Dr. Gonzo
Looks like Liverpool lost a sponsor over the ESL backlash and other sponsors threatened to. I assume these are the key external stakeholders, and they aren't counting lifelong "legacy" fans they've alienated as part of these external stakeholders? I'd take him if he were willing to follow in Carlos Queiroz's footsteps and be the Iran manager. The football under Queiroz was ugly, but Iran were a decent Asian side. He could easily get a better job, but I think he could/should go into international management now. I think his style of football is better suited to international football and I think there's some countries with some squads that he could do really well with. Burning Gold
Well that was a fun 48 hours wasn't it? Not sure where we go from here. Project Big Picture was largely forgotten about, but I think a few too many bridges have been burnt here. Can't speak for other clubs, but I certainly think for Liverpool fans the owners have lost a lot of goodwill. I don't think we've seen the last of this either. This was an incredibly naive attempt without even an attempt at PR, which would've carried them a long way. They won't be so stupid next time

I would love this all to end up having us follow the German 50+1 rule. Imagine the scenes of Government forcibly made the owners all do that. I read somewhere that the government had been planning some sort of shake up in English football regarding fans and ownership and said so in their 2019 manifesto, but obviously other things have taken some priority in that time, could be bullshit but who knows. Subscriber Dan+ Posted April 21, 2021 Subscriber Share Posted April 21, 2021 The key word is 'suspended' - thankfully I think the managers, players and fans have made their feelings clear and it just simply won't work without them, particularly the first two on board. What we need to do is make an example of these clubs though. I agree with Rando's suggestion in that you should have them hit with a heavy points deduction next season if they haven't changed ownership by then - or at least some sort of technicality that prevents this kind of thing happening again. I think you just have to make it clear that this cannot happen. I hope this isn't the end of it though. I think football does need a bit of a shake up and I'd like to see more happen. The whole thing should be one big eye-opener.

Devil-Dick Willie
I think we're pushing the boundaries of what a player is capable of at this point. An every week starter at a top English club is going to play A shitload of games at a Euro or WC under the new formats. As many as 10 internationals including post season friendlies and the cup itself every 2nd year. Then as many of 38 premier league games as possible A couple of league cup games A couple of FA Cup games Over a dozen new format CL games We're talking 50+ games for club then even more for country, and that's letting the poor sod rest as many as 10 of those games. LFCMike
Can't argue with any of this from the Milan ultras Quote “Honestly, it makes us laugh to see all those people in the control room of football suddenly claim we fans are first and foremost. “The Super League is just the latest in a long line of innumerable manoeuvres over decades that has made football into a business. “The birth of this new competition would certainly be another shove to the football of old, which is by now a distant memory, and will inevitably obscure the tradition of the various national leagues, robbing football of the undeniable principle of sporting meritocracy. “But the thing that most leaves us indignant is the hypocrisy of all those who contributed to making this sport nothing but a business, those who today stand up in name of the fans, but only because they saw their remunerative and seemingly untouchable project fall apart. “Football did belong to the people until the 1990s, when the Champions League was born, destroying the old European Cup. From that moment, an unbreachable chasm has been created between the big and small clubs. “Football did belong to the people even when nobody lifted a finger to stop the increase of ticket prices that was imposed by some Presidents. “Football did belong to the people even when nobody stepped in to stop the rise of the super agents, who took player salaries to ever more astronomical figures, which could only be sustained with TV rights, the same TV companies that imposed increasingly chaotic fixture lists, with games on improbable days and kick-off times. “Football did belong to the people even when rules were imposed to stop any rapport between the players and the fans. “Football did belong to the people even when Supercoppa Finals were played on other continents or the dates of some games were changed a few days before kick-off, damaging those fans who had booked trains or planes to get to the stadium. “Football did belong to the people even when some clubs were allowed to circumvent Financial Fair Play, while others with less influential Presidents were penalised. “Football did belong to the people even when the World Cup was forced to Qatar in 2022, despite moving the entire calendar and disregarding human rights violations. “We could list numerous other examples to show the absolute hypocrisy of the words we’re hearing from the football chiefs over the last 48 hours. “The Super League is just the latest disgusting step, but those who took football to this point are no less grotesque, so save us these ludicrous performances of rhetoric and morality. “Now that the money is running out, feel free to fight it out between yourselves, but don’t you dare name the fans. PIGS!”

Honey Honey
The "your club" that John Henry keeps saying is exactly the problem. If it is the fans club then why should he be involved at all? Fans aren't turning up just because someone invests.
