  1. IT'S NOT COMING HOME Apologies for the delay, I've been away on holiday since the final so not had a chance to get it rounded up. Congratulations to @Coma, @Lucas, @Tommy, @Viva la FCB, @Rucksackfranzose, @Stan, @CaaC (John) and @nudge who are all Euro 2024 Champions. @Coma is our Gloryhunter Euro 2024 Champion so their name is engraved in the Hall of Fame which I'm updating now so don't race over there too quickly. Thanks for all taking part - sorry it's been a bit delayed in results. I'm undecided on whether Gloryhunter will come back for the new season but I'll let you all know. As for Gloryhunter 2023/24 - I'm not sure if those results will be out anytime soon. It's taking ages due to the backlog of results!

As far as first rounds go that was very interesting, @Bluewolf who was one of the last few to submit his answers in leads the pack and what a slim lead it is. @CaaC (John), @DeadLinesman, @Dr. Gonzo and @Pyfish are all in close second with @Lucas not far behind either. Important Notes: Some sheep feel very strongly about VAR who would have guessed Imran Khan was the most popular political celebrity who used to be a sports-person The sheep chose Archery as their comeptitive sport at the olmypics. What's odd is that they also have a plethora of choice in alcoholic beverages from the other question about a sponsor who also makes alcohol. Archery and Alcohol mixed is quite the fun time for anyone watching event. We move onto the next round now and will we see an upset at the top? Who knows. Note: Can someone from the admin team please pin this post to the top of the sub-forum group? Thank you.

  4. RESULTS What? Is that you Pyfish? Doing a results post ON TIME? Wow. @Viva la FCB, @Coma and @Lucas all trade for new teams with Germany, Spain and Italy beating their teams. Expected wins for @Rucksackfranzose (England) and @Bluewolf (Netherlands) means they stay put. @Stan moves to France to join @CaaC (John). @Tommy moves to Turkey. The shock result came for @nudge who's Romania team beat Ukraine. And here's the next set of matches! That screenshot has Tommy's last result on and I can't be arsed to redo it so.

  5. Ladies and gents, we have a winner, the only question left is who will win the bonus round, still that has no bearing on the final table and won't be waited for by me, therefore. On a sidenote: Hats off to @Coma, while there were 4 players predicting another champion than Bayern, he was the only one winning the full 3 points for predicting them finishing on 3rd spot. 7. FINALLY. I've been away on holiday and the hotel WiFi was rubbish but here we are, now all up to date. Same case as usual where I've been delayed doing results, if you drew (and didn't say otherwise in the thread), you've remained at the current team. To get it out quicker, I'm not going to summarise each person's results. I've sorted the results by username for this week only to make it easier to see the routes to where you are now. @Viva la FCB is the only person not to have lost a game so far this season. @Stan remains top of the table, whilst @RandoEFC, myself and @Bluewolf sit in the bottom three. Back to usual from now on - and hopefully more frequent updates! @CaaC (John) / @Lucas / @londonerlilie / @Tommy / @Storts / @Coma / @Rucksackfranzose

  8. Day three in Milan now complete. First day was kind of lazy, got in after a fairly early morning flight hung out until we got into the b&b to shower and do some laundry and nap before heading out to the San Siro for the evening and the match. Day two we spent most of it near the Duomo and what a site it was. Really amazing stuff. We did a short guided tour to get some history and went up top to the rooftops as well. Other then that finished off the evening in the canal district which was a really neat area and a great dinner. Day three we spent at Lake Como. Thank you for kicking me to go here @Rucksackfranzose and @Stan it was beautiful. Really reminded me of the Amalfi coast area with all the little quaint towns. The water was amazing to cool off in as well. Ended up spending most of our time in Bellagio but we trained into Varena first and trained out of Como. Didn't end up with allot of time in Como itself but we did make it up to the funicular for another great viewpoint. I also don't know what we would have done with another day in Milan either, this was a great day trip. Tbh so far the only place I felt like we didn't have enough time so far was Siracusa. It was just too big to cover everything worth seeing in one day. Off to Venice tomorrow for 1 day before heading to Florence after. One pic from the viewpoint in Como.

