefest.

Kudos to Gary Oldman though. He was great.