  9. WEEKEND & MIDWEEK Here are the results from last weekends games and any of the midweek matches. If there was a drawn, you've remained where you are (tempted to make this a new rule at some point until you get hit 5 games with a team or something and then you'll get your choice - but for now it remains the same). @Rucksackfranzose was the early game last Friday and lost out to 3. Liga's Saarbrucken so now he moves there ahead of tomorrow's game. @RandoEFC moved to Barrow last weekend after they defeated Sutton. Barrow then went onto draw with Accrington so he now has a choice who to go with for this weekends match. @CaaC (John)'s Leeds journey ended with a 1-0 defeat to Birmingham last weekend. @Bluewolf still is yet to win a game, or see a goal for any of their sides, as Reading lost to Port Vale last weekend, and then Vale drew 0-0 with Blackpool. A draw and then a win for @londonerlilie means they remain with Wimbledon and pick up 4 points from the last 2 games. @Viva la FCB avoided an upset in DfB Pokal as St Pauli bagged a 5-0 win over lower league opposition, but it was @Tommy with a big 9-1 win that steals the spotlight this week. @Coma also won in the DfB Pokal so 3 points there as well. @Lucas didn't seem too thrilled at joining Gillingham but 2 wins in 2 games has grabbed him 6 points. A first win of the season for myself gets me off the mark with 3 points and I remain with Grenoble. @Stan and @Storts both continued a good start to the season with Leicester by adding a 1-0 win last weekend, and Ipswich winning 2-0 against Stoke to keep both of their 100% records in tact. Everybody now has at least a point on the board!

  13. Alright, so here we go... The new fantasy Bundesliga game for the upcoming season is here! Website: https://fantasy.bundesliga.de/ TF365 league: https://fantasy.bundesliga.com/invitations/league_invite/C8RA7Y This time, we are going with the official fantasy game of Bundesliga, so the rules are slightly different, but I think it will be easier for everyone, and it doesn't require too much micro-management, so won't take too much time and will also keep you in the game even if you miss a few matchdays here and there. Here's the overview of the main rules: every player starts with a budget of 150m, and has to choose 15 players for their squad (2 goalkeepers, 5 defenders, 5 midfielders, 3 forwards). You can change your team as many times as you want before the season starts. After that, you get 5 free transfers between every two matchdays, in case you want to make any changes you have to choose your formation and your starting XI before the kickoff of the first match of a matchday. Important! The game uses automatic substitutions, meaning that your substitute players will be automatically subbed in and get you points as well, if they perform better than a starting player in the same position. So no fiddling with your team necessary, and you can still earn points even if you forget to put someone in your starting XI you have to choose a Star Player every matchday, and the points they earn will be multiplied by 1.5 your formation and starting XI are automatically saved and carried over to the next matchday (if you don't make any changes), which means that even if you don't have time or simply forget to update it, you will still be earning points. So no penalties for missing some matchdays, which keeps you competitive until the end players will earn points based on their performances, you can see the point overview here: https://fantasy.bundesliga.de/page/scoring_rules The new season starts tomorrow, in around 18 hours. You can select players for your squad at any point before the season starts! Hope you'll all join @Rick @Faithcore @Stan @Viva la FCB @Tommy @londonerlilie @Rucksackfranzose @Michael @Coma @Pyfish and anyone else who wants to join, obviously! @Rucksackfranzose I know you said you're out, but since this one doesn't require you to remember to change your team, maybe you'll change your mind

He may have only gone up one place above @nawoo, but he's definitely well-placed to gain ground on the leader @6666 as he's only 4 points away. @CaaC (John) was the next highest scorer, gaining 17 points and join @Azeem, @Spike and @Tommy on 59 points. All players got double-digit scores, 5 of us getting above the average of 13 points.

  19. Watched it out so don't know what the prevailing narratives and opinions are but my take on the game is as follows. Both teams and the game started off pretty well but then fizzled out into a bit of a non-event of a first half. Spain looked more like they had a clue what they were doing when they carried the ball into the attacking third but didn't really create anything. Second half, Spain were pretty much in control for most of it, didn't sit on their lead and could easily have killed it off with a second. Instead another moment of quality from England draws it level. Again I was left thinking how lucky this manager is. Based on the moments England players have produced to keep them in the tournament, they probably could have got this far with Rishi Sunak managing them. Spain obviously reestablished themselves after England equalised and went on to take a deserved win. Spain were the best team in the opening set of fixtures and remained so throughout. Germany were the only ones who got close and really that quarter final between them should have been the final. I don't think I've ever seen so many "big" countries perform so poorly at a major tournament. England, France, Italy, Portugal and Belgium were all pretty shite. Netherlands had their moments but were disappointing overall too. Spain thoroughly deserve the trophy as the only team who looked like they were really used to playing as a cohesive unit and not just "keeping it tight" and hoping their star players produce a moment to decide the game. That takes me on to England. The performance against the Netherlands was the only one that probably met expectations overall. The rest was pretty much crap performances bailed out by an individual moment of quality. That's usually enough to get you to a quarter final or a semi final before you get found out. On this occasion, thanks to a combination of how the draw panned out and a lack of actually good teams to get drawn against, it got England to the final before their luck ran out. You won't see another final with the performance England served up in the tournament overall. I think this might be the worst possible outcome for the team to be honest because it leaves them without a trophy again, but it's enough to see Southgate get given World Cup 2026 as well and he's just a bad manager. Why is he a bad manager? We've just spent the entire tournament watching Kane, Foden and Bellingham look painfully ineffective compared to what we all know they're capable of. He changed the entire approach mid-tournament. I don't think any England player can come out of that tournament rated higher than a 7/10 and I don't think you could even go that high with any of the attacking players. You can't be given that much talent and not find a way of playing that gets near the best out of at least a couple of them. Overall, I'm actually glad that tournament is over now. Group stages were class. The knockouts went on too long and the majority of those games were pretty turgid. Made me look forward to having the domestic season back at least.

  20. We have a winner! Everyone was able to pick a team to progress to the Quarter Finals, either Spain, England or Portugal, so we moved onto the Anytime Goalscorer phase of the tie breaker. With the others backing Kylian Mbappe or Cristiano Ronaldo, the latter even missing a penalty, it was @Pyfish who ended up coming through to win thanks to Harry Kane's goal in Extra Time for England against Slovakia. Congratulations to @Pyfish and thanks to everyone for taking part!

  24. The 2023-24 season has now been concluded: The last round showdown at the top of the standings as all of the players that were mathematically able to win the title were eliminated in the first round, meaning that @nudge holds on and wins the Last Man Standing League title by 1 point, ahead of @Viva la FCB and @6666 in joint 2nd place. Congratulations to our top three! @CaaC (John) and @Pyfish both gained several positions in the final standings thanks to being the only two players to score points in the final round. It's hard to hand out a wooden spoon award this year as several entrants who took part in 4 or 5 rounds ended up tied on 5 points. See you all for the Euro 2024 edition!

  25. Results - Round Five Congratulations to @CaaC (John) who wins the final round of the season ahead of @Pyfish. Both remaining contenders picked a third consecutive match winner, and both Brest and PSG dispatched their opponents comfortably. Unfortunately for @Pyfish, Mbappe didn't even feature for PSG but he'd have been doing well anyway to beat @CaaC (John)'s pick, Wissam Ben Yedder, who helped himself to the first of Monaco's four goals against Nantes just 6 minutes into the game. Our points scorers this round: 6 points (3 correct picks + 3 bonus points) - @CaaC (John) 5 points (3 correct picks + 2 bonus points) - @Pyfish 0 points - @nudge, @Viva la FCB, @6666, @Michael, @RandoEFC, @Lucas, @Storts, @Stan, @Tommy, @Bluewolf, @...Dan, @Dan, @Redcanuck, @Rucksackfranzose and @DeadLinesman Thanks to everyone for taking part this season!

  27. It's not been the most competitive outside of the top 2/3 in recent seasons. The gap between Championship and Premier League is widening, I think. It's ultra-competitive in the Championship as almost always there's battles going down right til the final day of the season (this season was a bit of an anomaly, mind). This means a 'weaker' side can often find themselves promoted almost as if they're not ready to be because of the gulf between the two leagues. The money in the game has corrupted it beyond the point of no return. I've seen so many fans waver with their support for the game these days, let alone support for their own team. And that's a sad time for the game because it's not what we all know it to be.

  28. Results - Gameweek One Not much you can say after that! PSG came from behind to salvage a 3-3 draw at home to Le Havre this weekend but it isn't enough to prevent @nudge, @Viva la FCB, @6666, @Michael, @RandoEFC, @Lucas, @Storts, @Stan, @Tommy, @Bluewolf, @...Dan, @Dan, @Redcanuck, @Rucksackfranzose and @DeadLinesman from going out in Gameweek 1 with zero points on the board. All there is to say really is see you next season and thanks for playing! Surviving into Gameweek Two are @Pyfish and @CaaC (John), who went a different way and successfully backed Lille ahead of their 2-1 success at Metz on Sunday. It's a duel now to see who wins this round! Preview - Gameweek Two The fixtures for Gameweek Two are as follows - a bit of a challenge presented as there are only actually seven fixtures over the weekend: Toulouse vs Montpellier Lens vs Lorient Le Havre vs Strasbourg Monaco vs Clermont Foot Metz vs Rennes Brest vs Nantes Lille vs Lyon As we're down to the last two, you will need to make your tie breaker picks so that we can choose a winner in the event that neither of you picks a match winner successfully, so please pick: 1) A match-winning team that you haven't already used before now. 2) An anytime goalscorer from any of this Gameweek's fixtures. 3) The time of first goal in the randomly selected fixture, Metz vs Rennes. Good luck!

There are only 4 sets of fixtures left. If we're being honest, there's a very good chance we'll all manage to be eliminated in that time but if not, we'll decide that round with tie breakers in the last weekend. I'll get that started tomorrow.

  31. Results - Round Three It was a short round this time so it's already time for the results! These fixtures spanned last weekend, with almost half of those left in the game eliminated on Friday in the first game of the weekend, as Fiorentina blew a 2-1 lead in the 89th minute to lose 3-2 at Lecce in a dramatic turnaround, but for all the wrong reasons if you're @nudge, @CaaC (John), @Rick or @Rucksackfranzose. More blood was spilt on Sunday as Torino fired a blank against basement boys Salernitana, marking the end of the road for @Viva la FCB, @Dan, @Redcanuck and @Lucas. The only person to pick a third consecutive winner was @Pyfish, who takes a clean victory without a tie break required. His success wasn't without drama itself, as Bologna needed three goals in the last 20 minutes to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 victory. Final scores for this round: 6 points (3 correct picks + 3 bonus points) - @Pyfish 4 points (2 correct picks + 2 bonus points) - @nudge, @Viva la FCB, @CaaC (John), @Dan, @Redcanuck, @Rick, @Rucksackfranzose and @Lucas 2 points (1 correct pick + 1 bonus point) - @6666, @RandoEFC, @Michael, @Bluewolf, @Tommy, @Stan and @Storts 1 point (to appease those that were upset about his half-time pick) - @...Dan

  34. Here's a photo from my daughter's 4 year old kindergarten/pre-school Christmas play. It was telling the Christmas Story, of the birth of Jesus, with the stable, angels, shepherds, wise men, etc What I found the most amusing was that my daughter was chosen to play the (inanimate) Star of Bethlehem (a.k.a Christmas Star), the one that the shepherds and wise men followed to Jesus. She was the only person playing an inanimate object and had no lines and just needed to stand at the back and twinkle. Despite that many people said she stole the show with her enthusiasm and beaming smile of delight at being the star.

  40. RESULTS There were only a few matches midweek last week and only one resulted in a draw so makes sense to combine them with the weekend matches (that's the excuse I'm making for having a shit week and couldn't be arsed to update). @Lucas and @Bluewolf were on the move again in midweek, this time to Barnsley who then went on to draw with Fleetwood at the weekend so now they have the choice of remaining with Barnsley who are in FA Cup action against Horsham next, or move to Fleetwood who play Blackpool tonight. @Storts chose the Hollywood life and won with Wrexham in midweek before beating their former National League rivals Notts County at the weekend too. @nudge remained with Bayern after 2 wins including an 8-0 thrashing of Darmstadt. @CaaC (John) continues an excellent run with Ipswich with 2 more wins to add to his tally. @londonerlilie was beaten by Dortmund in the Champions League so flies over to Germany where they drew 3-3 with Frankfurt so a choice to be made. @Stan's Southampton only managed a draw against Preston and he automatically remained with the Saints for the weekend where they beat Birmingham. After 11 games with Grenoble, I move to Pau FC. @Coma moves to Nurnberg after losing with Holstein Kiel. @Tommy grabs 2 wins, one in the league and a 6-3 win in extra time in DfB Pokal (fun fact: Tommy has now seen 15 goals scored for his teams in the DfB Pokal in TWO games this season). @Viva la FCB also grabbed 2 more wins to carry on the unbeaten one team streak to 13 games (I may have to look into the past seasons stats and see what our longest streak is with one team!). @RandoEFC, still stuck with an U21 team, won 6-3 with Arsenal's U21s to remain with them. Their next 'proper' game is against Reading so there's a still a chance to get back to senior football if they can beat Manchester City's U21 next time out. A few movements in positions since the last table! I'll try and update sooner this time....

  41. RESULTS @nudge's masterplan paid off as they are now in Bundesliga with Bayern after their win in the cup. @CaaC (John) picked up 2 wins in 2 since the the last results, putting him in a strong position to chase down @Stan at the top of the table who won with Leeds at the weekend too. @londonerlilie steps into the top flight as they move to Manchester City. @Coma and @Tommy decided to part ways rather than stick together with the former losing their next game and joining Greuther Furth, and the latter going on to win their game and remaining with Kaiserslautern. @RandoEFC remains stuck in the U21 system but moves to Arsenal's U21 team - with opportunities to play league teams coming up again soon. @Rucksackfranzose moves to another lower league team, this time joining Vilzing. @Viva la FCB remains the only player to have not lost a game so far this season as he continues a great run with St Pauli. @Bluewolf grabbed a win with Derby for a vital 3 points to move out of the bottom three. @Storts moves to Gillingham. @Lucas is the only player with a choice to make - Morecambe or Swindon. The league table is starting to balance out a bit now so we can see who is truly having a good or bad season. And here are the next set of fixtures for all.

  43. Results A bumper edition of results because I've been swamped at work again - if you drew before the latest game, you're at the same team. I'm going to be on holiday from Monday but I'll try and keep the results as up to date as I can - but if not, you'll have to keep tabs on your teams and post in here of any movements you'd like to do in the events of draws. @Stan remains top of the table with 2 more wins with Leicester and with other results, he's building a gap now. Grenoble got another 0-0 draw but I'm staying put in the hope of a win with them soon. Another 0-0 for St Pauli and @Viva la FCB too! We now have our first breakthrough to the top flight as @londonerlilie 's Wimbledon lost out in the EFL Cup to Chelsea. @Tommy grabbed another win too with Nurnberg. @RandoEFC caused me a little bit of a headache as Stockport lost out to Manchester United's U21 team - I've made the decision that he will indeed move to them as they are active in Premier League 2 so he will still get games. He started his first game with the U21s with a 10-1 win over Stoke U21. @Storts loses 2 games on the bounce, first with Ipswich losing 4-3 to Leeds, and then Leeds being knocked out of the EFL Cup by Salford. A win and a loss for Birmingham means @CaaC (John) moves to Cardiff. It was also a win and a loss for @Bluewolf but the other way round, losing with Blackpool to Lincoln before they then went on to beat Sheffield United on penalties - Bluewolf's first win of the season! @Rucksackfranzose has moved to Unterhaching, @Coma is now with Kaiserslautern and @Lucas moves from Gillingham to Colchester. And here are this weekend's fixtures

  45. Just finishing up day two in Sicily/Catania. Today we spent the day in Taormina, beautiful place yet again. Tomorrow we are off to Syracusa and then off to Milan for three days. Tickets seemed to work out I'll know when were there but they look good now that they are delivered. We bought tickets to the opening match Inter vs Monza. I tried dealing with Inter's official site but I couldn't get a verification code without an Italian phone number and we wanted to get the tickets ahead of time. I tried emailing them but the time difference meant the tickets I wanted got taken two or three different times then they stopped responding. Bought through viagogo seemed a little sketchy so I half expected it not to work out but knock on wood so far so good for Saturday. Here's a shot from the city up top. Took a funicular down to the beach later which is roughly in the bottom right corner of the pic.

  46. Italy is absolutely beautiful so far. I wish I had made it here sooner tbh. So far we've done Assisi, Salerno/Amalfi coast, Capri and today in Pompeii. Tomorrow off to Naples for one night before heading to Catania. Just saw that Mount Etna erupted and closed the Catania airport and holy shit on that timing. The pictures are nuts, thankfully theyre set to open the airport tomorrow at 6 am so we should be fine for the day after. Apparently there hasn't been a major eruption since 92 that is some crazy stuff. Didn't take alot of pics on my phone and apparently I can't upload more then one they too big but here's one from Capri. Took a funicular up part way up the mountain and then a chairlift. Insane views of the entire island.
